Editorial statement: Parliament throws the country into “stupid adventures” and is ready to sacrifice our lives.

Baghdad-Iraq today:

The protestors of Tahrir Square issued a statement about the recent developments, in which they gave the President of the Republic 3 days to submit the name of a candidate for prime minister in the transitional period.

The protesters threatened in the statement, which received "Iraq Today" a copy of it, "a new revolution in all of Iraq" against the backdrop of the parliament’s decision, which they said was "plunging Iraq into stupid adventures."

The text of the statement:

Our brothers, our dear sons, we have been from the first day that we went out into the arenas of protest, believing that this authority is represented by Parliament and the government that emanates from it, an enemy power for the people and the nation, that works against its interests and has never wavered in its destruction of non-national interests.

And what happened yesterday in the parliament session from acts that are not related to the national interest, trying to plunge Iraq into an international conflict that has nothing to do with it, and sent a negative image of it as a country totally biased in favor of an axis against another axis, which is something we totally reject and consider it as an aggression against our homeland from Before a brute authority, it was the first to defend its interests, not the interests of other countries, and reject sub-affiliations in favor of belonging to the homeland.

In response to the grave challenges that our dear Iraq is going through:

1- We invite you, our fellow citizens, to stand up and stand seriously against those who are trying to destroy the homeland by sticking it with foolish adventures, back to dark ages that we experienced and escaped from its clutches miraculously, in response to non-national interests, and regardless of who the intended destination , In or out of power.

2- It is necessary to speed up, without any delay, and no later than three days, by the President of the Republic choosing a temporary Prime Minister, and as his terms set the stage, his task is to prepare the appropriate ground for holding early and fair elections under UN supervision for a period not exceeding six months.

3- The current parliament lacks legitimacy, due to the massive boycott of the 2018 elections, and in order to complete its legitimacy, it must not take any measures and not issue any decisions against the interests of Iraq and its oppressed people.

4 - Any procrastination or delay in meeting these demands, will make the revolutionaries of the sit-in squads on a date to repeat the revolution of 10/1/2019 again and in a greater and greater manner and in all parts of Iraq, because the threat to the homeland is great and destructive, under the care of a messy hand that wants to throw him into the abyss, and we as a Revolutionaries came out and we are expecting death, and we will again offer ourselves to death if the price is the security of the homeland and our dear people.

Iraq and glory to the martyrs of the revolution, and shame to the killers

Politics 01/2020 11:40 3549 Editor: am

    Baghdad today - Kurdistan

A source familiar with the Kurdistan region stated, on Tuesday (January 07, 2020), that the Kurdistan region informed the United States of America that it is not concerned with the decisions of the Iraqi parliament on the removal of foreign forces from Iraq, and that cooperation should be at the highest levels in the economic, military and political aspects.

The source said in an interview with (Baghdad today), that "the Kurdistan region will go toward expanding relations with the American side, despite the decision of the Iraqi parliament, which committed the government to work to end the presence of foreign forces in Iraq."

The source affirmed, "The continued operation of the (silk) air base, which is to become one of the largest military bases in the Middle East."

He added, "According to an agreement signed between the Commander in Chief of the Peshmerga, the region's president, Nechirvan Barzani, and the US Secretary of Defense, Mark Esber, the United States of America continues to build five military bases, which will be distributed in the provinces of Erbil and Dohuk, specifically in Shaqlawa and Atrush."

He pointed out that "the silk base located in Shaqlawa District, north of Erbil Governorate, which is located in Shaqlawa Airport, will be one of the largest bases in Iraq and the Middle East, and work will continue in an area that exceeds hundreds of acres."

He pointed out that "the region informed Washington that it is not concerned with the decisions taken by the Iraqi parliament and that cooperation in the next stage should be at the highest levels from the political, economic and military aspects, while the Peshmerga Ministry submitted a request to the international coalition not to include it in suspending the training of Iraqi forces."

The states continue to build their largest consulate in the world on an area of 200,000 dunums in the city of Erbil, while it recently transferred all its citizens to the Kurdistan region after the recent events.

On Sunday (January 05, 2020), the Iraqi Council of Representatives voted unanimously on a parliamentary resolution that includes obliging the Iraqi government to cancel the request for assistance submitted by it to the international coalition to fight ISIS, and the Iraqi government's commitment to end the presence of any foreign forces in Iraqi territory, and to prevent it from Using Iraqi lands, waters and airspace for any reason, and the Iraqi government is committed to restricting weapons to the state.

