Why Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman wore his uniform at impeachment hearing

In a strange twist, decorated Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman had to explain why he was wearing his full dress uniform during Tuesday's House impeachment hearing.

Like other U.S. military officers detailed to the National Security Council, Vindman normally wears civilian clothes in keeping with the council's dress requirements.

But in formally appearing before Congress, Vindman is required to wear his Army uniform, as he did at Tuesday’s hearing at the U.S. Capitol and at his initial, closed-door deposition three weeks ago.

"A soldier performing duties in an official capacity will normally be in uniform," Col. Kathy Turner, an Army spokeswoman, said in a written statement. "In cases where a soldier is detailed to an agency outside of DOD, the individual would follow the policies of that agency."

Another U.S. official said that Vindman was wearing the appropriate uniform when testifying before Congress.

"I understand now he wears his uniform when he goes in," to appear before Congress, President Donald Trump noted during a Cabinet meeting at the White House that occurred while Vindman was on Capitol Hill.

Trump also said, "I understand somebody had the misfortune of calling him 'Mr.' and he corrected them."

Trump was referring to when Rep. Devin Nunes R-Calif., addressed Vindman as "Mr. Vindman" drawing a quick request from the Army officer that he be addressed as "lieutenant colonel."

When he was later asked about that exchange by Rep. Chris Stewart R-Utah, Vindman explained that his request was based off "the attacks I have had in the press and Twitter have kind of eliminated the fact that either -- marginalized me as a military officer."

"Do you always insist on civilians calling you by your rank?" Stewart asked Vindman.

"Representative Stewart, I'm in my uniform, wearing my military rank. I just thought it was appropriate to stick with that," Vindman replied.

One of the ribbons that Vindman is authorized to wear on his uniform is the Purple Heart, an award given only to service members who have been wounded in combat.

Vindman earned that medal for injuries he suffered in Iraq in 2003 following the explosion of a roadside bomb that damaged his vehicle.

Above his ribbons he is also authorized to wear the Combat Infantryman's Badge that can only be earned by a soldier who has experienced combat.

I seem to a recall another decorated military officer wearing his dress uniform when testifying to congress in the 80's.  Seemed appropriate then, as it does now.

It is sickening that members of Congress are disrespecting our service men and women... And to think Nunes doesn't understand that uniforms are required is hard to believe... I think he was trying to belittle a decorated soldier to defend a draft dodger... Disgusting...

Thanks for posting this display of unpatriotic action by a member of congress and for educating those who don't know the policies and requirements of the enlisted.

Sorry Shabbs but you know full well the UCMJ and that not everyone wearing the uniform is honorable.

His testimony alone shows him to be in multiple UCMJ violations.

How's that?  Not the first time you've disparaged decorated military personnel for being honorable and performing the duty they swore to uphold, while giving a draft dodging narcissist a pass.

Let's see, lying to Congress. If he doesn't know who the whistle blower is then how can he expose him?

Claims he never used the word Demand with respect to his report to POTUS yet he did use demand in his opening statement.

Breaking His chain of command. Using the excuse that his immediate supervisor was busy. I don't know how you flyboys do it  but in the Hard Core Marine Corps that alone will land you in a court martial.

In his testimony he claimed that he warned the Newly Elected president of the Ukraine to look out for Russia and

" AVOID GETTING INTO AMERICAN POLITICS" . Referring to Giuliani working outside the State department for POTUS.

Essentially his problem with Trump  (as well as the rest of the state department foreign affairs) is that Trump doesn't trust those scumbags and choose to do foreign policy on his own. Something the Constitution grants the POTUS.

‘I am an American,’ Vindman reminds Trump allies in hearing

Associated Press LAURIE KELLMAN,Associated Press 19 hours ago
2d6e210d43dd73efee79a934412f0a73 National Security Council aide Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman arrives to testify before the House Intelligence Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, during a public impeachment hearing of President Donald Trump's efforts to tie U.S. aid for Ukraine to investigations of his political opponents. (Shawn Thew/Pool via AP)

WASHINGTON (AP) — “It’s Lt. Col. Vindman.”

With that, the Iraq War veteran, his chest flush with ribbons and commendations, tersely reminded Republican lawmakers questioning his judgment and loyalty just whom they were trying to discredit as the impeachment drive against President Donald Trump veered into the personal.

Alexander Vindman: Purple Heart recipient, career diplomat, Army infantry officer. And this: ``I am an American.”

Vindman, a Soviet Jewish immigrant, felt it necessary to state his allegiance as he batted away Republican questions about the offers he got to work for Ukraine’s government. “I immediately dismissed these offers,” he said. Still, the queries carried an implicit suggestion of disloyalty.

When the senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Devin Nunes, looked down from the dais Tuesday and addressed the witness as “Mr. Vindman,” the pushback was unmistakable.

“Ranking member, it’s Lt. Col. Vindman please,” he said.

The exchange highlighted the extent to which identity politics are playing a role in the impeachment investigation against the 45th president on the cusp of the 2020 election year. Trump has fueled the who-are-you nature of American politics ever since he announced his candidacy in 2015 with a declaration that some Mexicans are criminals and rapists.

Trump and his allies tried to identify Vindman and fellow witness Jennifer William, an adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, as “Never Trumpers.”

“I’m not sure I know an official definition of a ‘Never Trumper,’” Williams said, but she rejected the label.

“I'd call myself never partisan,” Vindman said.

