Trump makes the first comment on the Taji attack and identifies potential implementers

Baghdad today - follow up

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump made the first comment about the attack on the Taji base in Iraq.

"It has not been confirmed that Iran has carried out the attack on the Taji base but rather a group of rebels that may be supported by it," Trump told a news conference.

He added, "We offered medical assistance to Iran because it suffers from a major problem because of Corona and if it accepts the offer we will be happy to help it."

On Thursday, US Defense Secretary Mark Asper said that US President Donald Trump has given the department a full mandate to deal with what can be done after the Taji incident.

And Esber had said, earlier, that the United States would not allow any attack against its citizens or allies in Iraq.

He stated, in press statements, that "all options are open and we are working with partners to bring those responsible for the attack on Al Taji base to justice."

"The militias supported by Iran are responsible for the attack on the Taji base," he added.

He continued, "I spoke to President Trump yesterday and do not exclude any option at this time," stressing that "the United States will not allow any attack targeting its citizens or allies in Iraq."

Today, Thursday (12 March 2020), the Commander of the US Army’s Central Command, General MacKenzie, accused the missile attack of Al-Taji military base yesterday in Baghdad, while he described those whom he described as Iranian proxies who increased their attacks.

"Iran remains the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world since May 2019," said McKinsey, in a press statement reported by Reuters. "Iranian proxies and militias in Iraq have increased attacks on US interests and conducted dozens of reconnaissance flights with aircraft near US and Iraqi bases."

". He continued, "The Americans and the British who were killed in Iraq were members of the American army," adding: "I do not see an imminent threat from Iran, but the threat comes from its agents."

"In early January, Iran launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles in a deliberate attack against US and coalition forces at two bases in Iraq. This state-sponsored missile strike crossed the threshold of comparison to previous attacks," McKinsey said.

And the US Department of Defense issued a new position earlier today, Thursday, regarding the missile attack on the Taji military base yesterday in Baghdad.

"Hezbollah, Iraq, is the only armed organization that can launch an attack on the Taji base," the Pentagon said in a brief statement released by foreign media.

Earlier, the international coalition against ISIS, led by the United States of America, revealed today (March 21, 2020) a new outcome of the missile attack on the "Al-Taji" military base, north of Baghdad, stressing its freedom to attack alongside Iraqi forces.

In a statement, the coalition stated that "three members of the coalition forces were killed, and approximately 12 additional people were wounded, in the attack on the Taji camp," noting that "18 Katyusha rockets fell," noting that "the coalition and the Iraqi security forces are investigating what happened in the attack ".

And announced the joint operations command, at dawn today, Thursday, 3 soldiers from the International Alliance were killed in the attack on the Taji camp.

The command stated in a statement received (Baghdad today), "This evening, the Taji camp was attacked by Katyusha rockets targeting the areas where the coalition forces were present, which resulted in the death of 3 people and a number of other wounded members of the coalition forces," without specifying their number.

She added, "This attack is a very serious security challenge and hostile action, and the Prime Minister directed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to open an immediate investigation to find out who carried out this dangerous and hostile act, and to prosecute, arrest, and present it to the judiciary, whatever the entity."

And the leadership called, according to the statement, the citizens to "provide any information about the perpetrators of this act," stressing that it "has taken firm measures and will strongly respond to any targeting of the camps and military bases."

She pointed out that "the coalition forces are present with the approval of the Iraqi government and its mission is to train Iraqi forces and fight ISIS, and not any other party."

American organization chief: Washington's response to the Taji attack will be harsh

114411.jpg?watermark=4

Politics 03/2020 22:05 54
Baghdad today - Baghdad

Engineer Tom Harb, director of the American Middle East Alliance for Democracy, said today, Thursday, that the United States of America will not stand idle about the missile attacks it is facing, especially what happened to the Taji military base yesterday evening Wednesday.

