A source close to the Prime Minister-designate, Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi, confirmed on Tuesday that the latter did not inform anyone of the names of his ministers in the new government booth, indicating that he had contacted 22 candidates for the ministries, including two defense and interior ministers.

The source said in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that "the names that were leaked and which were said to be part of the government formation are never correct," noting that "Allawi did not share the names of the closest people to him with the names of those he chose as ministers, and their number is among 22 ministers among the dozens of names who Either he had interviews with them or contacts, especially for those outside Iraq who were content to send their CVs to him. "

He added that "the cabinet has been completed and there is no truth to what is rumored in some media outlets that it consists of 16 ministers until now, or that it has not yet been decided by the security ministries, which are the defense and the interior."

On the specific time for the parliament session to gain confidence, the source said, "This matter depends on mechanisms related to the parliament and its working contexts, as it has completed the booth and will address accountability and justice regarding the candidates pending the holding of the parliamentary session, either this weekend or next week," expecting "to vote on the government By a comfortable majority, despite the presence of protests from some political forces, not against the government or the person charged with forming it, but rather related to the nomination and selection mechanism.

Legal: Allawi can dissolve Parliament if he agrees with the President of the Republic in accordance with the constitution

18th February, 2020

Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi revealed, on Tuesday, the possibility of the next prime minister, Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi, to dissolve the House of Representatives in the event of an agreement with the President of the Republic.

Al-Tamimi said in a statement to "Al-Akhbaria" that "there is nothing in the constitution called early elections, but general elections that are in one case stipulated by Article 64 of the Constitution, which authorized the dissolution of Parliament and the holding of early elections within two months of the date of the solution."

He added, "The next Prime Minister, Muhammad Allawi, cannot dissolve Parliament alone, except with the approval of the President of the Republic, which is any Allawi. If he mentioned this in his ministerial program, Parliament needs to vote for him by accepting the Ministerial Program by an absolute majority, which seems difficult, so can the blocs agree to dissolve Parliament?" In the future."

He continued, "What is raised about the possibility of determining the age of the next government is unconstitutional because Allawi and his cabinet, if Parliament voted for him, will complete the remainder of the four-year term to succeed Abdul Mahdi," noting that "Allawi needs to vote for him by an absolute majority on the ministerial platform and ministers According to Article 76, paragraphs first, second, third, fourth and fifth.

OUTGOING IRAQI PM WARNS HE WILL WALK AWAY IF SUCCESSOR'S GOVERNMENT IS NOT APPROVED SOON

SULAIMANI — Iraq’s outgoing prime minister urged political leaders on Wednesday (February 19) to quickly approve his designated successor’s cabinet and warned he would walk away from his caretaker post if they do not do so by March 2.

Facing a wave of protests and civil unrest that has claimed the life of almost 500 people since Oct. 1, Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi quit in November. He has stayed on as a caretaker, but says now he’s ready to leave, which would create an unprecedented political vacuum at the top of the government, according to Reuters.

“It would not be correct or appropriate for me to remain in power after March 2, and I will have no recourse but to implement the text of the constitution and the cabinet’s internal bylaws,” said Abdul Mahdi, who has already stopped chairing weekly cabinet meetings.

It took Iraq’s political leadership until Feb. 1 to agree on Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi to replace Abdul Mahdi, missing a constitutional deadline to appoint one within 15 days of his resignation.

Allawi now takes over a government tasked with organizing early elections. The constitution gives him 30 days — until March 2 — to present a cabinet to parliament for approval.

He has made little progress as rival political factions squabble over ministerial portfolios. But on Saturday he said he would form a government within the coming week.

For some time, I thought things were related to them getting things together. Needed for Safety, Security, Stability, and Sovereignty. My initial thoughts getting into this Speculative Bicraqi Iraqi Dinar Investment were Iraq could reinstate on its own while I saw restarting Ye Olde, er, NEW Silk Road as a key and more compelling reason for Iraq AND the international community welcoming a shiny and brand new reinstated currency likie the Bicraqi Iraqi Dinar to induce the trade from China to Europe and back. Well, OK, I'll spare the ad nauseam of past postings.

Suffice it to say for me, the introduction of Chinese influences in Iraq with China seeing Iraq as key to the One Belt One Road is a VERY positive indicator things are about to change for reinstating the Bicraqi Iraqi Dinar. The shiny and brand new reinstated currency will push the needed shoe string transportation completion to start the land based trade with future transportation infrastructure to follow as international trade increases.

I always thought Iran was an ogre to Ye Olde, er, NEW Silk Road trade so the relatively recent push to change Iran is warranted. My fear, however, is Iran is deeply entrenched is a wide gamut of Black Market activities with associated funding. I suspect Iran has been able to launder the Black Market funds where necessary whereas internationally Iran is less and less able to do so. I suspect, at some point, the whole thing will collapse for Iran. The sooner the better. I suspect if Iran collapses, then this whole thing will have the pedal to the metal. May be there now whereas Iran collapsing will make the reinstatement a whole lot better and, in my opinion, much faster.

Just my thoughts.

Go Moola Nova!