Vindman, with his military bearing and increasingly confident performance, presented a special challenge for Republicans struggling to defend Trump’s pressure campaign to get Ukraine to investigate Hunter Biden, the son of Trump’s Democratic rival Joe Biden. Some GOP lawmakers thanked Vindman for his service even as they questioned his loyalty, to the president and the nation.

Even Trump seemed somewhat restrained Tuesday.

“I don’t know him. I don’t know, as he says, ‘Lieutenant Colonel.’ I understand somebody had the misfortune of calling him ‘Mister’ and he corrected them,” Trump said. “I never saw the man.”

But before Vindman finished testifying, the White House was raising fresh questions about him on its official Twitter feed.

Vindman was 3 years old in 1979 when his family fled Ukraine for the U.S. Earlier in his Army career, Vindman served as an infantry officer and did tours in South Korea, Germany and Iraq. In October 2004, he was wounded by a roadside bomb and awarded the Purple Heart.

Since 2008, he's served as a foreign area officer specializing in Eurasia, leading him to stints in Kyiv and Moscow. Vindman also served as a political-military affairs officer for Russia for the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He moved to the Trump White House in July 2018 after being tapped to serve on the National Security Council. Voting records show Vindman was previously registered as a Democrat.

“Dad, I’m sitting here today in the U.S. Capitol talking to our elected professionals ... proof that you made the right decision 40 years ago to leave the Soviet Union and come here to the United States of America in search of a better life for our family,” Vindman said in his opening statement. “Do not worry. I will be fine for telling the truth.”

Testifying in full uniform, he was unafraid to call out his commander in chief: Trump’s lean on Ukraine to gain information on a Democratic rival was “improper,” Vindman said.

“Without hesitation, I knew I had to report this,” Vindman testified. “It was inappropriate, it was improper for the president to demand an investigation into a political opponent.”

As Republicans questioned his dedication and his service, Vindman shifted from visibly nervous to steady and even defiant.

Utah Republican Rep. Chris Stewart, a retired Air Force pilot, brought up Vindman’s uniform and his exchange with Nunes.

“Lt. Col. Vindman, I see you’re wearing your dress uniform,” Stewart said, thanking Vindman and his brothers for their service. “Do you always insist on civilians calling you by your rank?”

Vindman said he wore his uniform because he had been subjected to Twitter “attacks” that seemed to “marginalize me as a military officer.”

“I just thought it was appropriate to stick with that,” Vindman said of his uniform.

Stewart replied that Nunes “meant no disrespect to you.”

But Democrats weren’t ready to let the matter go.

“Your loyalty is being questioned ... because you are an immigrant,” said Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., himself an immigrant.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, D-N.Y., said the questions echoed an old trope about Jews having “dual loyalty.”

“There’s been a lot of complaints and there’s been a lot of insinuations and there’s been a lot of suggestions maybe that your service is somehow not to be trusted,” Maloney said. “We’ve had a lot of dust kicked up.”

Simply putting on a uniform and sucking off the American *** for 20 years doesn't make you a hero or honorable.

That idiot has proven himself to be a liar and to give NO REGARD for his superiors when it suits him. Furthermore, his constant crying about comments on Twitter strongly suggest that he's the kind of COWARD who would turn and run leaving your sorry butt alone on the battlefield.

I am not going to argue about him wearing a uniform. LTC North did as Shabs posted above. It is their duty. I do have a problem with the way he went around his chain of command. He is a LTC. He KNOWS Better! If he was a Battalion Commander and one of his 2Lt's went around him to the Brigade Commander on something, I wonder what he would say or do? He would blow his freaking top! You just do not do that! I also find it interesting that him and his brother, a JAG attorney, get assignments in DC, assigned to the White House staff, all at the same time. I have heard several talk about this and I agree with them. The odds on this happening are astronomical. They should buy a lottery ticket. Maybe someone has bought one for them. It should also be noted that his brother was a campaign strategist for a Demoncratic Congressional candidate at one time. So you know where his political affiliation lies.

First off I have the greatest respect and gratitude for our military.  However,  I just listened to a new video by Amazing Polly (an awesome alt news researcher) and learned all about Vindman's family.  It sure looks like he's been connected to the Deep State since his family immigrated from Ukraine in 1979 when he was 3 years old.  (Also, after only a few hours, this video was pulled from her youtube channel, but luckily it's still up at her bitchute channel.  This tells us this info is a definite threat to the Deep State.)   While I think most of us do respect our military and the uniform they wear, when it's used by a traitor to betray our country, then I believe that PERSON, regardless of the uniform he's wearing, deserves zero respect, and quite possibly to be arrested for treason.

https://www.bitchute.com/video/MJsTquX9WMk/

Also, I just want to point out that probably most average Democrats/people on the left are not bad people, they're just uninformed.  They trust the media and until they are open to the possibility that they might be wrong and that they've been misled (which won't come easily), there's no point in arguing with them.  When someone is unwilling to listen or see another point of view, trading insults is not productive.  It just creates anger and the world already has way too much of that.  But on a positive note, we have a new sheriff in town, and Q dropped a bombshell report a few hours ago that may finally blow the covers off what the Deep State has been so desperately trying to keep hidden.  And even if it doesn't do it, it's a least a good step in that direction.  I just posted that information here:  https://dinarvets.com/forums/index.php?/topic/270028-will-this-be-what-finally-exposes-the-deep-state/

I hope it made you feel better attacking my faith out of nowhere. Even though it was a clear Violation of the forum rules, I forgive you. But maybe if you find my post  (delivered with evidentiary proof)

so offensive you could put me on ignore or report them to the Staff.
