This guy can't be an Iraqi politician. All they do is waste time. And should they approve

someone today, there's another 30-day window for that person to build his cabinet.

Then parliament has to approve. The next thing you know, it's time for their Christmas

break. Who's got time for work, when you can vacation. Fools.

Qusay al-Suhail

Dr. Qusay Abdul Wahab al-Suhail is an Iraqi politician from the Sadrist Movement who is the current Minister of Higher Education in the Government of Adil Abdul-Mahdi.[1]

BackgroundEdit

He graduated from Baghdad University with an MSc and a PhD in Hydrology and went on to be an Assistant Professor at the University of Basrah.[2]

Political activitiesEdit

For the 2010 Iraqi parliamentary election, the Shiite Islamist National Iraqi Alliance split, with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki leading his own State of Law Coalition. The cross-sectarian Iraqiya party won the most seats but fell well short of a majority. The Sadrists significantly increased their number of MPs and became the second largest component of the NAI. After eight months of negotiations, a national unity government incorporating all the main blocs was agreed. An Iraqiya MP, Osama al-Nujaifi, was elected Speaker of the Council of Representatives, with al-Suhail elected his first deputy.[3] His election was seen as a sign that the Sadrists wanted to demonstrate that they had responsible professionals who were able to govern Iraq and move on from the insurgency against the United States army. He was also one of the first major politicians elected since the 2003 invasion of Iraq who was not from among the opposition politicians who organised themselves from exile under Saddam Hussein.[4]

He was nominated as Minister for Higher Education by Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi in October 2018, but was not approved by parliament due to disagreements between the Sadrists and the second largest bloc, Fatah.[5] Suhail was eventually approved by the Council of Representatives on 18 December 2018, after they agreed to allow parliament to vote on five further ministries which were "not shrouded in disagreements" - a reference to the Interior and Defence Ministers

from the article :

Protesters chanted slogans rejecting the candidacy of Qusay al-Suhail for the post of prime minister and threatened further escalation should it come to pass. Demonstrators have long lamented what they see as foreign intervention in Iraqi affairs and see Suhail as Iran’s pick for the premiership.

Thanks for posting. Something to consider: Note which news organizations report the political crisis as originating entirely within Iraq, with no fault attributed to Iran.

Also worth noting that Al Jazeera is Qatari, a country allied with Iran and Turkey.

Qatari money influences a vast portion of global and American media, especially the Never-Trumpers.

Hopefully, if he is one of Sadr's goons, they only have him for a few months to get the economy kick started with free elections no later than December. There is a shiite majority in Iraq. So, there will continue to be an internal struggle between shiite nationalists, pro-Iranian theocrats and others.

Not sure if we will see more protests, but there is a lot of work to do and if he tries to kick the US out, he won't last long.

Legal expert: After the failure of the Seven Committee .. Constitutionally Saleh takes over the Prime Minister with his full powers

image-2-23.jpg?w=560

Baghdad / news

On Monday, the legal expert, Ali Al-Tamimi, confirmed that after the failure of the Seven Committee, constitutionally, the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, assumed the prime minister with his full powers.

Al-Tamimi said in a statement received by "Al-Akhbariya" that "in case the Seven Committee fails and the 15-day period granted to the President of the Republic passes ... I see that the topic of the largest bloc that obligated the candidate in paragraphs first, third and fifth of Article 76 of the Constitution has ended, and that the transition will be to Article 81 first and second, the transfer of powers to the President of the Republic, and he who will replace the Prime Minister with full powers and the end of the role of Abdul-Mahdi and those with him, who has to hand over the administration of the country to the President of the Republic. ”

He added, “According to the second paragraph of Article 81, the President of the Republic may appoint a candidate far from the largest bloc or parties, meaning he is free, unrestricted and not obligated to choose, stating that“ if Parliament does not vote for him on whom he chooses, then any President of the Republic can dissolve Parliament and call elections It is early, according to Article 64 of the Constitution, because it brought together the two positions, that is, the President and the ministers with us ... and then it will be a milestone ... that will solve the problems of the whole country. "

He continued, "In the event of disagreement on this, the President of the Republic can resort to the Federal Court to find a solution to the crisis in accordance with Article 93 F2 of the Constitution."
