On Thursday, the Pentagon announced the US desire to continue its presence in Iraq and the Middle East.

"Operations in Syria have not stopped against ISIS," said US Defense Department spokesman Sean Robertson, noting that "the Pentagon continues to plan and redeploy and is looking forward to resuming operations."

He added, "We have no intention of withdrawing from Iraq and our goal is to stay in the Middle East."

On Thursday, the spokesperson for the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Abdul Karim Khalaf, denied granting approvals to resume the US military's operations in Iraq.  And US military officials had confirmed earlier that the US military had resumed its joint operations with Iraq 10 days after it was suspended.

Saudi Prince: It Is Not In Saudi Arabia’s Interest To Withdraw An American From Iraq At Present

medium_2020-01-17-a82e7a6b9e.jpg

17th January, 2020

Saudi Prince Turki Al-Faisal said that the time has not yet come for the withdrawal of the United States forces from Iraq, considering that the withdrawal of these forces leaves the return of terrorist organizations such as Al-Qaeda, as happened in Afghanistan.

In his speech to CNBC, he indicated that Iraq would be more complicated and bloodshed if the American forces withdrew from Iraq.

Al-Faisal mentioned that the killing of Qassem Soleimani as the largest general in Iran was an important step, and as an invitation to Tehran to wake up, stressing that the American raid that killed Soleimani showed Iran that it cannot escape its provocations, especially last year, but it will not prevent it from continuing its agenda.

Al-Faisal said that Iran's leaders have a project to be the dominant representative of all Islam in the world, and they do so in a terrorist manner, stressing that the killing of Soleimani will not stop Iran's agenda.

He pointed out that Iran is using its agents in Arab countries to move towards its project such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthi group in Yemen.

US official: Saudi Arabia paid the first 500 million dollars for the deployment of our forces

image.jpeg.9f17cf573660e220e0e9780f1e7b213a.jpeg

17th January, 2020

US official revealed that Saudi Arabia paid about 500 million dollars last month to the United States as a first installment of compensation for the costs of the American forces present in the country, according to "CNN".

This came after the Pentagon and earlier this week could not confirm whether any sums had been paid, despite US President Donald Trump's statement that Riyadh "has already deposited a billion dollars in a bank account of the United States." CNN quoted Pentagon spokeswoman Rebecca Reparish as saying, "In line with the President's directives to increase the burden sharing of partners, the Ministry of Defense has involved Saudi Arabia in sharing the cost of these deployments (of US forces), which support regional security and prevent hostilities." The Saudi government has agreed to help ensure the cost of these activities, and has made the first contribution. " "Discussions are under way to formalize a mechanism for future contributions that offsets the cost of deployments," the spokeswoman said. CNN reported that the Saudi embassy in Washington did not respond to its request for comment.

The United States has deployed thousands of additional forces and missile defense batteries in Saudi Arabia, in response to what the Pentagon officials consider a growing threat from Iran. The funds paid by Saudi Arabia cover the total costs of deploying the forces, as well as combat aircraft and "Patriot" defensive missile batteries to protect Saudi oil installations from Iranian missile and aircraft attacks. Publications began after the Saudis described Iranian attacks on Aramco's oil facilities in September 2019.

With conditions, Trump issued the order to kill Soleimani seven months ago.

January 13, 2020

US President Donald Trump authorized the killing of Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani seven months before the American raid that killed him, but the president at the time linked his killing to Iran's persistence in its aggression and its killing of any American citizen, according to information reported by CBC News on five of Senior current and former officials of the US administration.

The site added that the presidential directive was last June, and Trump required that he be the last signature to allow the implementation of the operation to kill Soleimani.

According to the site’s data, this information explains the reason behind the proposal to kill Soleimani in the list of options that the army presented to Trump two weeks ago, in response to an attack by Iranian militias on a base in Iraq, in which an another site was killed.

According to officials, Trump's aides have put Soleimani's murder on a list of possible responses against any possible enemy against Iran.

John Bolton, a former security adviser, instructed Trump to sign the Soleimani killing in June after Iran shot down a US drone, a proposal even endorsed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to the website.

