The only way to fight fire is with fire, unfortunately this means more people will have to die before this is over. Most likely it will be suicide bombings and killing of innocents, but talking to these kind of people doesn't work. You have to become a beast to kill the monster, as history always repeats itself. Someday hopefully we can rid the evil that's upon us, for our children at least we can hope.

How did America reach the decision to kill Iran's strongman in the region?

%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A7-300x200.jpg

The American administration did not reach a final decision to kill the powerful Iranian man, Qasim Soleimani, in the missile attack launched by a drone on his motorcade near Baghdad International Airport, only after its impatience with the continuation of the Iranian intransigence and the dangerous escalation that seemed to be endless. And its allied Iraqi militia mobilized it through its first regional operations engineer, Soleimani, in the attack on the largest US embassy around the world - the blade that cut the American patience rope, as well as recent intelligence reports that confirmed that the Quds Force commander was actively involved in developing Plans to attack US diplomats and soldiers in Iraq and the region.

The decisive factor

According to the Pentagon, Gen. Soleimani and the Quds Force are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans in Iraq and other countries in the Middle East, and the wounding of thousands of others, according to the statement issued in Washington, but the administration of President Donald Trump has confirmed that Soleimani was the one who gave The green light to target the US embassy in Iraq with the first days of the new year, a decisive factor, according to US officials, in making the final decision to liquidate Soleimani and give a harsh lesson to Iran that the United States will not tolerate any attack that could undermine its dignity and prestige or to repeat the scenario of the hostage crisis in Tehran in 19 79 or the accident of the killing of the American ambassador in Benghazi in 2012.

Even before the decision to get rid of Soleimani was taken, American air strikes against the Iranian-backed Iraqi "Hezbollah" brigades were not only driven by the attack in Iraqi Kirkuk, which led to the killing of the another site and the injury of other Americans, but rather the repeated and increased frequency of missile and artillery attacks from Iraqi militias that are armed and armed by Iran against American facilities in Iraq, which was revealed hours before the execution of the killing of Soleimani, US Defense Secretary Mark Esber, who clearly said that the rules of the game have changed, and we are ready to defend our forces, interests and partners in the region.

Observers in Washington say that the scene transmitted by American television networks from the siege of the American embassy in Baghdad, the ignition of Iranian-backed demonstrators in Molotov cocktails in its walls and sides and storming one of the reception rooms at its entrances and setting up tents around the embassy building, is the most burning point in the American-Iranian relations inside Iraq.

Test for Iran

The use of violence around the US embassy represented a new test of Trump's policy towards Iran months after he retreated from a military strike against Tehran after the Revolutionary Guards shot down an American drone, which Iran may have mistakenly interpreted as a weakness of a president who pledged to his constituents that he would not enter External military confrontations, and he is not prepared to renege on his pledge.

But the US President wanted this time to prove the Iranian calculations wrong, and he is not the man who puts his head in the sand, and ignores Iran's attempts to provoke him at a time exposed to the Democrats' attempts to isolate him from the presidential seat.

New America in Iraq

Because the attack on the American embassy also sparked another unprecedented tension with the Iraqi government, which has been seeking to maintain stable relations with the United States as the leader of the Western world, but with the dedication of its relationship with Iran, its influential neighbor, its policy, the United States decided to introduce new changes to its policy Inside Iraq, Minister Esber suggested during a meeting with Fox News television a possible change in the US strategy inside Iraq, indicating that “ISIS” had been defeated and only remnants of it were left, and that the US administration was targeting to deter Iran's bad behavior that lasted 40 Either.

But Esber refused to comment on a question about whether Iran needs a "American punch in the nose" that goes beyond the economic sanctions imposed on it and the words of strict threat and promises, saying that it is time for Iran to start acting as a normal country.

Despite warnings of a violent Iranian response, and the lack of clarity on the Iraqi government's stance on killing Soleimani or the extent of its ability to resist Iranian pressure that may push Baghdad to request the withdrawal of US forces from the country, the United States hopes that the explicit American threats that its response will be harsh Deterring decision makers in Tehran, and a message that American policy toward Iran is not the same as it was in the past, and that the American indulgence with the Iranian role of instability and unrest in all parts of the Middle East has reached its limit.

WHY DID THE US KILL QASSEM SOLEIMANI?

SULAIMANI — In the aftermath of the assassination of Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, many are wondering why the US decided to strike now, given that he had long been identified as a threat by US officials.

The primary reason appears to be in reaction to the attack by supporters of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on the US embassy in Baghdad on December 31. Many of the militias that make up the PMF have close ties with Tehran and are viewed by the US as Iranian proxies operating in Iraq.

It is thought that the assassination strike, which also killed PMF commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, was part of an escalation designed to limit the power of these proxies both in Iraqi political life, as well as throughout the broader Middle East.

Related to the latter, some have warned about the creation of a so-called “land bridge” stretching from Iran through Iraq and Syria and into Lebanon, along which Iran and its proxies can move fighters and material to attack US forces and US allies like Israel. Soleimani was widely regarded as responsible for Iranian military activities in Syria and Iraq.