The decision included the Iraqi government represented by the Foreign Minister urgently going to the United Nations and the International Security Council and filing a complaint against the United States of America for its violations of and serious breaches of the sovereignty and security of Iraq, and the Iraqi government to conduct investigations at the highest levels to know the causes of the American bombing and inform the House of Representatives of the results within seven Days from the date of this decision, which is implemented from the date of voting on it, in addition to the possibility of proceeding with the legislation legislation to abolish the strategic framework agreement between Iraq and the United States of America.

And the region is witnessing an unprecedented tension, after an assassination operation carried out by the United States targeting the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Authority, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, in an air strike in a plane that crashed at dawn last Friday, in the vicinity of Baghdad Airport, to threaten the Iranian government An "overwhelming" cold to avenge Soleimani.

Qasim Soleimani .. the king of wrong accounts!

%D8%A8%D9%84%D9%88%D9%85%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%B1%D8%BA-341x341.jpg

Contrary to many articles published about General Qassem Soleimani, who described him as the most powerful man and architect of its expansion in the region, the well-known American writer Thomas Friedman had a different opinion. One of the streets of Tehran, because Trump ordered the assassination of the most stupid man in Iran and whose strategic importance in the Middle East has been exaggerated: Major General Qassim Soleimani.
And let's look at the wrong accounts that Soleimani did. In 2015, the United States and the major European powers agreed to lift all sanctions imposed on Iran, many of which date back to 1979, in exchange for Iran halting its nuclear program, while reserving its right to build a peaceful nuclear program. It was a great deal for Iran. Its economy grew 12 percent in the following year. What did Soleimani do with this sudden gain?

Soleimani and the Supreme Leader launched an aggressive regional imperial project that made Iran and its proxies the de facto dominant force in Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad, and Sanaa. This upset the United States' allies in the Arab world and Israel, and they pressed the Trump administration to respond. Trump himself, was eager to tear up any treaty concluded by President Obama, so he withdrew from the nuclear agreement and imposed oil sanctions on Iran, which led to its economy shrinking by almost 10 percent and raising the unemployment rate to 16 percent. All this happened so that Tehran would say it was controlling Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad and Sanaa. What is the use?

With the Tehran regime deprived of funds, the ayatollahs were forced to raise gasoline prices at home, which led to protests. This necessitated a crackdown by the clergy against their people, which resulted in the killing and arrest of thousands, which weakened the legitimacy of the regime. Fish in a barrel and then the "Genius Military" (Soleimani) decided that, after supporting the Bashar al-Assad regime and helping to kill half a million Syrians, trying to exert direct pressure on Israel, by trying to transfer high-precision guided missiles from Iran to its proxies in Lebanon and Syria . But he discovered, fighting Israel with the air power, special forces and electronic intelligence it possesses - not like fighting against Jabhat al-Nusra or ISIS. The Israelis have responded strongly, killing a large number of Iranians in Syria and attacking their agents in places that have reached western Iraq. In fact, the Israeli intelligence services penetrated the Quds Force and its agents to the point that the plane loaded with precision munitions was landing in Syria at five in the evening, and the Israeli Air Force bombed it at five thirty in the evening. Soleimani's men were like fish in a barrel. If Iran had a free press and a real parliament, Soleimani would have been dismissed for his flagrant mismanagement. But for Soleimani, things have gotten better, or - rather - worse.

It was reported in many of his obituaries that he had led the war against ISIS in Iraq, in a tacit alliance with America. And it is true. But what they neglected was that Soleimani and Iran’s transgressions in Iraq were the ones that helped the rise of ISIS, in the first place. An imperial power Soleimani and his Quds Force colleagues were the ones who pushed former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki to expel Sunnis from the government and the army, stop paying the salaries of Sunni soldiers, kill large numbers of peaceful Sunni protesters and turn Iraq into a sectarian and Shiite-dominated state. ISIS was nothing but a response to that. Finally, Soleimani’s project to make Iran the imperial power in the Middle East was what turned Iran into the most hated power in the Middle East for many young and pro-democracy forces in both Sunnis and Shiites, in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq. As American researcher of Iranian descent, Ray Takeh noted in an article in the Politico Magazine, “In recent years, Soleimani has begun to expand Iran's imperial borders. For the first time in its history, Iran has become a true regional power, stretching its influence from the shores of the Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf. Soleimani realized that the Persians were not ready to die on the remote battlefields for the sake of the Arabs, so he focused on recruiting Arabs and Afghans as a support force. He often boasted that he was able to create and deploy a militia in a short time against various enemies of Iran.

