Advisor to Iran's Supreme leader dies from coronavirus, as other top officials infected

An advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has died from the new coronavirus, as other top officials in the country are confirmed to be infected, according to multiple reports on Monday.

Mohammad Mirmohammadi, 71, was an Expediency Council member who advised Khamenei and settled disputes between him and parliament. COVID-19 has already infected Iran's vice president and deputy health minister.

His death comes after the country rejected help from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday -- who announced last week the U.S. was concerned Iran may have covered up details on the spread of the virus.

"We neither count on such help nor are we ready to accept verbal help," Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said during a briefing on Monday. He added the country has always been "suspicious" over American intentions, and that the U.S. government was trying to weaken Iranians' spirits over the outbreak.

Iran's mortality rate from the virus is roughly 5.5 percent, compared to an overall fatality rate of about 2 percent in China. The difference in rates has led people to suggest the number of infections in Iran is higher than what the country has officially reported.

Iran has 978 confirmed cases of the virus after recording its first case less than two weeks ago.

IRAN PREPARES TO TEST 'TENS OF THOUSANDS' FOR CORONAVIRUS AS NUMBER OF CONFIRMED CASES SPIKES

The virus has killed at least 54 people, the highest death toll outside of China. The majority of 1,150 cases throughout the Middle East are linked back to the country.

Iran was preparing the possibility of testing "tens of thousands" of people following a spike of cases on Saturday.

The country has closed schools and universities due to COVID-19, but religious Shiite shrines have remained open. Last week, Iranians were captured licking some of the shrines in defiance of the coronavirus.

Most countries in the Middle East have limited or ceased travel to the country. It has the 4th highest infected total outside of China, South Korea, and Italy.

India on Monday announced two positive cases of COVID-19, according to the country's Ministry of Health. One person was found to be infected in New Delhi and had a travel history from Italy. The other was from the southern state of Telangana and had a travel history from Dubai.

Both patients are being closely monitored, the department said.

Intelligence agencies had concerns over India's lack of countermeasures to the virus and said its dense population could fuel a widespread outbreak, according to Reuters.

We need a movement started right now. This ought to go viral asking millions of people to send 1 page to all the evil leaders Iran, N K,V,R, C  and etc,  including the addresses.  Send 100 ways to snuff out evil leaders once and for all  or any one that takes over the country without freedom too all citizens.  I would do it  would you do? Think it would send a message to the whole world? I can wish right?

We can only hope that the departed official left a parting 'gift' for the Supreme Leader Khamenei. Maybe a bacterial laden kiss on the cheek. I can wish too, like Moxie.

At the 2:20 mark, you see Iranian congressmen visiting the sick-with-coronavirus Vice President in the hospital - and none of them are wearing a mask!  At the 2:00 minute mark, this same infected Vice President is meeting with the Cabinet before she got sick.  I think it's spread pretty well through the Iranian government already.   Good 4 minute video which shows how Iran is under reporting the death rate.

More Iranian Parliament members are infected..... 23 and counting.  Watch the video above and you'll see why.  Ignorance is one thing, but this is just stupididy.     https://www.foxnews.com/health/iran-says-77-dead-amid-2336-cases-of-new-coronavirus

Iran reports 2,336 cases of the new coronavirus, at least 77 dead; MPs hit hard

Iran on Tuesday announced new measures to slow the spread of the new coronavirus and reported that the country has seen 2,336 cases and 77 deaths since the outbreak.

An Iranian lawmaker reportedly has told colleagues to stop their contact with public as there are 23 cases of the new coronavirus among parliament members.

That's according to lawmaker Abdolreza Mesri, who was quoted by Iranian state television's Young Journalists Club program.

Iran’s supreme leader earlier on Tuesday ordered the Islamic Republic’s armed forces to assist its Health Ministry in combating the spread of the new coronavirus.

The decision by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei comes as Iran has seen the highest death toll from the new virus and the COVID-19 illness it causes outside of China, the epicenter of the virus.

After downplaying the coronavirus as recently as last week, Iranian authorities now say they have plans to potentially mobilize 300,000 soldiers and volunteers to confront the virus.

Concern over the outbreak now stretches to Iran's top leadership — some of whom have fallen ill from the virus.

An activist group also said Tuesday that Wikipedia's Farsi-language website appeared to be disrupted in Iran after a close confidant to the supreme leader died of the new coronavirus.

