3n1,

Just FYI, my Shia friend is disgusted by Sadr.. He always says bad things about him. He said Sadr is an uneducated corrupt sell out. He flip flops to whatever side he thinks will win on issues and takes bribes as well to remain silent. I don’t know if Sadr and my friend are from different factions, obviously this may be why he hates Sadr or if the Shias in Najaf, Iraq (my friends home town) are now seeing Sadr for what he is.. not sure. I just know my friend is not a fan of Sadr at all.

Iran must have lost Sadr to the Protest and to Iraq. Evidence of corruption must have influenced Sadr as well . We all have read Sooo much news of Iraq and surrounding countries . If Those in Power of Iran lose Iraq ? They Lose everything . General Patreaus gave an interview once  .He spoke of all the countries Bush wanted to invade after Afghanistan but got bogged down by Iraq and had to leave office . Interesting thing is those same countries fell after he left office with the exception of Assad and Syria . Presidents may change but to me it appears the plan is the same .The rulers of Iran are deeply afraid of what is to take place after they lose ( and they will lose ) Iraq ..... Assad ? You will not be forgotten .....Onward

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraqi security sources said on Sunday that the death toll from the so-called “Bloody Friday” violence against protesters in the nation's capital two nights before rose to 22 dead, plus more than 140 wounded.

Three police officers were among those killed in stabbings and shootings, mostly in Khilani Square and on, or near, central Baghdad's Sinak Bridge, which connects the two halves of the city separated by the Tigris River.

The security authorities have so far made no arrests for the killings, but the Ministry of the Interior said it was closely monitoring the situation.

Several local media outlets have accused militias in the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).

On Thursday, just after supporters of Kata’ib Hezbollah, one of the most prominent Iran-backed PMF groups, briefly joined protests in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square, demonstrators say that 15 among the crowds were stabbed.

On Saturday, Iraqi Parliamentary Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi released a statement condemning the violence and urging that “government and the security forces should take their role by force of law to maintain security and protect citizens, their property and capabilities, and to prevent any armed appearances outside the framework of the state.”

Earlier in the day, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, strongly condemned the violence.

“The deliberate killing of unarmed protesters by armed elements is nothing less than an atrocity against the people of Iraq. The perpetrators must be identified and brought to justice without delay,” Hennis-Plasschaert said in a statement.

She urged Iraqi forces “to protect the peaceful protesters from violence” and called on demonstrators “to cooperate constructively to ensure the peaceful protests can be duly protected.”

The incident occurred on the same day the US sanctioned three Iran-backed Iraqi militia leaders for alleged roles in the killing of protesters in various parts of Iraq. Washington has said they would be seeking further sanctions against entities involved in the deaths of demonstrators.

Although slightly limited in scope since they began in Baghdad in early October, the protests, which quickly spread to other major cities in southern and central Iraqi provinces, have been ongoing despite the resignation of Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi. Last week, he said he had decided to step down as casualties from demonstrations rose to over 400 deaths and close to 17,000 wounded.

Iraqi forces have denied being behind a large part of the deaths of demonstrators, while PMF militias reportedly deployed snipers to shoot protesters, killing dozens at least, according to initial estimations in November.

Protesters have been calling for the expulsion of the political elite from power after years of rampant corruption, severe unemployment rates, and chronically poor public services.

A statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic stated that President Saleh is following with great interest and deep pain with the relevant governmental authorities what happened on Friday, December 6, an armed criminal attack by criminal gangs and outlaws, which killed a number of martyrs and wounded in the popular protest.

The President of the Republic stressed the legitimate right of any citizen to protest and demonstrate peacefully, and to prevent and criminalize any armed and violent response against peaceful demonstrators.

The president continued, saying: "The responsibility of the state security services, in addition to protecting peaceful demonstrators and public and private property and preserving the lives of Iraqis, is to prosecute and arrest outlaws criminals and bring them to a fair trial to receive the deterrent punishment they deserve."

Likelihood of the announcement of the next prime minister

Baghdad / Al-Sabah

Yesterday, Saturday, Shirwan Al-Waeli’s advisor revealed that several names were circulated to fill the position of the new prime minister, indicating that dialogues and consultations are underway to formulate a vision for choosing the appropriate site, and while the Allied Movement believes that the only solution to end the popular demonstrations is to announce an interim government that guarantees elections Early and dissolution of Parliament with a specific period of time, the Al-Fateh Coalition favored announcing the name of the candidate for prime minister early next week.