Exactly within the state, these are the proxies of Soleimani - Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria, the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, and the Houthis in Yemen - who created pro-Iranian states within these states. It is these countries within the states that have helped prevent any of these countries maintaining their unity or fighting corruption, and have prevented the development of infrastructure such as schools, roads, and electricity. As a result, Suleimani and his “kingmates” in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq are increasingly seen as imperialist powers in the region, more than America Trump. This led to the launch of a popular democratic movement from the base to the top, in Lebanon and Iraq that included Sunnis and Shiites who were united to demand democratic, non-corrupt and non-sectarian rule. On November 27, Iraqi Shiites burned the Iranian consulate in Najaf, removed the Iranian flag from the building, and raised the Iraqi flag. This was after, in September 2018, Iraqis set fire to the Iranian consulate in Basra, and chanted against Iran's interference in Iraqi politics. Volume 0% Certainly, the whole process of "protest" against the compound of the United States embassy in Baghdad last week was a measure by Soleimani to make it appear as if the Iraqis were demanding the departure of the American forces, while the Iraqis were calling for the withdrawal of Iran.

The demonstrators were members of the pro-Iranian militia. No one in Baghdad was fooled by this. Trump did not eat the bait - that was - in a way - the cause of Soleimani's death. He wanted to cover up his failures in Iraq, so he decided to start provoking the Americans there by bombing their forces, hoping that they would exaggerate their reaction and kill the Iraqis in order to turn against the United States. Instead of eating the bait, Trump decided to kill Soleimani. I do not know if this decision is wise or will have long-term complications. But there are two things about the Middle East. The first, often in the Middle East, is the opposite of the word “bad” not “good”. Often it turns out to be a "mess." Just because neutralizing a bad element like Soleimani does not mean that a good element replaces it, or that a good change will happen in Iran's policy. Soleimani is part of a system called the Islamic Revolution. This revolution has managed to maintain power using oil money and violence since 1979. This is the tragedy of Iran, and it is a tragedy that the Soleimani killing will not change. Iran today is the heir of a great civilization, a highly gifted people, and an important culture.

The fact that Soleimani is the most famous Iranian in the region says a lot about the absolute void of this system, and how it has wasted the lives of two generations of Iranians by searching for dignity in all the wrong places and in all the wrong ways.

Fake victories

The second thing is that in the Middle East, all the important politics happen the next morning. Yes, in the coming days there will be noisy protests in Iran, burning American flags and crying for the "martyr". The next morning, there will be a thousand quiet conversations inside Iran that will not be announced. They will talk about the tragedy of their governments and how much of Iran's wealth and talent has been wasted in an imperial project that has made Iran hated across the Middle East.

What are the US sanctions expected to be imposed on Iraq?

lh.jpg

In the first American reaction to the Iraqi parliament’s decision to compel the government to remove foreign forces from the country, President Donald Trump threatened the possibility of imposing sanctions on Iraq that exceeded those imposed on Iran, which was confirmed by American press reports on Tuesday, saying that senior White House officials prepared a list For possible sanctions on Iraq.

An Iraqi adviser to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers in Baghdad said, with a brief talk, that they expect focused sanctions if they happen, and there are indications of Washington's seriousness in this, in case Iraq insists on implementing the parliament’s decisions. He told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, asking not to be named, that the sanctions would start from ending Iraq’s exemption from dealing in buying Iranian electricity and gas, through stopping the sale of spare parts and ammunition to the Iraqi army, whose American weapons amount to about 70 percent of its general arsenal, including That is F-18 fighters, as the Central Bank of Iraq is also expected to be subject to sanctions, as well as other banks, with penalties that will affect dozens of political and factional figures (militias) in Iraq.

He suggested that "the Kurdistan Region is excluded from those sanctions, as Washington seeks to isolate it from the Iraqi political and security scene at the present time."

He said: "The skin of Iraq cannot tolerate any sanctions now, and it may be catastrophic, and it will affect the poor and simple people. As for the officials and politicians, they are not immune from them."

