Trump Asks 'What The Hell Has Happened To Fox News' After Chris Van Hollen Interview
More

President Donald Trump lambasted Fox News Tuesday for interviewing Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, tweeting “this will be the beginning of the end for Fox.”

Following Van Hollen’s appearance in a 10-minute segment on the Fox show “America’s Newsroom” co-hosted by Ed Henry and Sandra Smith, the president tweeted that the network was “really pathetic” for “trying to be so politically correct by loading the airwaves with Democrats like Chris Van Hollen, the no name Senator from Maryland.”

“He has been on forever playing up the Impeachment Hoax,” Trump continued.

Really pathetic how @FoxNews is trying to be so politically correct by loading the airwaves with Democrats like Chris Van Hollen, the no name Senator from Maryland. He has been on forever playing up the Impeachment Hoax. Dems wouldn’t even give Fox their low ratings debates....

.....So, what the hell has happened to @FoxNews. Only I know! Chris Wallace and others should be on Fake News CNN or MSDNC. How’s Shep Smith doing? Watch, this will be the beginning of the end for Fox, just like the other two which are dying in the ratings. Social Media is great!

Trump famously favors Fox News, whose personalities are reliable enthusiasts of his presidency. But he has increasingly ripped into the cable network when he thinks it has failed to support him or featured opponents.

Van Hollen gave his take on the explosive report that former White House national security adviser John Bolton has drafted a book that buttresses the Democratic impeachment case alleging Trump blocked Ukrainian military aid until the country announced an investigation into Joe and Hunter Biden. Van Hollen said he believed the report would persuade senators to call witnesses in Trump’s impeachment trial.

“I do, because it really becomes impossible for any senators who say they’re speaking the truth to not call John Bolton as a witness,” Van Hollen said in the interview. He added that “relevant fact witnesses” need to be called, because the point of a trial “is to get to the truth of what happened.”

The interview wasn’t pointedly anti-Trump, though Trump’s response suggests he felt it was.

Notably, Trump’s tweets mentioned Shep Smith, the former Fox News anchor whom the president had often targeted. Smith left the network in October.

Trump also lashed out at CNN and MSNBC as “fake news,” and called MSNBC by the nickname Fox News personality Sean Hannity uses: “MSDNC.”

Trump Supports Her And Attacked Chris Wallace Today. In The Fox News Battle, Wallace Is Defending The House Impeachment Process And Is Being Very Rude To Katie Pavlich.
He claims Pavlich "doesn't have her facts straight." She is cool, calm and correct. Pavlich is shown wearing her grandfather's WW II helmet liner. He was a bushmaster in the Pacific.

Chris Wallace and Katie Pavlich of Fox News are having a well publicized feud, and he's rapidly becoming the Chris Mathews of Fox.
Wallace is the only person from Fox the liberals will approve as a town hall moderator because they know he won't challenge them.
He exploded at Pavlich yesterday and Bret Baier told him to "tone it down". She says witnesses should be heard before articles of impeachment are drafted, and it's the House's job, and not a Senate responsibility.
Pavlich pointed out that during the Clinton impeachment, all of the witnesses, including those from the grand jury investigation, were interviewed as part of the House impeachment process.
That was done before the articles were voted on and formally transmitted to the Senate. Wallace took issue with that, sparks flew and he had a temper tantrum.
Wallace defended the House Impeachment process while even Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii, a staunch anti-Trump Democrat, admitted they did a poor job with the discovery process.
The Senator said "If we were following the Clinton precedent, there would have been all of this discovery done at the House level, and that's not what's happening at all."
Pavlich says the Democrats claim impeachment is so critical to the nation that they decided to sit on it for a couple of weeks. She says "all of this is happening because Democrats don’t have the evidence" and they shouldn't be able to dictate Senate procedures.
If they wanted additional witnesses, Pavlich believes they should have heard them in the House.

Chris Wallace Scolds Fox News Contributor: 'Get Your Facts Straight' On Impeachment

January 27, 2020, 7:40 PM EST

Fox News host Chris Wallace lashed out at network contributor Katie Pavlich on Monday, moments before the Senate resumed President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, for misrepresenting what happened during President Bill Clinton’s 1998-1999 impeachment trial.

The tense exchange occurred as Pavlich, a news editor for conservative website Townhall, pitched in on Fox News’ special coverage of Trump’s Senate trial. She said Republicans are figuring out how to maintain “the dignity and integrity of the Senate” while considering whether to appease Democrats’ demand for the chamber to call additional witnesses.

“The Senate is not the House,” Pavlich said. “The House did not come with a complete case, and every impeachment beforehand the witnesses that had been called had been called in the House before being brought to the Senate, so there are questions here about the process ...”

Wallace interrupted to note that her statement was inaccurate.

“That’s not true,” he said. “They hadn’t all been called in the House. In the Clinton impeachment, they had been called by ... the independent counsel. They had not been called in the House.”

Pavlich began to clarify that some of the witnesses had been called during the Justice Department’s investigation of the Clinton case, which preceded the Senate trial.

“I understand, but they weren’t called in the House, so that’s just wrong, Katie,” Wallace said.

Whoa, sparks fly on Fox News: Chris Wallace tells @KatiePavlich, "Get your facts straight!" @BretBaier then says, "Let's tone it down."

Pavlich went on to explain that the House did not call all of the witnesses during Clinton’s impeachment but that the grand jury material from the Justice Department’s investigation was voted on and handed over to the Senate along with the articles of impeachment.

“That is the difference, and the process here does matter,” she said.

Co-host Bret Baier tried to move on from the tense exchange by noting that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was walking into the Senate chamber at that moment.

But Wallace wasn’t done digging into Pavlich’s remarks.

“I just want to pick up on this because, Katie, what you’re saying just isn’t true,” Wallace said.

He noted that the whistleblower complaint on Trump’s dealings with Ukraine was given to the inspector general for the intelligence community who then handed it over to the Justice Department, which subsequently decided not to investigate it.

“That is why it went to the House,” Wallace added. “So to say that in the Clinton investigation that these people were interviewed by the House ― one, they weren’t ― and ... the Justice Department refused to carry out the investigation. Get your facts straight.”

Baier then told Wallace to “tone it down” before Pavlich jumped in to defend herself again.

“The House voted on incomplete information and gave it to the Senate and now they are saying the Senate should call additional witnesses who have not been called before and who were not part of the House evidence that Mitch McConnell put into the record,” she said.

“So we just shouldn’t listen to what John Bolton has to say?” Wallace asked, prompting Pavlich to say she’s “not taking a side” and is simply “talking about what senators are saying and whether they should go with the process that has been laid out before.”

Chris Wallace did indeed press Katie hard on getting her facts straight.  He's pretty staunch about giving the viewers the truth and not misrepresenting the facts.  The longer Katie stays in the game, the better she'll get.....or she'll go the Hannity/Ingraham route and simply voice an agenda far beyond truth.  As always, just my opinion