Trump rejected the proposal, according to the report, and renewed his permission for the operation only if Tehran crossed the "red line", which is to kill any American, according to the website quoted an informed official.

US intelligence officials have been tracking Soleimani's moves closely for years.

Pompeo, who was the first director of the CIA in the Trump administration, also asked the president to take a hard line with Soleimani for his seriousness.

According to CBC News, the idea of killing the Iranian general was raised in discussions in 2017 between the then National Security Adviser, retired general Herbert Raymond McMaster, and other administration officials about the president's national security strategy.

According to a former administration official involved in the discussions, killing Soleimani was only a possible option to exert maximum pressure on Tehran, and it was not an option seen as a first step, according to the site.

Soleimani was killed in a US raid near Baghdad airport, and Foreign Minister Pompeo told reporters: "We had specific information about an imminent threat, including attacks on American embassies."

Iranian protester speaks to Israeli station I24News, risks his life

The Iranian protester, under great risk, provided his opinion on the current political reality in Iran, Soleimani and Iran's nuclear weapons program.

An unnamed Iranian protester spoke to i24news on Thursday, describing the political and security situation in Iran, as well as providing his perception on the current events that have shaken the country.

The protester was required to cover his face and identity, in fear of potential severe repercussions associated with speaking to Israeli media, including imprisonment, torture and death.  The protester noted that speaking to Israeli media might result in "being arrested by the Basij (IRGC paramilitary forces)", clarifying that he "[knows] that the regime intends to identify protesters by closed-circuit (security) cameras."

He added that the regime has been "dispersing the people (protesters) as any price, by shooting tear-gas, by beating up people, by creating mayhem and terror."

i24 also asked the protester about the level of popular support for former IRGC Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in an American airstrike earlier this month, in which he states that "the Iranian people regarded Soleimani as a terrorist and criminal because he plundered the [Iranian] people's wealth, in suppressing (the demonstrations in) November, [where] he had a leading role. Soleimani spent [Iran's wealth] on his own terrorist activity, and (the terrorist activity) of the forces under his command, that is the Quds Force, in the Middle East. He massacred 1500 people (in Iran). He has done no service whatsoever for this country. The Iranian people know that he didn't fight ISIS, it was only an oppressive force, that has massacred half a million Syrians and acted against American forces in Iraq."

He further added that "while the Islamic Republic, by its broadcast authority and its media outlets, made this man a hero. Some people, who are endowed with less intelligence than average, and some who are connected to the government and work in government bodies, were lured and forced to attend Soleimani's funeral in Ahvaz, Mashhad, Tehran, Qom and Kerman. All the people you see in those videos are less than 5% of the people of Iran. I dare say 95% of the Iranian people expressed joy and happiness at the killing of Qasem Soleimani."

On the issue of Iran's nuclear weapons program, the protester said "Israel is worried that Iran will get a nuclear bomb, while promising to act if Iran gets close to nuclear capabilities. What is the feeling on the ground towards this threat? Look, the people are sick and tired of the Islamic Republic, regime. "[Iranians] are in no way ready to let this government stay for years and years. This government has to go at any price, and a secular government, who works in the people's interest, should come to power. For the Iranian people, the reality is that it makes no difference, whether this regime be eliminated by war, an external war, or through a revolution of the Iranian people. What the Iranian people want with all their being, is that the regime will fall."

"Also in the case of an Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, the people will not express any support of the regime or any condemnation of such a move by Israel, even though the regime, with its media-siege, wants to show that the people of Iran, will completely condemn this move."

"Every scene you see of Iranian television and media, and every news item you hear, has many exaggerations, and is not the truth. In order to get the truth, it's enough to ask the people, people who speak without any fanaticism. The truth is that among the people, the Islamic Republic regime has not legitimacy or reason for being anymore."

Kurdistan Sees US Presence in Iraq Vital: President

iraqi_kurdistan_region_prime_minister_nechirvan_barzani._reuters The Kurdistan Region believes that the presence of theUS and Coalition forces is vital to continue the battle against the Islamic State (IS) and to prevent the terrorist group from resurgence, said Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan, according to "BasNews".

