US Army Tells Iraq It Is Preparing To "Move Out" Out Of "Respect For Sovereignty" by Tyler Durden Mon, 01/06/2020 - 15:11 0 SHARES TwitterFacebookRedditEmailPrint As it turns out, President Trump's decision to kill Iranian General and revolutionary icon Qasem Suleimani - an attack that millions of Trump's liberal critics warned could risk starting WWIII - might have given the US exactly the cover it needs to pull out of Iraq, once and for all. In a letter obtained by AFP whose authenticity has since been confirmed by both US and Iraqi defense officials, the US Army has told Iraq that it is preparing to "move out" citing "respect for Iraqi sovereignty." Full letter below: sLTG Abdul Amir Deputy Director, Combined Joint Operations Baghdad Iraq - Ministry of Defense Your Excellency, Sir, in due deference to the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq, and as requested by the Iraqi Parliament and the Prime Minister, CJTF-OIR will be repositioning forces over the course of the coming days and weeks to prepare for onward movement. In order to conduct this task, Coalition Forces are required to take certain measures to ensure that the movement out of Iraq is conducted in a safe and efficient manner. During this time, there will be an increase in helicopter travel in and around the International Zone (IZ) of Baghdad. This increased traffic will include CH47, VH-00, and AH-64 security escort helicopters. Coalition Forces will take appropriate measures to minimize and mitigate the disturbance to the public. In addition, we will conduct these operations during hours of darkness to help alleviate any perception that we may be bringing more Coalition Forces into the IZ. As we begin implementing this next phase of operations, I wish to reiterate the value of our friendship and partnership. We respect your sovereign decision to order our departure. Very Respectfully, WILLIAM H. SEEKLY III Brigadier General, U.S. Marine Corps Commanding General, TF-Iraq Yesterday, Iraqi lawmakers voted to expel foreign troops from the country during an emergency parliamentary session. Interim Iraqi prime minister, Adil Abdul Mahdi, stressed during the session, that while the US government notified the Iraqi military of the planned strike on Soleimani, his government denied Washington permission to continue with the operation. Though the Iraq war 'officially' ended in 2011, thousands of coalition troops stuck around. Their numbers increased following the rise of ISIS in the region. Ending the US troop presence in Iraq has been a longtime goal of non-interventionists like Ron Paul and his son, Rand. Of course, Trump has gone back on promises to pull troops before (remember Syria?), and, as we noted just moments earlier, other reports claim thousands of Marines are headed toward Iraq as we speak. In any event, over the past few years, Trump has become an expert at managing public opinion - after all he singlehandedly tweeted the market to new all time highs - and it's possible that this is simply more rhetoric. On the other hand, if the troops really do come home, it would beg the question: Was Trump playing 5-D chess after all? 254 3035 Iraq Is Most Vulnerable Country to U.S.-Iran Escalation: Kpler's Falakshahi NEVER MISS THE NEWS THAT l MOST ZEROHEDGE DIRECTLY TO YOUR INBOXReceive a daily recap featuring a curated list of must-read storThat said, even without troops in Iraq, the US will still have plenty of capacity to bully Iran, and other otherregionalpowers 2

Seely III, the commanding general of Task Force Iraq. The authenticity of the letter, which was addressed to the Iraqi defense ministry’s Combined Joint Operations Baghdad, was confirmed to Reuters independently by an Iraqi military source. “We respect your sovereign decision to order our departure,” it said. Sink or swim time now for Iraq. Trump's been trying to get us out of the middle east but congress kept putting up road blocks. The last time Trump was going to pull the troops out of Syria and members of congress lost their collective Trump derangement minds and stopped Trump. This was a brilliant move by Trump. Got rid of a high value target and the pulling out our troops. 1

So, just a question, not debating anything here, but if we leave Iraq then wouldn't that pretty much end our hopes for an RV , because all the bad players will move into Iraq like they did when we pulled out of Syria? 2
Spartakus
I thought it was bad when Obama did it why is it good now if true? I think it's fake news because we would be handing Iraq to Iran and Isis totally.

At this point I personally don't think it matters. I have a funny feeling either way we are still going to be sitting here three to four years from now on up to the 20 year mark and still waiting for that RV. That's the way I'm looking at it. I'll be colored more than surprised if an RV happens sooner rather than later. 3

Artitech
President Trump said in a tweet I believe it was Saturday, the US was not pulling out till Iraq paid us for the USAF base near Baghdad. I believe the distance was around 170 miles from Baghdad! I know the DT knows how to find that tweet! I saw it on FOX news! I believe that if the US pulls out of Iraq, you can take dinar right to you bathroom and use it for toilet paper! We are hearing from right from Defense Secretary no pull out ! Case closed! 🤠 1

dinarham
I believe that the pallets of loaded US cash delivered to Iran by Obama paid for the weapons used to kill innocent and exploited people . Obama's "stategic patience " policy was a cowardly excuse to do nothing but make people like him . He pulled our troops out early of Iraq just to keep a campaign promise . He wasn't privy to what the hell was going then ,but made this commitment anyway . Did any of the Uranium sold by Hill makes its way to Iran ? Strategic patience , cowardly ,how to save your own ass . How about strategic action where you take out a big Iranian gun yet know you will receive big blowback ? 1 1 10
