Although he has not appeared in public in front of people since the killing of Qasim Soleimani on January 3, Qais Khazali issued a statement on the characteristics of the next Iraqi Prime Minister as he sees it, which sparked reactions refusing his interference in this regard, while some reactions were ridiculed by his condition that The candidate for prime minister pledges to "implement the agreement with China."

The statement, which was published by Qais Khazali’s media office on Twitter, included six conditions for choosing the next prime minister, in order to "thwart the project of sedition and end the controversy," he said.

The conditions included that the next prime minister be independent and not have a second nationality, in addition to "his pledge to remove foreign forces."

The well-known Iraqi writer, Ghalib Al-Shabandar Al-Khazali, strongly criticized, warning of the possibility of enslaving him, that is, Al-Khazali, for the Iraqi people "if it managed to capture Iraq."

Oh Qais Khazali, on what basis did you adopt to determine the specifications of the next prime minister and who gave you the authority! I told her a long time ago, and I repeat that if you were able to take Iraq, you would treat his people only like slaves, so I advise you to enter the homes of Iraqis to see if they are going to pledge to be your slaves and subject to your reference

Iraq and China had signed eight economic and oil agreements last year, the government did not announce its terms, or details of projects that Chinese companies intend to do in Iraq.

Mordadoun surprised Khazali’s relationship with the Chinese agreements, as he does not have the economic knowledge necessary to issue fatwas on such matters.

The protesters accuse the people of Asaib al-Haq's militia, led by Qais Khazali, of killing the protesters since the outbreak of the popular movement in October last year.

At least 500 protesters were killed during the movement, and thousands more were injured, while protesters escalated the methods of protest during the past days, after a week they gave to the government to fulfill their demands to choose a new prime minister and try those accused of killing the protesters.

Deputy: Saleh assumed the duties of Prime Minister, the director best suited to resolving the crisis

1/27/2020 9:02 PM

The independent deputy, Basem Khazaal Khashan, suggested that the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, assume the functions of prime minister as a solution to get out of the crisis.

"The issue of deciding the candidate for prime minister is complicated, and I cannot imagine that it will be decided this week because it is beyond the agreement," Khashan said

It is clear that "to pass a certain candidate by the parties, you must prepare for that after that, the quotas, and I do not envisage the nomination of a person far from their goal; but it is possible to nominate a consensual person on the condition of re-assigning the current ministers and this will not serve the street

"As for the university presidents, they were appointed through quotas, and they are among the special grades that were distributed on the basis of the proportions of Parliament. There is no university president currently who is not affiliated with a specific party, so I imagine that all of them are excluded from the nomination for prime minister

He pointed out, "We can get out of this crisis by assuming the functions of the prime minister and the post of prime minister, which is the most appropriate way for a solution

A well-informed political source told Al-Furat News that it is likely that the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, will decide his assignment for the candidate for prime minister at the beginning of next week, stressing that Saleh resumed yesterday, and upon his return from his travel abroad, his talks and made extensive contacts that will continue until the file is resolved

He pointed out that the President of the Republic is scheduled to meet tomorrow with representatives of the demonstrators tomorrow to discuss the file of the candidate for the next prime minister and the conditions that must be met, revealing changes in the list of candidates, and some of the names proposed have diminished their chances while other names have weakened a lot, and within New names emerged as candidates for the site, which were adopted by certain coalitions, most notably {Naim Al-Suhail}, an employee of the presidency and brother of the deputy, Hisham Al-Suhail

The representative of the new generation, Sarkot Shams al-Din, confirmed on Tuesday that the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, is not convinced by a number of candidates for the presidency of the government, and it is likely that all candidates will be rejected and the door of dialogue will be opened again.

Shams Al-Din said in a statement to "Information" that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, will delay the formation of the next government because of the differences between the political parties on the personality of the Prime Minister." He added, "Saleh is not convinced by several nominated personalities, and all candidates may refuse to initiate serious negotiations to resolve the file and accept a satisfactory figure for all parties, including the demonstrators."

Shams al-Din said that "the preconditions for the candidates for prime minister and the request for specific positions by political blocs complicate the crisis and increase the difficulty of Saleh in assigning the next prime minister."

SULAIMANI — Iraqi President Barham Salih has set a deadline of February 1 for the parties to select an acceptable prime ministerial candidate after two months of deadlock, according to a letter revealed on Wednesday (January 29).

If the parties are unable to agree by then, Salih threatened to make the selection of a candidate himself.

Such a move would doubtlessly raise constitutional objections. The largest bloc in the Council of Representatives is responsible for nominating the prime minister, who is then formally appointed by the president, whose role has historically been ceremonial.

On November 30, Adil Abdul Mahdi sent a letter to the Council of Representatives signaling his intention to step down under pressure from massive street protests in Baghdad and the southern provinces. Since then he has remained in power in a caretaker role.

Numerous names have been offered up to replace Abdul Mahdi, but vetoed in turn either by the president, the parties, or the street. Most dramatically, Salih threatened to resign if the parties insisted on nominating a governor of Basra who had been roundly rejected by protesters.

“Iraq faces a dangerous political juncture,” Salih said in the letter, which was sent to the heads of the political parties, arguing that lawmakers had a responsibility to fulfil the “legitimate demands of the people” to form a new government that would pave the way to new elections.

“Events are accelerating and the scene is getting more complicated on the official and popular levels,” Salih said, noting that the death toll from the protests continued to climb.

More than 500 people have been killed and 17,000 wounded since October 1, when mostly poor youth began turning out to protest corruption and call for root-and-branch changes to governance in Iraq.

“I call on you, as parliamentary blocs concerned with the nomination of the Prime Minister, to resume constructive and serious political dialogue in order to agree on a new candidate for the presidency of the Council of Ministers who has popular approval and to submit it to the Presidency of the Republic,” Salih wrote.

The President of the Republic warned that "If the concerned blocs are not able to resolve the nomination order by no later than Saturday, February 1, 2019, I see an obligation to exercise my constitutional powers by assigning those whom I find most acceptable to parliament and popularly, and within the framework of the outcomes of the consultations that I conducted during the last period with the powers Political and popular events. 25 h has ended
