The Kurdish delegation to Baghdad revealed, on Saturday, an agreement with Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi on the federal government's continuation of sending the budget and salaries of employees in the Kurdistan region.

Member of the Kurdish negotiating delegation, Diaa Boutros, told Mawazine News that "there is optimism in the Kurdish delegation that exists in Baghdad and we hope to reach a satisfactory result with the Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi in our meeting with him tonight."

He added, "The past meetings were frustrating and lacked respect for the entity and the constitution. We are not students of authority and positions, but whoever represents the Kurds in the Iraqi government must be for us and not an anonymous person."

He continued: "We agreed with Allawi to continue sending money earmarked for salaries and budget and all previous agreements signed in the government of Abdul-Mahdi continue, but there is no paper agreement only orally."

ERBIL — A delegation from the Kurdistan Region is holding another meeting with Iraq’s Prime Minister-designate Mohammed Allawi today in Baghdad.

Ziad Petros, a member of the negotiation team from Kurdistan, told BasNews that today’s talks are “going well”.

He explained that they are discussing Kurdistan’s constitutional, financial, and political rights.

“The negotiations today are likely to find a solution to the disputes,” Petros added.

The delegation is made up of representatives from Kurdistani political parties, working to preserve the rights of Kurdistan within the next government of Iraq under Allawi’s leadership.

Member of the House of Representatives and head of the Bayraq Al-Khair Parliamentary Bloc, Muhammad Al-Khaldi, expressed his optimism about passing the cabinet of Designated Prime Minister Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi inside the parliament dome.

Al-Khalidi said in a press statement that Al-Ikhbaria followed, "About 76 deputies asked the Presidency of the Parliament to hold a session on Monday, while the number required to hold a session is 50," noting that there is "more than one mechanism for holding the extraordinary session."

Al-Khalidi said, "It is expected that the required number will be reached for the session to take place," noting that he is "optimistic about the possibility of passing the government by a majority."

A parliamentary source early Saturday revealed that 180 deputies will give confidence to Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi during the special session.

Member of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Sherko Mirza, announced on Saturday that Baghdad will send salaries to Kurdistan Region employees this week.
 

Mirza said in a press statement, "Baghdad will send the salaries of the employees of the Kurdistan region during the current week," explaining that "the salary exchange order was issued a few days ago."

He added, "The salaries will reach the Kurdistan region until the 25th of this month."
