And any special deals or interests at the expense of the higher interests of the homeland and the citizen have become from the past and will not return again, regardless of the size of the internal and external pressures. Designated Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Allawi has met dozens of representatives of the demand protests in Baghdad and predominantly Shiite southern cities since October, an attendee reported Wednesday.

The protesters are demanding political reforms, notably the change of the ruling political class, and they have rejected Allawi's candidacy for prime minister as a candidate for the parties they have been protesting against for months.

On his nomination on February 1, Allawi announced his support for the protests and urged demonstrators to stick to their demands.

"Since the beginning of the week, Muhammad Allawi has held a series of meetings with dozens of representatives from the demonstrations in the eight provinces participating in the protests," said security analyst Hisham al-Hashemi, who attended the meetings.

Allawi pledged to release all protesters detained for demonstrations, to compensate the families of the dead during the violence linked to the protests, and to work with the United Nations to implement the demands of the demonstrators, according to Hashemi.

Allawi, 65, has worked twice as a communications minister since the 2003 US-led invasion, but he has resigned both times, accusing Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki at the time, regardless of corruption in Iraq, which ranks 16th among the most corrupt countries in the world, according to Transparency International. International.

Al-Hashemi stated that Allawi promised the delegations of the demonstrators that he would take measures to tackle corruption and the public sector by changing about 170 government officials by proxy and 450 general managers in various ministries.

The Prime Minister-designate also pledged to give activists two ministries as a maximum in the formation of his government, which must be formed no later than the second of March, and that he will take the opinion of protesters in five ministries within the next cabinet.

According to the constitution, Allawi must be given confidence by a parliament vote, after which to start the official term of his term. Until then, Allawi cannot make decisions and implement the promises of reforms he has undertaken.

The legal expert, Tariq Harb, revealed what will happen if the government is not formed within 30 days, while calling for an urgent formation.

Harb said in a press statement that "the duration of the formation of the second ministry in the same electoral cycle is one of the deadlines for the fall, that is, if the thirty-day period for the formation of the ministry ends, it cannot be extended and it cannot be reassigned to Allawi to form the government."

"The constitution obliged the president of the republic to appoint a new candidate instead of the one who was previously assigned, who failed to form in the thirty days," he added.

Yesterday, Friday, the MP from the Alliance of Amid Al-Aqabi asserted that the Sunni and Kurdish blocs are demanding their constitutional entitlements from the ministries, but Allawi wants to choose his government himself.

Baghdad / news

A political official source said today, Saturday, that the Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi will take a different approach in proposing his cabinet cabinet that differs from that of the heads of previous governments, noting that Allawi will present in his first meal the names of the ministers to the sovereign ministries, particularly the defense and the interior.

The source said to "Al-Akhbariya", that "Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi is fully aware of the mistakes made by his predecessors from the heads of previous governments who put forward the names of service ministries at the time and left the ministries that cause conflict between the political blocs, which leads to delaying the formation of the government," noting that " Allawi will put forward the names of the ministers of the sovereign ministries, particularly the defense and the interior.

He explained that "the Prime Minister-designate has put in the calculations of what the demonstrators will pour in the next stage, so he will grant the demonstration squares two or more ministries," noting that "Allawi is in constant contact with representatives of the demonstrations."

In his response to whether Allawi was subjected to political pressure, the source stressed that "the matter may not inevitably be free from pressure, but so far it can be called conditions, not pressures, and most of those conditions are acceptable and commensurate with what Allawi aspires to, who wants to find a balance in international relations in a way that suits the interest of Iraq. Noting that "Allawi is working on getting out of the principle of compatibility and quotas in choosing positions to adopt competency and integrity standards."

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, had commissioned Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to form a government to replace the article by the people, Adel Abdul Mahdi, on February 1 of this month, to present his cabinet in 30 days.

Anti-government demonstrators in Baghdad

A threat to Allawi .. "Al-Sadr will turn Iraq into hell and fall for it in 3 days."

Anti-government demonstrators in Baghdad

Send via media

 Print the article

A leader in the Sadrist movement threatened Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Allawi to "overthrow" him within three days and turn Iraq "hell" over him if he undertook to include people belonging to political parties, especially from the Shiite factions.

Kazem al-Issawi, security advisor to the Sadrist movement leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, in a meeting with media personnel, on Sunday evening, "If Mr. Muqtada heard that he (Allawi) gave to a party, particularly the (Shiite) factions, a ministry, then Iraq would turn him into hell and fall in three days."

He stressed that the Sadrist movement will not be part of the future government in any way.

Simultaneously, the Sadr militia practiced repression and intimidation against the demonstrators in the sit-in, VIP Street, where the religious leader's supporters attacked civilians, resulting in deaths in recent days.

Al-Sadr supported Allawi's assignment despite the protesters refusing to name him, as he is close to the ruling elite. His stance caused a rift in the protest movement that had been supporting it since its inception.

Al-Issawi warned against obstructing the birth of Allawi's government, explaining that "if pressure occurs and his government is not approved, we will surround the green (region)" where major government and diplomatic headquarters are located.

"They will accept them," they said.

It is assumed that Allawi, who was named prime minister after a difficult consensus reached by the political blocs, will present his formation to Parliament before the second of next March to vote on it, according to the constitution.

There is political competition between Sadr and the popular crowd, which includes armed groups that were part of the Shiite leader’s movement before, before they separated from him.

Allawi, 65, a former communications minister, was named on February 1, amid a consensus among political rivals after arduous negotiations on influential positions.

Although al-Sadr announced his support for the appointment of the former minister, Al-Issawi stressed that the current "is not adopted by Allawi, but what happened is that we were given no objection."

Since October 1, 2019, Baghdad and the Shiite-dominated cities of the south have witnessed demonstrations calling for early elections and fighting corruption, which prompted former Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to resign.

Al-Sadr faced criticism from the demonstrators after he changed his position more than once, starting with supporting the protests, to moving to the other camp and supporting Iran, until his supporters confronted the protesters in Najaf and Hilla, south of Baghdad, killing eight demonstrators.

Al-Issawi stressed that the Sadrist movement is not opposed to the demonstrations in which around 550 people have been killed since its inception, but with "cleaning up" of it.

"We are against the idea of breaking up (the protests). We are with their continuation but with cleaning and (inspection)," he said, after he said that there are those who "enter drugs" to their participants, stressing that the only red line is "the symbolism of Mr. Muqtada."