The advocacy group NetBlocks linked the death of Expediency Council member Mohammad Mirmohammadi to the disruption, though Iranian officials and its state media did not immediately acknowledge it. Authorities face increasing criticism from the Iranian public over the outbreak amid concerns the number of cases from the virus may be higher than currently reported.

The disruption raises fears of Iran potentially shutting off the internet entirely again, as it did for a week during economic protests in November. Iran separately has created its own so-called “halal” net of government-approved websites.

Experts still worry Iran’s percentage of deaths to infections, now around 4.4%, is much higher than other countries, suggesting the number of infections in Iran may be far greater than current figures show. Saudi Arabia and Jordan meanwhile announced their first cases of the virus Monday.

Iran stands alone in how the virus has affected its government, even compared to hard-hit China, the epicenter of the outbreak.

ADVISER TO IRAN'S SUPREME LEADER DIES FROM CORONAVIRUS, AS OTHER TOP OFFICIALS INFECTED

Mirmohammadi’s death makes him the highest-ranking official within Iran’s theocracy to be killed by the virus. The virus earlier killed Hadi Khosroshahi, Iran’s former ambassador to the Vatican, as well as a recently elected member of parliament.

Those sick include Vice President Masoumeh Ebtekar, better known as “Sister Mary,” the English-speaking spokeswoman for the students who seized the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and sparked the 444-day hostage crisis, state media reported. Also sick is Iraj Harirchi, the head of an Iranian government task force on the coronavirus who tried to downplay the virus before falling ill.

Meanwhile Tuesday, the Middle East’s largest airline, Emirates, said it had to reduce or ground flights due to the new virus. Because of the slowdown, the government-owned carrier has asked its employees to take paid and even unpaid leave for up to a month at a time. Emirates’ operates out of Dubai, the world’s busiest for international travel.

“We have been tested before and Emirates will come out stronger,” Chief Operating Officer Adel Al-Redha said.

The world’s largest airline trade association, IATA, says Mideast carriers have already lost around $100 million in revenue due to a drop in ticket sales because of disruptions caused by the virus.

The Death Of 6 Employees Of The Iranian Central Bank
Of Corona

main_image5e619dcd6acb4.jpg

6th March, 2020

Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdel Nasser Hamti, stated today, Friday, that 6 of the bank's employees have died recently due to infection with Corona virus.

According to the information received so far, 6 of my dear colleagues in the banking system have died of the Coronavirus while serving people," he said in a tweet posted on his Instagram page.

On the death of these soldiers, I extend my deepest condolences to their dear families, managers and colleagues for serving the people in the branches of the country's banks," Abdel Nasser Hamiti added.

He continued: “Despite the risks of working in the bank’s branches, we are witnessing the efforts made by our colleagues in the banking system to serve people, especially in the bank’s branches.”

The Iranian government had reduced working hours by half in banks and government departments last week to curb the spread of the Corona virus, but the National Committee to Combat Corona during its meeting on Thursday canceled the decision to return official hours as before and recommended that leave be given alternately to employees.

Corona Virus Crush the Iranian leadership ... Denial and stupidity is the reason

14ipj-3-730x438-341x341.jpg

The "Washington Post" newspaper published a report for its reporters in Iran Cunningham and Dalton showed about the impact of the outbreak of the emerging Corona virus on the Iranian leadership, which was crushed under its control after data revealed that the virus spread more widely than the government.

He said that the virus that had spread across Iran was a "flagrant blow" to the prominent Iranian leadership and government, and had infected a number of parliamentarians and 15 former and current officials, which was recognized by the government itself. Among the injured were the vice president, the vice minister of health, and an advisor to the judiciary. The virus struck the heart of power in Iran, killing a senior adviser, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution.

After Iran became the second largest outpost of the virus in the world, Health Ministry spokesman Kianosh Jahanpur said on Wednesday that the death toll across the country had reached 92, and more than 3,000 had been infected. However, data obtained from a group of hospitals in Tehran suggest that the epidemic has spread on a broader basis than what the government has recognized.

A number of hospitals in the capital, Tehran, reported 80 deaths from the Coruna virus, over a six-day period until Wednesday. Medical centers say that these numbers represent a small part of the number of injured in the capital.