“A former lawmaker believes that Iraq will pay a heavy price in the event of US sanctions"

According to a member of the Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi parliament , former Hamid al - Mutlaq, Iraq will pay a heavy price in the event of US sanctions imposed on him, saying for" new Arab "that the military will bear the brunt as a result of these sanctions.
He called on the political forces and the caretaker government to think rationally and work according to the interests of the Iraqi people away from the interests of other countries, indicating that any deterioration in the security aspect will certainly be reflected in other areas of life, such as tourism, manufacturing, education, and others.
And he called for prudence and avoiding problems and plunging Iraq into crises that it is indispensable for, explaining that American sanctions will be extremely harmful to Iraq, which is going through exceptional circumstances. And he stressed the need to stay away from haste and cramping in the presence of people far from proper decision-making, pointing out that talking about sanctions brings back to mind the economic embargo imposed by America and its allies on Iraq in 1991, after his invasion of Kuwait.
He continued: “We are now going through worse conditions than the time of the siege in the nineties, because the ration card used to deliver food supplies to every Iraqi family, but now, the Iraqi people are exposing their chest to lead, and dying for a living,” adding: “We have to imagine the tragedy. What will happen to the Iraqis if they are imposed sanctions while they are going through these difficult circumstances. ”

After Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in August 1990, America and its allies in the war imposed a comprehensive economic blockade on Iraq, the effects of which continued until the occupation of Iraq by the Americans in 2003.

An economist expected that the sanctions on the Central Bank of Iraq’s work would be directly reflected"

The economist, Abdul Rahman Al-Mashhadani, expected that the sanctions on the Central Bank of Iraq work will be directly reflected, and that the Iraqi dinar exchange rate will jump in dollars to large levels, confirming to the" New Arab "that Iraqi oil is sold in dollars, and that all oil revenues sold by Iraq are recorded in The US Federal Reserve.
He indicated that Iraq gets the dollar from selling oil, and in the event that sanctions are imposed, the dollar will shrink in the Iraqi market and its price rises significantly, reminding of the failure of all countries that tried to sell their oil in a currency other than the dollar, including Iraq at the time of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, and Libya In the era of Muammar Gaddafi, and finally Iran.
He pointed out that Iraq exports to America more than about 450 thousand barrels per day, and when the sanctions are imposed, Baghdad will have to sell it to other countries at low prices that may be less than $ 40 a barrel, adding: “Even if a country like China buys Iraq’s oil, it will give us Commodities in his stead, or a currency that does not carry much value. ”

And al-Mashhadani pointed out that there is another problem that may result from the sanctions, represented by Iraq’s dealings with the US-controlled International Monetary Fund, explaining that the fund provided Iraq with guarantees of loans worth $ 20 billion that may be canceled at any time after the sanctions.
He stressed that the sanctions would deprive Iraq of $ 3 billion, which America provides annually to arm, train and equip Iraqi forces, and that cutting them will affect the army's equipment and ammunition, indicating that Washington also controls the decision of important organizations that contribute to the reconstruction in Iraq, such as the USAID organization affiliated with the US State Department , And the United Nations Development Program.
He concluded by saying that "America has a great influence on the members of the Security Council and the European Union, which suggests the hypothesis of the commitment of these countries to any sanctions imposed by America."

“A member of the Iraqi parliament, on behalf of the“ Al-Fateh ”coalition, played down the importance of Trump's waving sanctions against Iraq"

On the other hand, played a member of parliament Iraqi Alliance" Conquest "Mohammad Karim, of the importance of the sanctions waved by Trump toward Iraq, stressing for" new Arab "that Iraq has already paid the price of the siege and wars caused by America, and to pay a large tax so, wondering "What is new that Trump will do other than spending billions to conspire against Iraq?"
He pointed out that there is a conviction among those demanding the removal of American forces, that the survival of American soldiers in Iraq will cause fighting, indicating that if the spark of war between America and Iran erupts, it will not remain. He added: "There may be effective economic sanctions, but we look at the slightest of two harms, because economic harm is easier than war," noting that Iraq can go to other countries, such as China, in order to get out of the impact of the US sanctions.
He stressed the need to take practical measures to avoid the repetition of the bombing operations that caused the killing of elements and leaders of the "popular crowd", explaining that many countries of the world began today to come out of the American cloak.
And Professor of International Law at Baghdad University, Ahmed Al-Khaldi, warned of the possibility of Iraq returning to Chapter Seven, which restricts its external movements and imposes an international trusteeship on it, assuring Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that Iraq is suffering from the absence of the legitimate executive authority, in light of a regional and international struggle over its lands. And it may open the door for the international community to save the Iraqi people from a possible war between America and Iran.
It is noteworthy that Iraq underwent, after its invasion of Kuwait in 1990, to Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, which allowed the use of force against Iraq as a threat to international security, in addition to freezing large amounts of its financial assets in international banks to pay compensation to those affected by the invasion. Iraq emerged from Chapter Seven in December 2017.

