Al-Haddad indicated in a statement today to the need for the candidate to obtain the consent and acceptance of the masses on the basis of the political agreement and what the higher national interest of the country requires, especially as we are going through a detailed stage and a political crisis.

Al-Haddad called on everyone to prevail over logic, language of reason and wisdom to spare the country more tragedies and problems. In the event that the President of the Republic makes an explicit written request for resignation, then the request will be dealt with according to Article (75) of the Iraqi constitution.

On Thursday, the President of the Republic announced his readiness to resign before the members of the House of Representatives, while apologizing for assigning the construction bloc (Asaad Al-Eidani) candidate to head the next government.

The Kurdistan National Union bloc called earlier today to the other blocs to understand the position of the President of the Republic, Barham Ahmed Saleh, due to the ongoing pressures he is exposed to, which led him to his willingness to submit his resignation from his position due to the issue of the largest bloc that results in the selection of a candidate to fill the post of Prime Minister succeeding To the resigned Adel Abdul Mahdi.

Qais Khazali, Secretary General of the “Asaib Ahl al-Haq” movement, criticized the position of President Barham Saleh regarding his refusal to assign the construction candidate to the post of prime minister for the next government, calling for his resignation or dismissal by political blocs.

Hmmm. Pretty short agenda, considering all that is going on in the country and the massive numbers of laws awaiting action. And still no budget. Or PM.

I do find it a little interesting that they have had an amendment to FML on the agenda lately. Below is a quote about it from an old post in March before it passed in May...

He added that "the Committee is keen to enact the law of financial administration as it gives a complete road map of the financial policy in the country in terms of management of money and cash in the state," pointing out that "the change will raise the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against foreign currencies while maintaining the stability of inflation In the country".
"The Commission is determined to make these changes during the next phase and not to follow the traditional methods are not appropriate at the moment."
