A missile attack targeted the US embassy in central Baghdad late on Saturday night, according to the Al-Arabiya correspondent.

The "Patriot system" succeeded in countering a Katyusha missile that was launched towards the embassy.

 

Immediately after its interception, the missile landed near the suspension bridge inside the Green Zone, near a number of protesters.

The American embassy in Baghdad is under successive attacks by the armed militia loyal to Iran.

On June 18, 4 Katyusha rockets landed near the US embassy, which is located inside the fortified Green Zone in the heart of Baghdad.

On the 13th of last month, a missile attack hit a base in north Baghdad, where American forces are stationed.

On June 8, two missiles struck the territory of the Baghdad airport complex, and an unguided missile landed near the US embassy.

It is noteworthy that for months, Iraqi military bases hosting American soldiers have been subjected to repeated missile attacks.

The frequency of attacks has increased since the killing of the Iranian Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani, in a US air strike in Baghdad in early January.

The latest strikes coincided with the resumption of the US-Iraqi dialogue, which was opposed by some pro-Iranian factions.

Mubasher: The Security Media Cell in Iraq announced today, Sunday, the launch of a Katyusha missile from the Ali Al-Saleh area of Baghdad, towards the Green Zone .

In a statement, quoting the Iraqi News Agency, it stated that "a Katyusha missile was launched from the Ali Al-Saleh area of Baghdad towards the Green Zone, where it landed next to a house near my channel, which resulted in the injury of a child and damage to the house ."

She added that the security forces at the same time managed to thwart another attack in the area of Umm al-Azam and control a Katyusha missile as well as the launching base, explaining that "this missile was directed towards the Taji camp north of the capital."

The information added that the missile landed near the Great Hall of Honor inside the airport in the Iraqi capital.