Whoever kills Soleimani can kill all heads

%D8%B3%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%

In less than 24 hours, Iran's platforms have retreated from the threat of an overwhelming earthquake in retaliation for the killing of General Qassem Soleimani, and are whispering a "thoughtful" response that may be agreed upon with the declared sponsorship of the Swiss mediator.
While the militias of Iran in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen threaten and will threaten a promised response, US President Donald Trump urgently announces Washington's plans for an overwhelming response inside Iran itself (52 monitored targets). Therefore, Washington is gracefully restoring the initiative, while Tehran appears flustered and confused, seeking the help of its linguistic arsenal, and it may compensate for its prestige in the past hours.

The United States surpassed the world in its vast economic power, and a superpower like China and an international gathering like the European Union worry when they brandish their economic sanctions. China has gone to a trade agreement with the American economic giant, while NATO countries are bowing to Trump's demands to raise their contributions to the budget of the Western military alliance, and European countries are seeking to find a ground to raise Trump products to stun Trump tariffs.

Iran could not face the US sanctions imposed on it. The stubbornness collapsed, and all the platforms of the regime in Tehran began to recognize that harsh sanctions were stifling the country. Tehran seemed to be losing out on this square and seemed to be looking to retaliate and defend in other arenas.

Soleimani moved freely, mapping the conflict in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon without objection from Washington

Iran has sought to beg for some military confrontation with the United States. I thought that the downing of an American drones of the latest model in the world and the most expensive one with a cheap missile over the waters of the Gulf (last June) would entail an American response that would allow Iran to enjoy the blessing of the military crisis with the larger country.

The goal was to transform the debate from a controversy over its nuclear program, ballistic missile program and its "destabilizing influence in the region", according to the American Western expression, to an international engagement in how to end the bilateral military confrontation in a way that raises Iran to the level of parity with the United States, and thus go to a table Negotiators as fighters are looking for a cease-fire.

Iran has tried to accomplish this in recent months through multiple attacks by Iraqi militias loyal to Tehran against American bases in Iraq without Tehran receiving the promised US-Iranian confrontation. Its arms in Syria and Lebanon seemed to be shackled by a general international resolution (with which Russia participates) allowing Israel to deal firmly and decisively with any Iranian dangers that appear there.

It may be said that Tehran was taking a correct approach, leaning on it, on the rules of a game that it has become accustomed to during the past decades.

Since the hostage diplomats ’crisis at the American embassy in Tehran, through the kidnapping of hostages and the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, ending with the expansion of Iranian influence in the fields of the region, Iran has been observing an American behavior ranging from withdrawal and retreat to constructive silence. Even the United States, which has long been described as the "Great Satan" in the literature of the Iranian "revolution", sought during the era of former President Barack Obama to conclude a deal of a nuclear agreement with Iran, which in its secrets constitutes recognition of the fate of the Wali Al-Faqih, and is preparing for an American-Iranian partnership that he alluded to. Obama himself.

Qasim Soleimani’s fault was not that he was confident in the American principles he had been brought up in since the Islamic Republic was established in 1979. The man was moving freely to draw maps of the conflict in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon without any objection from Washington. The matter of American silence was like the complete care of Iranian expansion in all regions.

It has long been said that the American-Iranian collusion has become larger and more solid since neo-conservative theorists have ruled that the Sunnis, with their multiple titles, have become, after the September 11 attacks, productive enemies of the United States, while the Shiites, with their sole title in Iran, are allies. The Iraq and Afghanistan regimes fell in full cooperation with Iran, and Tehran dominated Baghdad in complete collusion with Washington.

