Allawi proposes a road map for choosing a candidate for prime minister

Baghdad / Obelisk: The leader of the National List, Iyad Allawi, revealed today, Monday, a written message to the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, indicating that he informed him of the need to consult three parties regarding the issue of choosing the next prime minister.

Allawi said, in a tweet on Twitter, "I informed the President of the Republic, in a written message, that the candidate for prime minister is born after consulting three parties, which are peaceful demonstrators, unions, professional unions, and some moderate political forces in the House of Representatives."

"On this basis, Wataniya did not nominate anyone to head the government," he added.

A political source stated that the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, indicated to the political forces his willingness to resign before appointing a candidate who would not be accepted by the Iraqi people.

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, had sent a message earlier to the House of Representatives regarding the identification of the largest bloc, while the book showed Salih’s assertion that the Construction Alliance submitted Qusay al-Suhail as a candidate for prime minister.

The end of the constitutional deadline for the announcement of the Prime Minister ... and crucial hours
{Baghdad: Al Furat News} Iraq entered the stage of the constitutional vacuum yesterday, with the expiry of the deadline to nominate a prime minister to succeed resigned President Adel Abdul Mahdi.
The central and southern provinces of the country witnessed a state of boiling rejection of the construction bloc, Minister of Higher Education Qusay al-Suhail, for the position.
The Federal Supreme Court had responded yesterday to a request from the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, to express its opinion on the "largest bloc" that had the right to name the candidate without specifying the bloc, and Saleh transmitted the Federal Court's reply to the presidency of the parliament, calling for specifying the largest bloc in order to choose a president The ministers succeeded the resigned Adel Abdul-Mahdi. ”
The leaders of the Building Alliance submitted a request to the President of the Republic, to assign the easy Alliance candidate to the Prime Minister, and the request was signed by: Nouri al-Maliki / State of Law Coalition, Hadi Farhan Abdullah Al-Amiri / Al-Fateh Alliance and Faleh Faisal Al-Fayyad / Alliance The National Contract, and Muhammad Al-Halbous / Coalition of Iraqi forces. "

It is likely that Parliament Speaker Muhammad Al-Halbousi, today, during the parliament session scheduled for the evening to complete the vote on the election law, will announce the parliament’s position on the President’s request.
With the deadline for naming the new prime minister over, Baghdad and the central and southern governorates witnessed a boil and hundreds of thousands came out.
The demonstrators of Tahrir Square, central Baghdad, renewed their demands, and their adherence to the rejection of any party candidate to head the government, and stressed in a statement on Sunday night that the people are the largest bloc.
"The authority of the parties continues to insist on its corruption and disregard for the blood of those who have fallen since the protests began by trying to pass its candidate Qusay al-Suhail rejected by the Iraqi people," the statement said.

Good. As it states, "The people are the largest block!" So find someone for the people, not the Iranians or corrupt Iraqi politicians. And do it pronto  cause they're spilling out into the streets again....

Baghdad-Sharqiyah December 23: President of the Republic Barham Salih sent a new letter to the Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives requesting that the largest bloc be identified after the interpretation of the Federal Supreme Court interpretation. In his speech to the Presidency of the Parliament, Saleh said that the Presidency of the Republic faces three main addresses in a letter to Parliament on the sixteenth of this month and the twelfth of last October, which showed that the largest bloc is the one that mandated the resigned Prime Minister, Adel Abdel Mahdi. In his book, Saleh pointed out that the Construction Alliance submitted a request to the Presidency of the Republic on the 18th of this month, in which he indicated that he is the largest number bloc and presented his candidate to the Prime Minister Qusay Abdul Wahab Al-Suhail. As for the third address, the President of the Republic confirmed that it was from the Alliance of Marchers on the third of this month, in which he was declared the largest bloc based on the 2018 elections and he is the bloc concerned with providing the candidate to form the government. A number of the 174 members of the House of Representatives submitted a request to the Presidency of the Republic referred from the office of the First Vice-President of the House of Representatives Hassan Al-Kaabi, in which they specified the conditions that must be met in the candidate for the prime minister, namely that he be independent of the person who did not assume the position of minister or deputy and without double Nationality. At the end of his book to the House of Representatives, Saleh said that the difficult circumstance the country is going through necessitates accuracy in dealing with constitutional entitlements, in a manner that guarantees the preservation of the unity of Iraq and the safety of its children.