The data, which provided demographic information and explanations of the cases, showed that there is a 17% increase in deaths between Tuesday and Wednesday.

The newspaper said that the information gathered from the hospitals and provided to her by the Iranian activist residing in Britain, Nariman Gharib, criticizing the government response to the spread of the epidemic and fears that the information will be hidden from public opinion.

Based on information from Tehran, Ashley Tweet, an infectious disease researcher at the Dalla Lana Center for Public Health at the University of Toronto estimated that the new wave of the disease has reached 28,000 cases, adding that the numbers may increase. She said that the nurses with whom the newspaper contacted by phone in Tehran and Mashhad, in the northeast of the country, are constantly increasing cases, without the inclusion of prominent officials who have contracted the disease, including the infection that was diagnosed based on a tomography.

The nurses and the five nurses with whom the newspaper contacted and confirmed their anonymity said that nurses in hospitals were prevented from wearing real masks so as not to cause panic among patients and that there was a lack of gloves, masks and other medical materials necessary to prevent the virus. The nurses described the shortage of nurses and medical staff who are being transported between hospitals to cope with the crisis.

Aside from the effort by the Iranian authorities to reduce the risk of disease spread and refuse to quarantine, in the early days of the emergence of cases, it minimized it and encouraged citizens to participate in parliamentary elections and not to stop visiting religious scenes.

According to Iranian officials, the first case appeared in Qom after a businessman made a trip to China. The case was announced on February 19, days before the elections. But the government asked citizens to participate in it, increase the number of voters, and enhance the credibility of the Iranian leadership. After the raid that killed General Qassem Soleimani in January, the government was criticized for its cover-up over the Revolutionary Guards shooting down a Ukrainian passenger plane, the same security forces that had beaten and suppressed demonstrators protesting a lack of basic materials and high fuel prices.

Kamyar Alaei, a public health expert at Oxford University, said that Iranian officials did not want to "discourage residents from participating" and "reduce the seriousness of the disease, mislead people and give incorrect information to the health system." The result, he says, is that medical professionals "were not ready and a number of doctors, nurses, and nurses were injured because of their exposure to the virus." He added: "There was a clear mismanagement and the presentation of political interests on health concerns, which led to the spread of the epidemic."

The Iranian health system is suffering from a bad situation due to the US economic sanctions that have limited the Iranian government's ability to purchase humanitarian supplies. International banks afraid of US sanctions usually refuse to make contracts with Iranian financial institutions even if the purchases relate to medicines and medical supplies.

The World Health Organization this week sent a team of experts and shipments of medicines and medical equipment to screen 100,000 Iranian citizens. The authorities moved to contain the disease by closing theaters and cinemas, preventing visits to religious scenes and calling on residents to avoid public gatherings and stay in homes. However, the harsh health measures came too late to prevent the virus from spreading to almost every province in the country.

Experts say that the close ties between Qom, the spiritual center and political leadership in Tehran contributed to the spread of the epidemic among officials and clerics travel regularly between Qom and the capital, and some officials were injured in government meetings and even in parliament.

Disease experts pointed to peace by shaking hands and kissing contributing to the spread of the disease. Iranian leaders may have thought they would not be infected and have failed to warn citizens, Allai says. "I think the state of denial and stupidity, along with kissing three times among men, has affected a large number of political officials in Iran," commented David Wiesman of the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Toronto.

According to hospital figures, five former and subsequent officials, including two vice presidents, two counselors and a former ambassador, have been admitted to the Masih Danashvari Hospital, which is part of the Lung and Tuberculosis Research Institute. Among them were Muhammad Mir Mohammadi, the prominent advisor to the Supreme Leader and Hadi Khrushshahi, the former ambassador to the Vatican and registered as having died.

On Tuesday, the Iranian press reported the death of an adviser to Ibrahim Raisi, a former presidential candidate and head of the judiciary. She said Ahmed Tweserkani was being treated at a Revolutionary Guard hospital.

I look at this, and also how China treats its citizens, and I am so thankful that Trump really cares about his people and takes care them - even those who are in trouble and/or stuck in other countries.  It defies belief that so many Americans think he's a Nazi and ruining the country.  Luckily, it looks like many people are now thinking for themselves instead of just believing the outright lies that the alt left and media bark out constantly.  I hope and pray the poor Iranians, and Iraqis, can bring in some more leaders who likewise really care about their people.