" The Americans believe that the missiles used in the Taji attack are of Iranian manufacture, and the Iraqi Shiites have nothing to do with the attack on the Taji base ," Tom said, while hosting the "Point of View" program , presented by Dr. Nabil Jassim.

Regarding the bombing of military bases that included Iraqi parties in the area, the Syrian Albukamal, yesterday night, and its relationship to the attack on Taji, he said, "We do not believe that the Albukamal strike came in response to the Taji attack."

He expected that "the American response will be harsh and target a faction affiliated with the popular crowd," according to his words, and he considered that "the Iraqi government is innocent of the attack."

On the possibility of US ground intervention, he said, "The American President, Donald Trump does not want American forces on the ground."

A strategist expects two tracks for the American response to the Taji attack and warns of a very serious UN resolution

The strategic expert, Ahmed Al-Sharifi, Thursday (12 March 2020), determined the type of American response to the missile attack that targeted the Taji military base yesterday, likely targeting Iraqi actors who are active in the political scene according to his estimates.

Al-Sharifi said in an interview with the "Viewpoint" program , presented by the media, Nabil Jassim, on the Tigris satellite channel, "The American response to the Taji attacks will be in two parts, the first will target the command and control system, and the second will be a political response by targeting Iraqi actors active in the political scene close from Iran".

He added, "The Taji strike wants to push the United States to reconsider the areas of the Baghdad belt as not a believer, and that the military bases that are in Baghdad are no longer safe," noting that "Washington may raise the level of protection for its forces in Iraq by deploying a system New air defense. "

Al-Sharifi indicated that "the United States will not wait for the approval of Iraq when the Patriot system is deployed, and the Taji strike coincided with America's announcement to deploy the Patriot system in Iraq."

And on the talk about the possibility of ISIS standing behind the Taji strike, Sharifi said, "The organization does not have the flexibility to act to carry out this attack, and we believe that the perpetrators are linked to Iran."

He added, "Iraq lost its air sovereignty in favor of the United States because of the operations targeting the American forces," noting that "the Americans gave the Iraqi army advanced devices, then these devices went to the terrorists and brought down the Syrian Cuban."

The strategic expert suggested that the United Nations intervene in the formation of an Iraqi government with international support and the transfer of sovereignty from Iraq because of the repeated targeting of the anti-terrorist entities, given that the current Iraqi government is a failure in the sizes of Chapter VI of the United Nations Charter and this matter is very dangerous.

Earlier, the international coalition against ISIS, led by the United States of America, revealed today (March 21, 2020) a new outcome of the missile attack on the "Al-Taji" military base, north of Baghdad, stressing its freedom to attack alongside Iraqi forces.

After the attack on the Taji camp ... What awaits Iraq?

ggggggggggggggggg.png

Yesterday evening, Wednesday - the Taji camp was attacked by Katyusha rockets targeting the coalition forces ’presence, killing two Americans and a Briton, and a number of other wounded members of the coalition forces.

And in a statement issued by the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, it may be understood from him as an implicit recognition of the perpetration of this attack. The statement stated: “The occupation's disregard for the will of the people will not be without price and those who believe in working against the occupier at this stage must introduce themselves to preserve their history” and also indicated in it: ” We ask God to bless those who carried out the precise jihadi operation that targeted the American occupation forces at the base of Al-Taji in Baghdad, and we tighten their hands, because their choice of time was very appropriate, and they did not abandon And the people are their jihadist operations to drive out the bad guys and the aggressors from the land of the holy sites. ”

This irresponsible attack, which aims to shuffle the cards in the region, put Iraq on a hot plate and political, military and economic consequences that could outweigh any imagination, and that this attack embarrassed the Iraqi state with all its constitutional institutions internally and externally, and showed it as weak.

The party that committed this attack is mistaken for its aggression targeting not only the coalition forces in Iraq, but also the Iraqi security situation, which is essentially a very fragile situation, as well as the high strategic interests of the Iraqi state, while at the same time threatening the interests of Iran, which suffers from a suffocating crisis caused by a virus outbreak Corona in it, not to mention the US sanctions imposed on it.