Good Morning yota, this president Saleh is gutless an weaker than my mother in-laws coffee. I think he is so scared of making the Iranians mad he can't sleep at night. It also appears he's dancing around trying to put the monkey on these other folks about to take the responsibility off him, what a loser.

Thanks for all all you do here at DV an have a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...

We don't know all the politics that is going on there. The president stands with the people and refused to put several Iranian back candidates as Prime minister. Barham Salih shows that he is a very strong president by not bowing to the dictates of Maliky and the like. Why he does not appoint one of the protesters candidates? It seems to me that he has to have  consensus of the political blocks in parliament before he can put one forward. They don't want the candidates the people chose and the people don't want theirs either. It may be a long time before we see a Prime Minister that both camps can accept.

Would that delay the revaluation of their currency? Only God and the CBI know this answer. Since it is one of the protesters's demands they should go ahead and implement it, I would say!

An Iraqi official said on Sunday that President Barham Salih threatened to resign if the pressure continued to appoint a candidate whom the Iraqis would not agree to, Al-Arabiya reported.

Binna’a Coalition, the largest parliamentary bloc on Sunday sent a letter to Salih nominating Qusay al-Suhail, a minister who is widely rejected by protesters.

Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi said a Federal Court’s statement has authorized the president to choose the next prime minister without referring to the largest bloc, according to media reports.

Iraqi Politicians Miss Deadline for New Prime Minister

https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/en/Story/45183/Iraqi-Politicians-Miss-Deadline-for-New-Prime-Minister

Thousands of Iraqis protested Monday in Baghdad and other parts of the country after politicians missed an overnight deadline for naming a new prime minister.

Anti-government rallies have rocked the capital and the Shiite-majority south since October with people protesting against corruption, poor services and a lack of jobs.

President Barham Salih and parliament have missed several deadlines to appoint a new prime minister following Adel Abdul Mahdi's resignation last month. Mahdi and his government agreed to stay on in a caretaker role until a new prime minister is approved.

Mahdi's resignation failed to satisfy anti-government protesters who have said it is not enough for a new prime minister to take over.  They are demanding changes to the entire political system imposed after the U.S. invasion in 2003, which they say is corrupt, inept and does little to help impoverished Iraqis despite the nation’s oil wealth.

Protesters on Sunday decried a potential pick for the new prime minister, former higher education minister Qusay al-Suhail, who is opposed by critics for his ties to Iran. Demonstrators categorically reject his candidacy along with any other potential contenders who have been part of the government since 2003.

At least 460 people have died and tens of thousands of others have been wounded since the demonstrations erupted in October in Baghdad and in Shiite-majority areas in southern Iraq.

Al-Bina Alliance Presents New Candidate for Iraq's Premiership\

ERBIL - The Iraqi alliance of al-Bina presented the name of a new candidate for the country's premiership, as the protesters have strongly rejected the previous nominees.

According to Iraqi reports, al-Bina Alliance has presented the name of Asad Idani, the governor of Basra, as its candidate for the premiership.

The nomination came after the Iraqi protesters repeatedly rejected other candidates, including Qais Suhail.

The Iraqi protesters have made it clear that they would not support any candidate for the country's premiership if they are nominated by the political parties.

Sorry but I just don’t see it happening anytime soon

All this hype about protesters doesn't mean it going to pressure for an RV

Better living conditions and less corruption, maybe a few more things, but this doesn’t scream RV to me. Those in power are making way too much in auctions and other ways to let go of their cash cows
