A statement by Barzani's office stated that, "Today, the British Prime Minister received Stephen Hickey, the British ambassador to Iraq, and during the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom, and a mechanism for solving the outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad was discussed." The statement quoted Barzani as saying, "We support Mustafa Al-Kazemi's government with a view to resolving all outstanding problems under the constitution." And the British ambassador to Iraq expressed "the UK's readiness to assist the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government to bring them closer in order to resolve outstanding problems based on the constitution."