In an interview with al-Monitor, Barzani explained that Erbil does not agree with a previous resolution the Shia majority blocs at the Iraqi parliament passed to ask the government for expelling the US and other foreign forces, noting that the move was unilateral without taking into consideration the opinion of the Kurds and the Sunni Arabs.

“Our view is that the decision taken by the Iraqi parliament was not a good one and the Kurds and the Sunnis did not take part in that decision. Moreover, it set a bad precedent. The decision was taken by the Shia bloc without consulting either of the key components of this country, the Kurds or the Sunni [Arabs]. It was a very critical step that was taken without seeking consensus and as such violates the spirit of the Iraqi Constitution. This is not good for Iraq, either now or in the future,” Barzani told al-Monitor.

The Kurdish president pointed out that the decision against the US presence in Iraq was made in an emotional situation in the wake of the killing of Iran’s top general Qasem Soleimani and Iraq’s Shia militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis by US in Baghdad while Washington did not coordinate the operation with the Iraqis.

Concerning Iran’s retaliatory missile strike on 8th January when it targeted the US military bases in Anbar and Erbil, and Tehran’s pressure on Baghdad to stand against Washington in the complicated situation,Kurdistan Region President said: “The Iraqi leadership has to hold the interests, the security and the stability of the country, of the Iraqi people, above all. The launching of the missiles was a very clear message to everybody that Iran has the will and the capacity to strike inside any part of Iraq.”
“In Kurdistan we do not wish Iraq to become a battleground where Iran and the United States settle their scores. Iraq’s relations with the United States are very important. But Iran is our longstanding neighbor. Since assuming office Prime Minister Mahdi has set out to avoid being dragged into the conflict between Iran and the United States,” Barzani added about the position of Kurdistan Region in the issue, noting thatKurdistan is not scared of Iran, but it respects Iran.

ISIS leader dubbed ‘Jabba the Jihadi’ captured in Iraq

0_Abu-Abdul-Bari A morbidly obese ISIS fanatic dubbed “Jabba the Jihadi” has been captured by Iraqi forces — who loaded him onto a flatbed truck because he couldn’t fit in a police car.

The 560-pound mufti Abu Abdul Bari, also known as Shifa al-Nima, was nabbed Thursday by an elite SWAT team of the Nineveh regiment in the city of Mosul, according to Stars and Stripes.

The jumbo jihadist was known for “provocative speeches against the security forces” and is considered one of the top leaders of “ISIS gangs,” Iraqi security officials said in a statement.

Bari issued religious decrees — or fatwas — ordering the execution of scholars and clerics who refused to pledge allegiance to ISIS when the terror group occupied the city, the statement said.

During the heyday of the group’s self-styled caliphate in 2014, he also ordered the destruction of a mosque built at the site believed to be the burial place of the biblical prophet Jonah, who once had a famous encounter with a whale.

Maajid Nawaz, founder of the London-based anti-extremism think Quilliam, also shared images of the heavyweight’s arrest.

“He was so overweight, maybe from remaining sedentary in his hiding place, that he had to be taken by police in the back of a pick up truck,” he wrote on Facebook.

“Most religious justifications provided to ISIS for enslaving, raping, torturing, ethnic cleansing & massacring Iraqis, Syrians & others are from this paltry beast who can’t even stand on his own two legs,” he wrote.

“Do not underestimate the psychological blow the image of this obese monster being arrested is to ISIS. Gluttony is frowned upon by jihadists. But also, ISIS branded themselves as fighters possessing rare courage & discipline… meanwhile this walrus was their top religious cleric.”

And in an ode to the epic space saga, he added: “Today was a good day for the Force & a bad day for evil.”

Macer Gifford, a British citizen who fought with a US-backed Kurdish militia in Syria, applauded the arrest and compared Bari to the slug-like gang lord of the Star Wars universe who lived on the desert planet Tatooine.

“I’m delighted to say that the Islamic State’s very own Jabba the Hutt has been captured in Mosul,” he said in a tweet.

“As long as the Devil bastes him properly Shifa al Nima should crisp nicely in hell… He literally looks like the world’s biggest chicken,” Gifford said.

