The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Abdul Amir Al-Hamdani, revealed, Thursday, about the cooperation of about 8 countries in recovering the looted and smuggled Iraqi antiquities abroad, confirming that there are about 20 thousand artifacts in the Iraqi embassy in Washington on the way to return to Iraq .

Al-Hamdani added, "Our embassies return hundreds of artifacts every week to the country in cooperation with a trained and qualified team of archaeologists in the Recovery Department of the Antiquities Authority."
Al-Hamdani revealed that “the Iraqi embassy in Washington now has about 5,000 antiquities that were smuggled by the“ Hobby Lobby ”company and 10,000 stolen clay tablets at Cornell University, noting that“ half of this number of cuneiform panels is still in the embassy and we have Monuments from the city of Ur in the 1920s at the University of Pennsylvania were returned to the embassy.
Al-Hamdani praised “the cooperation of the countries of Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Poland, Ukraine and Britain that have dozens of antiques”, stressing that | the Ministry reveals daily through the Recovery Department about Iraqi pieces offered for sale in the halls and exhibitions and we interfere with the international police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to restore them. Ended /