It is also wrong for that side or the militia also if it thinks “one iota” that its aggression against the international coalition forces is evidence that it is a “champion of the arena” in the face of the coalition forces in Iraq. Power of paper !!

The ball is now in the court of the Iraqi state and its constitutional institutions in order to preserve the material and moral prestige of the Iraqi state, and to preserve its Arab, regional and international credibility by taking swift legal measures against the party or militia that stands behind that brutal aggression before arriving at seven o'clock this evening.

It is not in the interest of the Iraqi state to ignore what happened to the coalition forces as if it was something that was not, this matter will not be accepted by the United States of America and the United Kingdom, and this is what the US Secretary of State Pompeo clearly indicated by saying: “We will not tolerate the deadly attack on the Taji military base in Iraq, I and the British Foreign Secretary have agreed to hold those responsible for that attack accountable. ”

In light of this statement, the Iraqi government is in a race against time to remedy what happened, otherwise Iraq is on the verge of an untold stage.

Targeting the Taji camp puts Iraq in the circle of threatening its security and stability, the government must shoulder its responsibility before the world by uncovering actors, despite the knowledge that many of the perpetrators of the attack and what preceded it, are factions linked to the government carrying out its operations with state agencies and weapons.

A race between Iraqi officials to condemn the Taji attack

%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%AC%D9%8A-300

BAGHDAD - Iraqi officials quickly condemned the raids that targeted the Taji base in Baghdad, which killed 3 soldiers and wounded 12 others.

And Iraq’s three presidencies (the republic, ministers, and parliament) expressed their condemnation, on Thursday, of the missile strikes on the Taji camp north of Baghdad that hosts forces of the International Alliance.

In the first official reaction to the attacks, caretaker Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi pledged to pursue those responsible for bombing the US military base.

And he ordered an immediate investigation to find out who carried out this work, which he described as "hostile and dangerous."

Iraqi President Barham Salih also condemned the terrorist attack, considering the incident as a direct targeting of Iraqi security. The Presidency, in turn, stressed the need to conduct full investigations to determine its background and track the elements responsible for it.

For his part, Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Halbousi, the head of the caretaker government, called for firm and strict measures towards any targeting of Iraqi camps and military bases that include the coalition forces.

Al-Halbousi said that the presence of the international coalition forces at the Taji military base came "at the request of the Iraqi government and its approval to train Iraqi security forces, and to provide support and support in the fight against ISIS and the pursuit of its remnants."

It appears that the repeated Iranian attacks on American military bases in Iraq put Iraqi officials every time in an embarrassing position in front of Washington, which has called on more than one occasion to the necessity of controlling these armed groups.

To coincide with the frequent local and international reactions, bloody raids carried out by three warplanes on the bases of the Popular Mobilization militia targeted western Syria and resulted in the killing of 26 elements of the pro-Iranian forces.

This came shortly after the missile attack targeting the Taji base north of the Iraqi capital, which hosts the international coalition forces against terrorism, with more than 15 missiles.

Western and local media said that targeting the headquarters of Iraqi pro-Iranian militias in Syria came in response to the targeting of the American Al-Taji base, which killed 3 coalition soldiers.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the attacks resulted in the killing of 26 members of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces in the Al-Hassyan area of Albukamal in a bombing by three aircraft that also targeted the Imam Ali base, which militias loyal to Iran are taking as their military headquarters.

These attacks would further increase the level of tension between Washington and Tehran, which supports Shiite armed groups loyal to them in Iraq, and the United States has previously accused them of being behind attacks that targeted their interests there.

Observers said that the American response confirms once again Iran's involvement in the attacks that targeted the Taji military base, where militias had previously targeted American bases in Iraq after tension escalated between Tehran and Washington against the background of the killing of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in a US raid.

After the attack on the military base, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stressed that the party responsible for the attack will not be tolerated, and that Washington will respond to this attack.

