General Eisenhower Warns US - 2.31 minutes

Recommended Posts

Great post Bigwave... And look what we've become... Exactly what he warned about. A country that profits from never ending war. A country that creates bogymen to keep the war machine turning. How many young Americans have died so corporations could profit, so those who run those corporations can live in luxury? How many senior citizens have gone hungry or have not had healthcare, because we spend our tax dollars on countless weapons of mass destruction? Why has America fallen in education, now ranking outside the top 20 countries in most categories? Why do Americans support those things that go against their fundamental beliefs?

President Eisenhower made a point to warn Americans against the evil that would take control. And here we are. A country that puts bombs before people. A country that kills for profit.

Thanks for the post.

It is that EXACT powerful military that ensures the peace of the world. Any other country with a large military are run by dictators who give their people No say. Many of those leaders are leaders for many years to life except for us. Do I believe there are war hawks in our country? Yes. Such as John Bolton and others. But having served under the Peanut Man, I can tell you for certain that many events worldwide during his term in office occurred because our adversaries saw us as weak, vulnerable and decided to take advantage of that weakness. I suggest if we had not raided the SSN fund, (thank you DemoRats) our budget would better off and if we did not give free shiite to every illegal here, from education to healthcare to welfare while our senior citizens suffer, perhaps there would be more money for things like that. JMHO.

Say it isn't SO, MD11Fr8Dawg!!!

Peace Through Pacifism AND Humanitarianism WHATEVER the Cost.

Carter had long dreamed of attending the U.S. Naval Academy. In 1941, he started undergraduate coursework in engineering at Georgia Southwestern College in nearby Americus.

He was a good student but was seen as reserved and quiet, in contrast to the academy's culture of aggressive hazing of freshmen.

Carter graduated 60th out of 820 midshipmen in the class of 1946 with a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned as an ensign.[7]

In 1952, Carter began an association with the US Navy's fledgling nuclear submarine program, then led by Captain Hyman G. Rickover.

During and after his presidency, Carter said that his experience at Chalk River had shaped his views on atomic energy and led him to cease development of a neutron bomb.[13]

In March 1953 Carter began nuclear power school, a six-month non-credit course covering nuclear power plant operation at Union College in Schenectady,[8] with the intent to eventually work aboard USS Seawolf, which was planned to be one of the first two U.S. nuclear submarines. However, Carter's father died two months before construction of Seawolf began, and Carter sought and obtained a release from active duty to enable him to take over the family peanut business.

Really sad 39 took over the family peanut business BEFORE his term as President THEN DESTROYED FAMILY BUSINESSES WHILE IN OFFICE.

One would think a person honorably discharged from Military Service to be A True The United States Of America Patriot especially with the Naval Academy training and experience in very advanced Military Technology like Nuclear Propulsion WITH nuclear armaments.

Neutron Bombs do one tenth the damage of convention Nuclear Bombs.

Carter threw a monkey wrench into the Fast Breeder Reactors.

Creating extra fuel in nuclear reactors, however, is not without its concerns: One is that the plutonium produced can be removed and used in nuclear weapons. Another is that, to extract the plutonium, the fuel must be reprocessed, creating radioactive waste and potentially high radiation exposures. For these reasons, in the U.S., President Carter halted such spent fuel reprocessing, making the use of breeder reactors problematic.

For a nuclear trained and future crew member of a nuclear submarine before leaving active service, the importance of the nuclear programs and the necessity for being on the leading edge should have been seen as a critical National Interest.

Peace Through Strength NOT Pacifism AND Humanitarianism.
