In a related context, Sky News confirmed that 3 missiles had landed inside the heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, where the US embassy is located, according to a security source, in the third attack of its kind since the killing of the Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in a US air strike last week, where Witnesses heard the sound of the explosions in the center of the capital, followed by the sound of sirens in the Green Zone, 24 hours after a missile attack launched by Iran on a military base that includes American soldiers in western Iraq.

He pointed out that his country does not want to see a further escalation of tensions in the region in a very dangerous moment, after the killing of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, in an American strike on a drone last Friday. Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that the kingdom is keen to avoid Any escalation of the situation in the region, and attention should be paid to the risks to global security, not just the security of the region.
As the Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir said, Saudi Arabia is looking at the situation in Iraq with interest and diligence, and is working to keep this fraternal country away from the slides of fighting and war.

Al-Jubeir added in a tweet on Twitter: "The kingdom will stand with Iraq to bypass everything that threatens its security, stability and belonging to its Arab identity."

Today, Thursday, Secretary General of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Qais Khazali, suggested that targeting the American embassy in Baghdad with two missiles yesterday was the work of the American intelligence.

Khazali denied the intention of the "Iraqi resistance" to target any diplomatic mission, while noting that the zero hour for revenge operations for Abu Mahdi Al-Muhannas has not yet been launched, again threatening to respond to an earthquake.

Representatives are calling for the disclosure of the authorities responsible for bombing military sites

Baghdad / Obelisk: Nada Shaker Jawdat, a deputy for the victory coalition, called on the Iraqi government to disclose the internal authorities who are conducting the bombing of military sites, for fear of entering the country into international problems.

While speaking to local media, she criticized the role of the Ministries of Interior and Defense in explaining the reality of the recent security incidents, noting that "the victims of these operations are from the Iraqi side and not other nationalities, describing the administration of the Iraqi government as very weak."

She added that "Parliament has done what it has to do by voting to bring out foreign forces and the government’s role remains to take its role, stressing the need for political powers to speed up their differences and form a government capable of restoring the country's prestige."

Iraq's Sadr Calls for One Million Person March against US Troops Presence

ERBIL - Iraqi powerful Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr has called for a million person march against the presence of the US and other foreign troops in the country.

"Iraq's sky, territory, and sovereignty are violated by the invading forces," Sadr, who is the leader of the second-largest parliamentary bloc, wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

He further urged the "soldiers of God and national soldiers to hold peaceful and united protests of a million against the US forces presence."

Sadr's call came one week after the Iraqi Council of Representatives passed a resolution to oust the US and other foreign troops from the country.

It also came in response to the killing of Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian commander, by the US in Baghdad.

Several Katyusha rockets have targeted the Iraqi Taji base near Baghdad, which includes American soldiers, according to the Iraqi Army's security media cell Tuesday.

The Pentagon media office confirmed that the shells landed more than two kilometers from the Taji base and that no one in the American forces was hurt.

Several Iraqi bases, including American forces, were attacked recently, amid tensions between Washington and Tehran.

An another site was killed by an Iraqi pro-Iranian militia attack on a base in Kirkuk.

The pro-Iranian militia attacked the American embassy, before Washington responded by killing the Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani near Baghdad.

With ballistic missiles, Iran attacked the Ain al-Assad base, which includes American soldiers, and there were no casualties.

New video shows two missiles fired at the Ukrainian plane

The New York Times has published a new video clip showing the Ukrainian plane hitting two missiles before crashing over the Iranian capital, Tehran, days after the Iranian authorities admitted the plane was shot down.

The missiles were launched from an Iranian military base eight miles from the plane, according to the newspaper.

The new video solves the mystery that the plane's signal transmitter stopped for seconds before being hit by a second missile.

The first missile hit the transmitter on the plane, stopping it for seconds, before the second missile blasted off and caused the plane to explode.

Days after the denial, the Iranian authorities admitted that the Ukrainian plane had been shot down that the accident had caused the accident.

176 people on board were killed, the majority of whom were Iranians and Canadians.

The authorities' announcement sparked shock in Iran and a wave of denunciations. And a ceremony honoring the victims at Tehran University turned Saturday into an anti-authorities demonstration, in which protesters chanted "Death to liars", before the police dispersed them.

On Sunday evening, Tehran also witnessed angry demonstrations, according to videos posted on social media and it is not possible to verify its authenticity until now.

Missile strike in Iraq hits base with 200 British personnel

PRC_120561539

A US army base in Iraq which was targeted in a missile strike last night is also where 200 British personnel are based.

No group has as of yet claimed responsibility for the Katyusha rocket attack on Camp Taji, north of Baghdad. Unlike the ballistic missiles which Iran fired at two US base in Iraq last week, the Soviet made Katyusha rockets have a shorter range and were described as a ‘smaller attack’, according to a coalition military spokesman. No casualties have been reported.

Colonel Myles Caggins III tweeted: ‘No Coalition troops were affected by this small attack at Taji Base.’ It comes after a similar attack on a US base on Sunday night, in which four members of the Iraqi military were wounded in the eight-missile strike on Balad air base, which is 50 miles north of Baghdad.

Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and tried to light it?

Did you know his trial is over?
Did you know he was sentenced?
Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?
      Didn't think so.!!!

Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.

Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.

Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted his 'allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah,' defiantly
stating, 'I think I will not apologize for my actions,' and told the court 'I am at war with your country.'

Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:

Judge Young: "Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.

On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively. (That's 80 years.)

On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years, again to be served consecutively to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000, that's an aggregate fine of $2 million.

The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.

The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon you, five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.

This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence.

Now, let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before.

There is too much war talk here and I say that to everyone with the utmost respect. Here in this court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals. As human beings, we reach out for justice.

You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature.

Whether the officers of government do it, or your attorney does it, or if you think you are a soldier, you are not-----, you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not meet with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.

So war talk is way out of line in this court. You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You're no warrior. I've known warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders. In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he said:

      'You're no big deal. '

      You are no big deal.

What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have, as honestly as I know how, tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today?

I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty, and admit you are guilty, of doing? And, I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.

It seems to me, you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom.

Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom. It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea.

It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom, so that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.

We Americans are all about freedom. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bear any burden; pay any price, to preserve our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it well.

The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure.

Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America , the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice, is in fact being done.

The very President of the United States through his officers, will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.

See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America . That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. And it always will.

Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down."

So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets? We need more judges like Judge Young.

      ====================================================================================

(CNN) – The following is a partial transcript of Thursday's court hearing in which Richard Reid was sentenced to life in prison for his confessed plan to try and blow up a jetliner with explosives he had hidden in his shoes. The exchange is between Reid and Judge William Young.