Continuous consultations
Al-Waeli said, in a press statement: "Dialogues and consultations are underway to crystallize a vision for choosing the next prime minister within the specifications that must be available in the alternative." Noting that "despite the difficulty of the consultations, the indicators go in the direction of not exceeding the constitutional deadline, as several names are now being circulated to fill Position. "
Al-Waeli explained that "the current controversy is between the specifications and the names, whereas the required specifications are required, whether what the reference called for in its previous speeches, which is firmness, courage and strength, or through what crystallizes visions inside the political kitchen, but there is a departure between people and the specifications."
For his part, the deputy of the coalition of Sa`ron al-Ghayb al-Amiri affirmed, in a press statement, that “the demonstrations will not end without the fulfillment of all of their demands and no demands can be achieved except through the formation of an interim transitional government,” explaining that “the interim government is responsible for arranging the status of laws for conducting Elections, announcing the dissolution of Parliament and holding early elections under UN supervision.
Al-Omairi added, "The reforms of the government or parliament are not sufficient, as they are issued by the same parties accused of corruption, and political forces must hold fair elections to restore confidence between the citizen and the politician."
Whereas, the representative of Raad Hussein’s walkers believes that it has become very difficult for the political forces to agree to please the Iraqi people with a personality that has the specifications that the protesters called for for several reasons, indicating that “as soon as names are presented, it will be rejected, because all names do not correspond to the will of the demonstrators.” .
Hussein added that "the constitution provides for granting a period of 15 days to nominate the prime minister. In the event of failure to reach it, the president of the republic will be the one who names the prime minister for fifteen days as well," suggesting "announcing the new personality the end of the constitutional period of the president of the republic that ends with a period of one month." .

The largest block
As for the deputy from the Al-Fateh Alliance, Fadel Jaber, he pointed out that "the abdication of the marchers as the largest bloc put the political blocs and the President of the Republic in front of a constitutional embarrassment," noting that "meetings and dialogues continue regarding the nomination of the alternative to the resigned Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, but no one dares to announce what He desires, and therefore most political blocs refrain from naming the alternative because of the current circumstances. "
Jaber added that "the matter will lead to a result, or we will enter into a very difficult crisis," expecting that "the crisis of naming the alternative will be resolved in the last hours before the end of the constitutional period."
For his part, MP from Al-Fateh Hanin Al-Qadu said, "Talking about extending the work of the current government and exceeding the constitutional time period is absolutely not allowed," explaining that "the current situation in the country and the deterioration of the security situation requires all political blocs to concede and meet to choose an acceptable future prime minister." popularly".
Al-Qudw pointed out that "political negotiations are open and continuous between all and cannot be stopped except by choosing a future prime minister," adding that "the president of the republic will announce the name of the next prime minister." Regarding the largest bloc in which the prime minister is chosen constitutionally, the deputy of the Al-Fateh Qusai Abbas Al-Shabki warned that "the issue of the largest bloc has been overlooked and was at the beginning of the work of the parliamentary year after the elections, but today we are working according to another constitutional article and the president of the republic is the one who assigns A person to take office, not the larger bloc that has become a thing of the past. "
Al-Shabaki said: "The specified period of fifteen days to assign a new candidate to the presidency of the Council of Ministers is a sufficient period for the presidency of the Republic and political forces if there is a desire, will and seriousness to resolve this file quickly," noting that "the general situation and through follow-up indicates the possibility of achieving this matter according to Constitutionally defined terms. Al-Shabaki added, "Differences of views on the personality that will address the position and the conditions that must be met in it do not nullify the affair of the issue because the goal in the end is to overcome this crisis, which is natural in democratic regimes, and the decision will then be for the majority in a manner consistent with the aspirations of the masses and the Iraqi people," noting that "our briefing The positions and statements of the Bloc and Al-Fateh blocs clearly indicate that they are marching towards the selection of an independent, non-partisan and not participating in previous governments, both legislative and executive, which is an important step. "