"It will not be tolerated about the deadly attack that targeted today (Wednesday) the Taji military base in Iraq," Pompeo said in a tweet on Twitter.

Pompeo also made it clear that he agreed with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Rapp that "officials must be held accountable."

In a telephone conversation between the US Secretary of State and his British counterpart, Washington and London pledged to “hold account” the perpetrators of an attack on an Iraqi base that killed an American and a British soldier in addition to an another site.

The two soldiers and the contractor were killed in a Katyusha missile attack that targeted, on Wednesday evening, the Iraqi military base of Taji, which houses American soldiers north of Baghdad.

The US administration believes that the danger of pro-Iranian factions in Iraq to American soldiers is greater than the threat posed by ISIS itself.

On the other hand, observers of Iraqi affairs see that the repeated attacks targeting American military bases are part of the Iranian efforts to direct the path of the Iraqi street’s movement against the American presence, especially after Tehran’s efforts to contain the movements of protesters and the installation of one of its men in the office of Prime Minister.

The US Central Command said in a statement that 18 Katyusha rockets targeted the military base, which also wounded about 12 international coalition forces.

The statement indicated that "the Iraqi security forces found a truck equipped with missiles a few miles from the Taji base." Baghdad, close to both sides, has become an arena for settling accounts between Washington and Tehran.

As the Iranian regime slips closer to collapse, the more aggression we'll see from them (these aren't proxies, they're as much Iranian as Khomeini). They want to strike as many blows as they can while they're dying. That's the radical Islamist way. I'm fine with that as long as Americans or Iraqis don't die.

Hezbollah in Iraq is about to get smoked. We just needed an excuse.

America carries out retaliatory strikes after an attack on its forces in Iraq

%D9%82%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%83%D9%8A%D8%A9-730x438-341x341.jpg

Two United States officials are carrying out retaliatory strikes in Iraq in response to a missile attack yesterday that killed two American soldiers and a British military at a base north of Baghdad, two US officials told Reuters on Thursday.

The two officials gave no details of the targets being hit, or the target groups. But the Pentagon earlier blamed an Iranian-backed armed group for the attack, which also wounded 14 people.

One official said the US response would be proportional to Wednesday's missile attack.

The Pentagon has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Dead and wounded in an American bombing of an Iraqi armed group, "Iran"

%D8%A7%D9%85%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%83%D8%A7-1-3

American forces carried out air strikes on several military sites belonging to one of the Iraqi popular crowd factions, which resulted in a number of deaths and injuries.

Sources of the island said that the American air strikes killed and wounded, and destroyed several sites belonging to the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, which is close to Iran.

The bombing came in response to a missile attack on the Taji camp near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, last night, in which two American and British soldiers were killed and 12 others were wounded.

Island sources said that the American forces carried out retaliatory strikes in Iraq after an attack on its forces there.

The American bombardment hit the sites of the Hashd in the Jurf al-Sakhr area, south of Baghdad, and others in Salah al-Din, Babil, and Basra governorates.

The Pentagon confirmed that the US military carried out "precise defensive strikes against the sites of Iranian-backed groups across Iraq."

He added that the air strikes targeted "weapons storage facilities that were used to attack American and coalition forces."

Earlier, two US officials told Reuters that the United States was carrying out retaliatory strikes in Iraq in response to a missile attack on Wednesday that killed two American soldiers and a British military at a base north of Baghdad.

One of the officials said that the American response would be proportional to Wednesday's missile attack that targeted the Taji camp, which is located 35 km north of Baghdad, and hosts American soldiers and other foreign forces affiliated with the international coalition to fight the Islamic State.

In early January, the United States assassinated an airstrike of the plane of the commander of the Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy chief of the Popular Mobilization Authority, along with a number of their comrades near Baghdad airport, which led to an escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran, which responded by targeting bases An Iraqi where there are Americans.

It is noteworthy that the American army is deploying about five thousand soldiers in military bases in various parts of Iraq.