It seemed that the United States had ended "contracting" with Iran. Times have changed and are overlooked by Soleimani's presence and missions. The whole world wanted to bypass Iran's "exception", and thus bypass the incident of Soleimani and his militia. It is enough to reflect on the positions of China and Russia, which are supposed to be allies of Iran, as well as the position of Europe, which is supposed to be cooperating with Iran, to understand that the killing of Soleimani is an international decision implemented by American marches.

Yes, Iran's response will be earthquake. But that response will be earthquake for the whole Iranian situation that has spread in the region. Iran will go to the negotiating table, which Trump will not extend after the assassination of Soleimani. After lifting American international sponsorship to extend it, Iran has no choice but to rush to conclude an agreement with the Trump administration, in particular, to maintain a regime that appeared to eliminate Soleimani as symptoms of a threat to his survival.

Iran was counting on the time factor for candidate Donald Trump to fail in the upcoming presidential elections in favor of a Democratic contender reviving Obama's legacy and his "tenderness" toward Iran. Iran has been threatening Trump, the candidate, with a military option that his constituents have always promised to avoid. However, on the night of Soleimani's assassination, it appeared that Washington was luring Tehran to war, and it seemed that Trump, the candidate, had now considered his battle with Iran as his winning horse in his election campaign.

Something that happened in Washington that Soleimani did not know surprised the regime, with its guards, conservatives and moderates in Tehran. It is an Iranian collapse par excellence. The era of the Iranian revolution. Whoever kills Soleimani has the right to kill all the heads that were operating under him in all of the region. Whoever kills the most generals close to the jurist, informs Tehran that Washington has claimed that there are no plans to topple the regime that may become obsolete, and that the prestige of the United States in its long-term struggle with major strategic dangers, especially those represented by China, for example, calls for the removal of the pawn from a patch Great gameplay.

Panic in Iraq Markets: Jogging to Store Goods and the Dollar

%D8%B0%D8%B9%D8%B1.jpg

Iraq has witnessed significant turbulence in the exchange and commercial traffic markets, during the past two days, with the decline in the activity of several sectors, the most important of which are construction, cars, and real estate.

This came after threats by US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on Baghdad, in response to the Iraqi House of Representatives vote to end the presence of foreign forces from the country.

According to traders of “Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed”, the commodity markets witnessed confusion in light of the recent developments and consumer demand to purchase and store the goods for fear of developments.

Merchants said that there are contracted goods shipped on the way to ports and border crossings, which will incur a heavy loss if the exchange rate does not stabilize within reasonable limits.

A high-tech electronics dealer, Al-Jizani, told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that millions of dollars will be lost by merchants. Some may lose their profits in ten years. Disasters will happen if the official agencies do not improve their behavior in this important and sensitive stage.

Hussein al-Asadi, a member of the Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that Trump's statements and the current tension between Washington and Tehran and the armed factions in Iraq have raised the concerns of merchants and citizens alike.

He explained that the reason for the devaluation of the dinar is due to the appetite of citizens and merchants to buy large amounts of dollars for fear of war or economic sanctions imposed on Iraq after Trump's threats.

He added, "It is natural for a paralysis to occur as a result of postponing all major commercial and economic activities. Even at the individual level, the decision to buy a house, car, or even furnishing a home will be postponed."

He considered that the market has returned again at the mercy of political statements and ambiguity in the absence of a clear monetary policy for the state, escalation of citizens' fears and infiltration of rumors to the market from time to time.

Specialists expect that the dinar will decline further during the coming period, if the Central Bank of Iraq does not remedy large quantities of hard currency through its auction scheduled for Tuesday morning.

One of the employees of the Iraqi Stock Exchange, Muhammad Yunus, told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that large losses were incurred by workers in the banking sector as a result of the market instability that witnessed stability for years. the currency.

Yunus added that Monday's holiday, due to the Army's feast, prevented the dinar from falling further, and is expected to witness a decline today, Tuesday, at the start of working hours and the opening of the central bank and the currency market.

Yunus stressed that Trump's threats are the most important reasons that will push the Iraqi dinar further down against the dollar.

He said that the Iraqi currency fell against the dollar from 1212 to 1225 dinars, pointing out that the expectations indicate that the local currency has tumbled to reach 5000 dinars on the black market if the escalation continues for a long time.

And the day before yesterday, the Iraqi Council of Representatives voted to oblige the government to end the foreign presence in Iraq, and to end the help of the international coalition in combating ISIS and confining arms to the state.