Referring to Bari’s heft, he added: “Good luck hanging him Iraq.”

Iran and the end of the time of smartening America

%D8%B3%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%

The Iranian regime cannot change its skin. This is due to the fact that this system was originally based on the idea of "exporting the revolution" and on the refusal to recognize the Iranian people and their aspirations. This is confirmed by the disasters that afflicted the whole region and Iran itself. At the forefront of these disasters is the Iraq-Iran war.
That war erupted in September 1980 and ended in the summer of 1988, with the proclamation of Ayatollah Khomeini, the "guide", at which time the poison cup was swallowed.

There has always been disagreement over the true history of the outbreak of that war. When Saddam Hussein was president of Iraq, Iraq is considered to have erupted on the fourth of September, when the newly announced "Islamic Republic" began to molest Iraq militarily along the borders between them. On the other hand, Iran considers that the beginning was with the widespread attack launched by the Iraqi army on the twenty-second of that month, an attack that Saddam Hussein thought, with his limited political experience of what is going on outside the borders of Iraq, that it would lead to a rapid military defeat of Iran and the fall of the new regime.

What happened, in practice, is that the "Islamic Republic" was the primary beneficiary of that war, given that Khomeini, who had turned against the liberals and moderates who participated in the revolution against the Shah and disposed of them one by one, took advantage of the Iraqi attack to the fullest extent. There is no need to restore details of the events that have occurred in Iran since the return of Khomeini and the departure of the Shah, including the disposal of the Mehdi Bazargan government in parallel with the occupation of the US embassy in Tehran and the detention of its diplomats for 444 days starting in November 1979.

Iran has invested in ruin. Despite this, its system remains unchanged, especially as it believes that the "Islamic Republic" has something to offer its neighbors and what is beyond its neighbors.

The Iranian regime can only be hardline. Just because he has no other option, that is, the option of Iran being a normal country. If it were a normal country, it would have found a formula for coexistence with Iraq instead of continuing to sow ruin and destruction throughout those eight years of war in order to revive the Persian national spirit and get rid of the regular army, the Shah's army, by sending it to the war fronts.

Since the end of the Iraq-Iran war, a war that ended in the semi-Iraqi victory, nothing has changed in the “Islamic Republic”, which I believed has always been able to cook for successive American administrations. Moreover, Iran cannot undo all the victories achieved since 2003, the date of the American invasion of Iraq and the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's regime. Iraq was the biggest prize for Iran. Iran has achieved a historic dream of revenge against Iraq, especially after the transfer of Iraqi sectarian militia leaders fought alongside the "Revolutionary Guard" to Baghdad on the back of an American tank.

In light of these facts, it is impossible for the Donald Trump administration to deal with Iran as if it were engaging with a natural country with which to take and respond. The problem in Iran is due, these days, to the fact that no one in Tehran wants to admit that the time for smartening Americans has ended. What Iran has lost by eliminating the Americans from Qasim Soleimani is a loss to the crown jewel in the empire that the Revolutionary Guards dreamed of establishing in the region. This dream was renewed in 2003, after George Bush Jr. handed Iraq over a plate of silver to Iran.

It is no more difficult for Iran to come to terms with reality, including with the fact that Iraq, which it wants to turn into an Iranian protectorate, is of a sectarian outlook before anything else. Iraq is not an easy-to-follow country, just as Iraqi Arab Shiites have enough patriotic sentiment to rise up against Iranian colonialism in all its forms and all its tools.

It is not just Iraq, which is hard for Iran. There is a huge investment in Syria that does not seem to be beneficial in the long run. This investment forced Iran to spend billions of dollars in order for Bashar al-Assad to remain in Damascus. It is no secret that the head of the Syrian regime has positioned himself since his father's succession in the Iranian bag, out of great admiration for the person of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and his slogans. In the end, what is the result of the Iranian investment in Syria that included sending fighters from Hezbollah to defend the regime of Bashar al-Assad and changing the demographic composition in certain areas, on top of which is Damascus and its surroundings and all the Lebanese-Syrian border strip, as well as going to Aleppo and its vicinity? The answer is that Vladimir Putin came to Damascus at a certain moment to say very frankly that Syria is in the custody of Russia and nobody else, and that all the guarantees required by Israel are in the custody of Moscow and nobody else.