Another long-term concern is the threat that Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which has close ties with Iran, poses to Israel. The risk of conflict between the two was highlighted in late August when the militant group and Israeli forces exchanged fire along the Lebanese border. Taking out Soleimani may have severed an influential link between Hezbollah and Iran.

Finally, some on social media have speculated that the decapitation strike was an attempt to curry favor with US voters ahead of what promises to be a bruising re-election campaign, though there has been little public evidence so far to support that theory.

Baghdad / Al-Ikhbaria:

A statement issued by Abdul-Mahdi's office, received by Al-Akhbaria, said, "The council discussed developments in the security situation and issues in the country after the attack, which led to the martyrdom of a number of leading figures."

The Council affirmed "its support for the position of the Commander in Chief of the armed forces, denouncing and condemning the violation of Iraqi sovereignty, and rejecting the aggression and its departures from the role and conditions of the presence of the American forces."
He added that "the parliament has contradicted the call it made to the parliament to hold an extraordinary session in order to organize and unify the Iraqi official position and take the necessary measures and decisions to preserve the dignity, security and sovereignty of Iraq."

Leader of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia in Iraq, Qais Khazali (archive)

On Friday, the US State Department announced the inclusion of the Asaib al-Haq militia and two of its leaders on the list of foreign terrorist organizations, and described it as one of Iran's agents in the region.

The Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia is one of the Iranian-backed militias, and it operates mainly in Iraq and Syria, and the movement has been involved in sectarian violence and war crimes in both countries.

Al-Asaib is one of the three largest Iraqi militias supported by the Revolutionary Guards' terrorist corps, while Asaib shows openly its loyalty to the Iranian regime.

This comes as US Special Envoy to Iran, Brian Hook, told Al-Arabiya that the commander of the Qods Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, was "planning an imminent attack."

"American President Donald Trump removed Soleimani from the battle, and this is a major achievement," Hook added.

He pointed out that "Soleimani was on the United Nations' travel ban list."

On the role of Soleimani in Yemen, Hook said that the Iranian general "caused great suffering in Yemen" and "the Houthis were provided with weapons to attack Saudi Arabia."

The US envoy hinted at the role Soleimani played in launching attacks "in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon."

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed Friday that the US strike against Soleimani was "legal," describing the danger of not moving against Iran as "tremendous", adding that "by killing Soleimani we foiled an imminent Iranian attack."

He stated that the decision to kill Soleimani "was endorsed by President Trump, and he is ready for all Iranian threats."

In an interview with the American "CNN", Pompeo said: "We do not seek war with Iran, but we will not stand idly by and see Americans at risk."

Americans told to leave Iraq, amid escalating tensions

WASHINGTON DC (Kurdistan 24) – The US embassy in Baghdad called on all American citizens presently in the country to leave immediately, following Thursday night’s drone strike that killed Qasim Soleimani, head of Iran’s paramilitary Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi militias known as the Popular Mobilization Forces.

READ MORE: US strike kills Qasim Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis

“Due to heightened tensions in Iraq and the region, we urge US citizens to depart Iraq immediately,” the embassy tweeted on Friday morning.

US authorities have intelligence that Iran was planning to kidnap Americans in Iraq, Josh Rogin, a columnist for The Washington Post, tweeted, suggesting that would explain the embassy’s urgent warning.

Kurdistan Region as Safe Haven

Iraq’s Oil Ministry issued a statement later on Friday, noting that US employees of foreign oil companies in Basra were leaving the country, as Reuters reported.

Numerous foreign oil companies operate in Iraq. Two oil companies that work in the Kurdistan Region, Genel and Gulf Keystone Petroleum, told Reuters that they were operating as normal, although they were also watchful.

British Petroleum, Eni, an Italian company, America’s Exxon Mobil, and Canada’s Packer Plus, all operate in southern Iraq. They either declined to comment to Reuters or affirmed that their operations were proceeding as normal.

A line of foreign workers leaving Iraq were seen at the Basra airport, checking in at the FlyDubai and Qatar airways counters, presumably bound, as a first stop at least, for Qatar and Dubai.

On Thursday, the US embassy in Baghdad began to recover following the assault against the facility. One of its first actions was to issue a statement that consular services had been suspended. However, the US consulate in Erbil remained open and continued to offer such services.

READ MORE: US embassy in Baghdad suspends services after Iran-backed militia attack

As Nicholas Heras, Middle East Security Fellow at the Center for a New American Security, recently wrote, the Kurdistan Region “represents a notable exception” to the anti-Americanism that is found elsewhere in Iraq.

READ MORE: No Better Friends: The US-Kurdistan Region Security Partnership

It is unclear what effect, if any, the departure of US, and, perhaps, other foreign oil workers, will have. The popular protests in Iraq, going back to October, had led to a slight decrease in Iraqi oil production in December. The overwhelming bulk of Iraqi crude is exported from Basra.

Iraq is the world’s fourth largest oil producing country—behind the US, Saudi Arabia and Russia. Yet Iraq’s population suffers from widespread government corruption and mismanagement, resulting in poor services and high unemployment.