In a speech to him, the resigned Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, presented two options to Parliament regarding the foreign presence in Iraq. He said that the first option relates to ending the presence of foreign forces, and setting a timetable for that. As for the second, returning to a draft decision belonging to the previous government, it stipulates that the conditions for the presence of any foreign forces are related to training Iraqi forces only, and it is not permissible to have foreign forces responsible for carrying out hostilities in The country.

Trump has threatened to impose major sanctions on Baghdad, after the Iraqi parliament demanded that US forces leave the country, calling on Iraq to pay the cost of an air base there if his country's forces exit.

For his part, the director of the exchange office, Abbas Abdul Razzaq, said, "Fear and anticipation distinguish the Iraqi market, merchants and citizens as well."

Abdel-Razzaq added to Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that everyone stores the dollar, and many banking firms have stopped discharging it, as a result of losses it incurred during the past two days.

So far, the Central Bank of Iraq has not released any new details about the devaluation of the Iraqi dinar except for a brief statement that came through the official Iraqi News Agency, in which he said, "They are continuing to pump the dollar into the market and warn of rumors."

However, the Iraqi financial expert, Sinan Alwan, told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that the market and the street as a whole have no confidence in the state’s procedures or the central bank’s policy, so the dinar’s price or market movement and its return to normal activity will depend on real positive measures or news that promises a decline in the severity of the escalation The opposite is also true. ”

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Baghdad quoted traders in foreign currency markets that there is a noticeable rise in the price of the US dollar against the dinar (Iraqi currency) in local markets.
He stated that the price of the dollar rose from 1,200 Iraqi dinars two days ago to 1230 dinars today, which is a significant increase during a short period of time.

This rise coincided with the heightened tension between Washington and Tehran in the wake of the killing of the Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani with an American strike in Iraq last Friday.

Two days ago, Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Al-Halbousi warned - at the parliament session in which a decision was issued authorizing the resigned prime minister to take measures to end the foreign presence - that the government might face a problem in fulfilling its financial obligations if Washington proceeded to impose sanctions on his country.

Also in Iraq, the American oil company Chevron evacuated its foreign employees from northern Iraq in a precautionary measure, joining other major oil companies that withdrew their employees following the assassination of the Iranian general.

A spokeswoman for the company said that operations are continuing with local employees, and that foreign workers are working remotely

The American company has limited activity in Iraq, as it is expected to start producing two hundred thousand barrels of oil per day by the middle of this year.

Safe havens
Meanwhile, safe havens in the exchange markets continued to maintain their gains, with a tendency for the decline, and markets remained concerned about the escalation of tensions in the Gulf region.

And the Swiss currency maintained its gains against the American today. Against the dollar, the franc recorded 0.9693, after jumping 0.5% yesterday, to head for the highest level in more than a year.

The Japanese currency, which is also a safe haven currency, fell from the highest level in three months against the dollar, to settle at 108.48 yen to the dollar.

In front of a basket of six major currencies, the dollar index stabilized after falling 0.2% yesterday, and the sterling recorded 1.3174 dollars after jumping 0.7% yesterday.

The euro (the European single currency) reached about $ 1.12 after rising 0.4% in the previous session, and the yen fell slightly from its highest level in three months against the dollar.

Markets await Iran's response to the assassination of Soleimani and the safe haven currencies are holding together

The Swiss franc maintained its gains against the US dollar on Tuesday, as dealers took refuge in safe haven currencies amid growing concern about a possible Iranian response to the killing of the United States commander of the "Quds Force" Qassem Soleimani, at dawn last Friday.
The yen, which is also a safe haven currency, has fallen from a three-month high against the dollar, but sentiment remains fragile due to heightened fears of an armed conflict between the United States and Iran.

In light of the state of anxiety, the US currency lost against the British pound and the euro, as the prospect of a new conflict prompted some investors to re-evaluate their appetite for risk at the beginning of the year.
Against the dollar, the Swiss Franc hit 0.9693, after jumping 0.5% on Monday, to head for the highest level in more than a year.

The Japanese currency held steady at 108.48 yen to the dollar, down from the three-month high of 107.77 yen touched on Monday.
In front of a basket of six major currencies, the dollar index stabilized at 96.667, after falling 0.2% on Monday.