Formation of the "Wise" committee
To that, the gathering of Iraqi thinkers and academics, in a statement on the recent events that Iraq is going through, stressed the adoption of religious reference directives as a road map for implementing the desired reforms according to stages and timelines, support for peaceful demonstrations and legitimate demands, and the formation of committees of academics and thinkers to meet the demonstrators and receive their requests and put them within Executable legal frameworks.
The statement stressed the need to expedite the formation of the committee of the wise, which the reference of intellectuals and academics called for, whose mission is to advise and guide, and reform the Iraqi political system through three phases represented by a just election law that adopts the majority system (individual election) and multiple departments at the governorate level, and a new law for the election commission that guarantees its neutrality Its professionalism and acceptance by the people, and the judges have the greatest role in managing the electoral process, as well as dissolving the House of Representatives and calling for early elections within (60) days. This stage will be completed beginning in 2020.

Legal expert: The government is dissolved after the end of the 30 days set for the conduct of business and the President of the Republic takes office

Baghdad / Al-Ghad Press:

Today, Sunday, legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi said that the expiry of the 30-day period specified for the caretaker government without nominating an alternative person would lead to the legal dissolution of the Abdul-Mahdi government.

Al-Tamimi said in a post on his Facebook page, followed by "Al-Ghad Press" that "the president of the republic has 15 days to appoint a new and another candidate, and he can be independent if the period has passed and he did not succeed, and after the end of the 30 days set for conducting business, the government of Abdul Mahdi and those with him will end."

He explained, "Then we will turn to Article 81 of the Constitution, where the President of the Republic undertakes the task of conducting business and his obligation. The text above is P2 assigned to a new candidate. Within 15 days from the date of the vacancy, and if it does not succeed, the constitution does not address it, but I see that since the text came absolutely and the absolute applies to its launch Unless something comes to restrain, I see that if this vacuum occurs, the President of the Republic will continue until a new Prime Minister is found. Al-Tamimi: Iraqi law considers the killing of demonstrators a "terrorism" that puts the caretaker government accountable

Baghdad / Obelisk: What happened during Friday night (December 6, 2019) near Al-Khilani Square, in the center of Baghdad, are considered by legal people as a “genocide,” as they counted the recent violations in the provinces of Baghdad, Dhi Qar and Najaf as “terrorist acts,” according to Iraqi law.

Legal expert Ali al-Tamimi said in a statement singled out by the "obelisk" Saturday, December 7, 2019, that the government of Abdul-Mahdi "is not exempt from its responsibilities, as it is a caretaker government," noting that "public security is a government duty, internally and externally."

Al-Tamimi added that what happened in Baghdad, last night, is an "intentional killing" that makes the government accountable according to Article 406 of the Penal Code, and the government is also considered guilty according to Article 421 of incidents of infirmity.

Al-Tamimi was not satisfied with that. Rather, he went on to believe that Articles 6 and 7 of the International Criminal Court Law could also condemn the government of Abdul-Mahdi for the security breaches that occurred in Baghdad and the provinces.

Al-Tamimi concluded his speech to Al-Masala, "These crimes are not subject to statute of limitations, or the passage of time, as they can be triggered at any time to come."

And witnessed the continuous protests in Baghdad, Najaf and Nasiriyah, recently, security breaches, killing dozens of demonstrators, while hundreds were wounded, by unknown fire and security forces.

The death toll from the massacres of Al-Khilani and Al-Sunak massacre varied, on Friday night, between the killing of at least 12 and 19 demonstrators, after they were attacked by unknown gunmen, who briefly took control of a building occupied by the protesters, weeks ago near Jisr al-Sank, according to security and medical sources, and eyewitnesses.

Baghdad - Iraq today:

Member of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament for the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Ribwar Babkai, said that the Kurds will not accept less than their entitlement to the next federal government, while stressing that this is more important than naming the new prime minister.

"The Kurds have electoral and political entitlements and representation within the government, and the next prime minister understands this entitlement and cannot be waived," Babkai said.

He added, "The process of naming people is not important, but the most important thing is not to reduce the Kurdish entitlement, and to observe the rights of all components in the next government in order to be able to get the country out of the current situation and the great crisis."

He pointed out that "the Kurdish ministers in the current government did their role completely and did not shorten their work and there are no corruption impurities on them, but the defect is in the whole system and was even greater than the prime minister himself."

The Kurdish component has two ministers in the resigned federal government, namely, the Minister of Finance Fouad Hussein, and the Minister of Construction and Housing, two rikki banks.