Iran has invested in ruin. Despite this, its system remains unchanged, especially as it believes that the "Islamic Republic" has something to offer to its neighbors and what is beyond its neighbors, that is, to Yemen, to name a few.

It is time to face the truth. There is far beyond the liquidation of Qasim Soleimani. There is a return to Iran to take its normal size and give up the illusion of the superpower in the region. This does not appear to be acceptable in Tehran, which has an appetite for further publication of misery in a non-Arab country.

Yes, Iran cannot change because any change means recognition of failure on the one hand, and recognition of the Iranian people and their aspirations on the other. The last thing that matters to the Iranian people is revenge for Qasim Soleimani, who turns out that all of his investments outside the Iranian borders were of the kind of little use. Well, Iran fought against the Syrian people alongside Bashar al-Assad, that is, the future of Bashar after all that befell Syria. But any future for Syria?

To put Iraq aside, what is the benefit of investing billions of dollars in "Hezbollah" other than to deliver Lebanon to the state of collapse that it reached, while it could benefit from its geographical location and the Arabs embracing it instead of being an isolated country looking for friends as is the case now.

Nothing succeeds like success. This is what the Islamic Republic has not been able to absorb. It did not understand, in particular, that spreading ruin and misery cannot be a policy, and that the establishment of sectarian militias in this or that country cannot but fall back on the owner of the idea of these militias. What is good for Iran, the Islamic Republic, is nothing before reconciling with its people first.

Kurdish lawmaker: America will not leave Iraq to its opponents ... removing its forces will lose the air cover

Politics 01/21/17 17:33 670 Editor: ht

Baghdad today - private

Jamal Cougar, a member of the Kurdistan Islamic Union bloc, considered Friday (January 17, 2020) that the United States of America will not leave Iraq to be a fertile ground for its opponents in order to gain the spoils .

"There are alternatives in the event that the United States imposes sanctions on Iraq, such as Russia or China, but we must not forget that America will not leave Iraq to its opponents to gain the loot," Cougar said in an interview (Baghdad Today).

He added that "the Iraqi government should not rush in its decisions regarding the removal of foreign forces," stressing that we are not with any foreign forces remaining on Iraqi soil, but their departure must be the least losses.

He continued, "We must be realistic in our decisions because the time is not right, given the danger of ISIS still exists," noting that "the expulsion of foreign forces will lose us the airspace, because we do not have security forces capable of controlling the borders without the assistance of the international coalition forces, as well as Weapons remain in the hands of many political parties. "

Earlier, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, said on Friday (January 17, 2019) that the decision of the Iraqi parliament to remove American forces from Iraq was not a good decision as it was taken by the Shiite bloc only without consulting with the other major components in the country.

Barzani stated in a press interview, "The decision taken by the Iraqi parliament regarding the removal of foreign forces was not a good decision and the Kurds and Sunnis did not participate in this decision, moreover, it sets a bad precedent, as the decision was taken by the Shiite bloc without consulting any One of the main components of this country, the Kurds and the Sunnis (Arabs) It was a very decisive step taken without seeking consensus and thus violating the spirit of the Iraqi constitution, this is not good for Iraq now or for the future.

He added, "The question that must be addressed first is: Why are the American forces present here? They are here at the invitation of the Iraqi government in 2014 and in consultation with the United Nations Security Council when the Islamic State was on the outskirts of Baghdad, and the second: Is the current situation in Iraq The withdrawal of US and coalition forces is justified in view of its mission, which is to help defeat the Islamic State? As much as we are the Kurdistan Regional Government, we are concerned that the answer is not clear, as all intelligence indicates that ISIS regrouped and that they were carrying out attacks against Iraqi targets On a daily basis, hence, the interest of Iraqi Kurdistan concerns the American forces as much as it is in the interest of all of Iraq. "

Nechirvan Barzani continued, "Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi's recent visit to Kurdistan, in which he confirmed that he is looking to solve this issue through dialogue instead of confrontation, the idea will be to reach a new formula, reshaping if you will, for the future presence of American forces and forces." The coalition in Iraq, "indicating that" the presence of American and coalition forces is necessary for all of Iraq. "

Kurdish source: Barzani discussed with US officials the establishment of 4 new military bases in Kurdistan

Baghdad today - Erbil

A political source familiar with the matter revealed that the meetings between American officials and leaders of the regional government during the past two days focused on a set of points.