The sterling recorded 1.3174 dollars, after jumping 0.7%, on Monday. The euro reached $ 1.1192, after rising 0.4% in the previous session.
The exchange rate of the yuan in internal transactions rose to its highest level in five months at 9.9522 per dollar, in a new indication that traders are ready to set aside concerns regarding the recent escalation between the United States and Iran.

Oil slipped

Oil prices fell today, Tuesday, as investors reconsider the possibility of disruptions in Middle East supplies following the killing of Soleimani.
Brent fell 1.5% to $ 67.86 a barrel and recorded $ 68.14, down 77 cents, at 05.50 GMT.

And US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 65 cents to $ 62.62 a barrel, after earlier it fell 1.5% to $ 62.30.
Prices had risen in the previous two sessions, with Brent reaching its highest level since September while West Texas increased to its highest since April.

The gains came after fears of an escalation of the conflict and the possibility of disruption to the region's supply after the killing of Soleimani, but some analysts have begun to question the chances of a large-scale conflict.
"The market is clearly concerned that supply may be disrupted, but there is no clear path forward from here," said Lakhlan Shaw, director of commodities research at the National Bank of Australia.

"The whole thing is purely a possible scenario that may affect oil production or not, so it seems that the market has re-evaluated in the last 24 to 36 hours regarding some of the possibilities," he added.
He pointed out that Iran will need hard currency revenues from the continuation of oil exports, and therefore it will not be in its interest to try to close the Strait of Hormuz, and about 20% of the world's oil pass through the strait that Iran overlooks.

Eurasia Group suggested that Iran focus on US military objectives, not energy targets.
"This does not mean that it will not continue the low-level harassment of commercial shipping or regional energy infrastructure, but these activities will not be severe," she added.

German Defense: Iran is responsible for most of the escalation in the Middle East

AOAiyQM2MX4SwiwRfwtIBSuYPOgJdBywE71O5m1x

7th January, 2020

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Line said on Tuesday that Iran is responsible for most of the escalation of tensions that we have seen in the Middle East.

The German Defense Minister added, "Germany agrees that the NATO mission must continue to counter ISIS." The Iranian Fars Agency indicated that the leaders in Iran are discussing the expected response scenarios, pointing out that Iran will make Soleimani's martyrdom a nightmare for Washington.

Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, was martyred in an American strike with a plane that flew at his convoy at Baghdad Airport, on Friday, and with him the deputy head of the Popular Mobilization Committee, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, along with 4 Iranian officers and leaders in the crowd.

Reuters reported that the Ayn al-Assad air base in western Iraq, where American forces are present, was subjected to missile attacks, according to an American official.

The official said there was no immediate information on any damage or losses in the missile attacks.

A US official confirmed to ABC News that "ballistic missiles were fired from inside Iran at several American military installations inside Iraq on Wednesday morning local time. The official said that the facilities include Erbil in northern Iraq and the Assad air base in western Iraq."

The Iranian Fars News Agency said in a tweet that Iranian ballistic missiles were fired at Ain al-Assad air base, where American forces are stationed.

Tehran has announced the launch of 10 missiles at the Iraqi base of al-Assad, according to Iranian television.

For its part, Agence France-Presse reported that at least nine missiles fell on Tuesday night, Wednesday, on Ein Al-Assad Air Force Base, quoting an Iraqi security source.

This missile attack comes after US intelligence information revealed Iranian military movements, amid escalating tension with the United States following a knockout targeting the Iranian Quds Force Commander, Qassem Soleimani, and the leader of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Militia, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

The United States placed its forces and missile defenses in the Middle East on high alert on Monday night, according to CNN, quoting US officials.

This alert reflects the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran in the wake of the American strike, which killed Soleimani, the engineer, and other Iranian and Iraqi elements, last week near Baghdad airport in Iraq.

Intelligence reported that Iranian movements were monitored during which military equipment, including drones and ballistic missiles, were being transported during the past few days.

A US official told CNN on Tuesday, "There were indications that we need to monitor the threats," more closely than is already happening.

A second official said, "All Patriot batteries and forces in the area are on high alert" against "an imminent threat."

American officials confirmed that the strike against Soleimani was carried out to prevent an "imminent" attack in the region that would have endangered the lives of Americans.

National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien said on Tuesday that the United States has intelligence that Soleimani was "planning to kill and attack American facilities, diplomats and soldiers."
