His father, originally from the Shatrah area of Dhi Qar province, was a surveyor and an art expert. According to locals in the neighborhood, Kadhimi eyed power as a child, taking charge as a leader of the neighborhood children. Others describe him as “enthusiastic” and “involved”. His friends today describe him as a calm person. “When he speaks with someone, he listens and then argues. This is a very good quality, which very few people have,” says Nibras Al-Maamouri, an activist and media worker. The fifty three-year old PM is married and the father of two. He is the son-in-law of Mahdi Allaq, a leader of the Dawa Party and former secretary of Iraq's Council of Ministers. Pitcher
https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/en/Story/48155/Iraqi-parliament-to-vote-confidence-on-Kadhmi-s-cabinet-on-Wednesday Iraqi parliament to vote confidence on Kadhmi's cabinet on Wednesday The Iraqi Council of Representatives is expected to hold a session for voting on PM-designate Mustafa al-Kadhmi's cabinet on Wednesday, May 6, reports said. This comes after Kadhimi met with Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi on Monday for talks on the formation of a new government in Baghdad. They also exchanged views on the specification of a timeline for giving a vote of confidence to Kadhmi's cabinet. The premier-designate is struggling with convincing the majority of Shia factions as part of them have rejected to support his cabinet. Earlier on Sunday, State of Law Coalition, led by Nouri al-Maliki, and al-Wataniya Coalition of Ayad Allawi both announced that they would not vote for Kadhmi's proposed cabinet, arguing that it would not be able to address the demands of the Iraqi people.
Pitcher
https://www.shafaaq.com/en/iraq-news/state-of-law-reveals-the-person-who-delivered-the-american-message-to-al-maliki/ State of law reveals the person who delivered the American message to Al-Maliki Iraq News Nuri al-Maliki Mustafa al-Kadhimi US embassy 2020/05/05 07:14:37 Shafaq News / State of Law coalition disclosed on Tuesday, the person who delivered the message of US Ambassador to Iraq Matthew Tueller to the leader of the coalition, Nuri al-Maliki. "The one who delivered the message to Maliki is the (translator) of the American ambassador in Iraq, and this is evidence that the message is confirmed,” The leader in the coalition, MP. Katae al-Rikabi told Shafaq News. "We hope from all political parties that support Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kadhimi that their positions be reviewed after the arrival of a message from the American embassy." "We expect that there would be a surprise in the last moments, especially after the American message, and we expect that political forces will change their stance towards Al-Kadhimi, as it is assumed that all forces change their stance, if there is a national feeling and concern for Iraq, then it should be unified from all sides that the American message reached them or was informed about it,” al-Rikabi added. Al-Maliki tweeted yesterday, Monday, saying "I received a message from a party claiming that it is affiliated with the American ambassador. If it is fake, I consider it neglected, and if it is correct, Iraq has men who value it’s the interests, and we do not accept interference in our internal affairs, and this is not one of the ambassador's tasks.” The text of the message attributed to Tueller states "The United States is assuming a very urgent and significant need to form the government of Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi. Any weaknesses or concessions in choosing ministers should be ignored when balancing them with the terrible expectations of the country. The caretaker government of Mr. Adel Abdul Mahdi is paralyzed and unable to deal with many of the problems facing Iraq. As your friends and partners in the past 17 years, we are very concerned that the consequences for Iraq as a country and for the Iraqi people will be devastating if the government of Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi is not approved. If so we will help Iraq to cope with future problems. " The US embassy in Baghdad did not comment on the alleged message, but the leader of "Wataniya" coalition, Iyad Allawi, demanded earlier to deny it. The State of Law coalition, which has 26 seats in the Iraqi parliament, announced on Sunday its decision not to vote on Al-Kadhimi’s government. The National Coalition led by Iyad Allawi, who has nearly 20 seats, also joined State of Law coalition to announce that it will not vote on the government in the parliament session scheduled for this week. Al-Kadhimi needs half + 1 of the total number of parliament members to pass his government. As the Iraqi parliament announced on Monday that it will hold the special session to consider granting confidence to the government of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kashimi tomorrow evening Wednesday. 1