The source said (Baghdad today) that "American military and political delegations met with the President of the Territory, Negervan Barzani, and the Prime Minister, Masroor Barzani, and his deputy, to discuss the file of the American presence inside Iraq and the region as well."

He added that "the process of continuing Kurdish support for the survival of the American forces was discussed, and he refused to withdraw or cancel the security agreement and cooperation in the field of establishing 4 military bases, including the silk base in the Kurdistan region."

He pointed out that "discussed the strengthening of diplomatic relations as well as cooperation in the political and economic field and the speedy opening of the largest American consulate in the world in the city of Erbil."

In the context, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, said that the decision of the Iraqi parliament to remove American forces from Iraq was not a good decision as it was taken by the Shiite bloc only without consulting with the other major components in the country.

Barzani said in a press interview, "The decision taken by the Iraqi parliament regarding the removal of foreign forces was not a good decision and the Kurds and Sunnis did not participate in this decision, moreover, it sets a bad precedent, as the decision was taken by the Shiite bloc without consulting with any One of the main components of this country, the Kurds and the Sunnis (Arabs) It was a very decisive step that was taken without seeking consensus and thus violating the spirit of the Iraqi constitution, this is not good for Iraq now or for the future.

The Iranian people are great. I've known a few. Fabulous history, they gave much to the world. But today: Their leaders are losers. I hope they have a Revolution in Iran, because Iran runs on Islamic form of government and Islamic expansion as an ideal. That is a loser idea. Islamic joint political and religious expansion has no future. Iran is on the wrong side of history. Religion and government must be kept separate. Christians figured this out, 2,000 years ago when Jesus said, "Render unto Caesar, what is Caesar's, render unto God, what is God's.....Even Iranians don't want their crappy form of theocratic Islamic government. No one wants their crappy form of government. It belongs in the Middle Ages. It's fine for a pre-industrial society, but not for today. Certainly not for the future. Iran will lose, Islamic government will lose.....it isn't adapted to the modern world.  Christianity adapted to the modern world. Christianity created the modern world, in fact. But Islam is stuck in the past. Muslims can have a good future, with their religion respected, if they keep their religion and government separated from each other. But a theocracy based Islamic government is bound to fail.

I have no idea when Iran will fail. All I know is, it's a certainty.

Al-Nujaifi: Washington is the gateway to dealing with the world and removing its forces means handing Iraq over to Iran

17th January, 2020

The leader of the Salvation and Development Front, Ethel Nujaifi, confirmed today, Friday, that Washington represents the gateway to dealing with the international community, explaining that removing Iraq from the American forces from its territories means that Iraq is totally handed over to Iran.

Iraqi Army Confirms Capture of “Jumbo” IS Leader

18th January, 2020

Iraq War Media Cell has confirmed the capture of an obese Islamic State (IS) senior member in Mosul after his pictures at the time of capture went viral on social media.

Several pictures were circulated by social media users in the past few days, one showing an overweight man laying down on the floor while the other showing the security forces loading him onto a flatbed truck allegedly because he could not fit in a police vehicle.

War Media Cell, part and parcel of Iraqi army, said in a statement that the man, identified as Abu Abdul Bari, also known as Shifa al-Nima, was captured during an operation in Mosul, north of Iraq. Bari served as IS's Mufti - the religious leader who issues decrees - during the group's rule in Mosul between 2014 and 2017.

According to the statement, Bari issued multiple orders of execution against clerics who refused to follow IS after Mosul fell into the hands of the jihadists. He also ordered the explosion of religious sites and the burial place of the biblical prophet Jonah in the city which were considered historical locations. He was captured earlier this week by an elite SWAT team of the Iraqi armed forces.

Good Collar . . .

I fully expect them to make " an example " of this IS's Mufti.
