Officials of the two organizations of the Bank and the International Monetary Fund confirmed their readiness to respond quickly to provide assstance to the government of Iraq to meet the needs of the fight against Corona, while the Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq offered his welcome for any financial support that might be provided by other countries in this framework.

The media office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Finance Fuad Hussein said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, a copy of it, that the latter participated in a meeting via closed-circuit television to discuss the financial and economic situation and ways to continue to support the health sector.
 
 
The statement indicated that Hussein's participation in the coordination meeting came to provide the required support to the health sector to combat HIV and Corona disease, indicating that this meeting was held via closed-circuit television with the participation of the British and American ambassadors, and Hazem Al-Jumaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, also participated in the televised meeting, the World Bank official The Middle East and from Amman the representative of the International Monetary Fund and responsible for Iraq, the meeting was attended by a number of financial officials in the two international institutions and the representative of global health.
 


On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister of Finance Fouad Hussein shed light on the work of the Ministry of Finance and its efforts in providing financial requirements and urgent needs to support the health sector in Iraq since the beginning of the crisis, as the ministry has taken the necessary measures to collect funds through banks or through fundraising, whether from some donor countries Or through governmental and private banks as well as the private sector.

In another axis of the meeting, the general economic and financial situation and the impact of the international crisis on the Iraqi situation and the confusing challenges faced by Iraq in terms of fighting the disease or the sharp decline in oil prices were added in addition to the political crisis related to the formation of the government.

The relations with the World Bank and the International Fund were also discussed. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of deepening relations with both financial institutions. And discussed how to financial support to Iraq in general and the health sector in particular. As for the issue of external borrowing, the matter requires legal approvals from the executive and legislative authorities, indicating that the ministry is currently preparing a letter to the World Bank to obtain additional financial assistance for the health sector.

For his part, the bank and the International Monetary Fund officials affirmed their readiness to respond quickly to provide assistance to the government of Iraq and to restructure some of the specialized programs in the health sector to meet the needs of fighting Corona.

Hussein expressed his thanks to the Ambassador of the United States of America for the financial and logistical support that his country provided to the health sector in Iraq and in the field of fighting Corona disease, welcoming any financial support that might be provided by other countries in this framework.

Dr. Hazem Al-Jumaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, outlined the steps and measures taken by the Ministry of Health and the competent committee to combat HIV since the beginning of the disease, and pointed to the numbers of infected and deceased, and the Ministry of Health's need for health equipment and technical support. He also talked about the future steps that the Ministry will take in this regard.

It sure seems like there are many factions at play here.  Pressure or guidance in GOI formation. "in addition to the political crisis related to the formation of the government."  

 

It's time Iraq grabs their *****, pulls up their socks and start marching down the international avenue!  The world waits.

it still blows me away the amount of propping up iraq has had since 2004 and not much farther along building the country  im not sure they ever have had a complete goi maliki and the other PM's have ran the key / vital minitry's by proxy , 

 raq squanders every hand out they receive the country's motto has got to be

all aboard the corruption gravy train a fresh load of cash is heading down the track ,

zero accountability , i used to think someone knew something the average joe does not but it seems to many episodes have passed for that conjecture to be true i can think of many nations that are in need as bad or worse than iraq that are given little assistance, the only thing i can imagine is its the oil ... opine over :rake:

 pure insanity .... we wait
