Al-Ahed News - Follow-up

The MP from the State of Law coalition, Alia Nassif, said today, Sunday, that the region will not find a suitable figure more than Abdul-Mahdi, and we reached a dead end, and there is no objection to Abdul-Mahdi's return.

Nassif said in an interview with "Al-Ahd Satellite TV" that " the political forces rethought Abd al-Mahdi as a matter of responsibility and - Ali al-Shukri or Abd al-Mahdi's return are the closest to the prime minister."

" We proceeded with the implementation of the economic agreement with China, which needs an experienced personality and the Shiite leaders before a legal responsibility to face the coming challenges, " she said.

Nassif pointed out, " Abdul-Mahdi's trip to the region has no justification, the first of which was to communicate with representatives of the Kurds in Baghdad instead of going to the region and to meet him with greater dimensions than discussing the security conditions only."

She explained, "The decision to expel the foreign forces was coherent and agreed upon by leaders, al-Qaeda, and Trump, who recognized that ISIS is an American workmanship, so getting America out is a national duty ."

She added, " Next Sunday will witness the introduction of new names for the prime minister and Ali Shukri or the return of Abdul-Mahdi are closest to the prime minister, indicating that" most of the Shiite forces with the return of Abdul-Mahdi. "

She addressed the Nassif of the Shiite forces, saying: " All Shiites must melt together the names and unite their voice and other forces believe that deciding the prime minister is a Shiite matter."

Parliament Presidency confirms the continuation of the salaries of the Kurdistan region

Baghdad / Obelisk: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Bashir Al-Haddad denied Thursday 16 January 2020 the issuance of any decision by the federal government to stop the payment of salaries and dues to the Kurdistan region.

Al-Haddad said in a statement received by the obelisk, that "the book that was sent in the name of the Chairman of the Integrity Committee expresses his personal opinion," stressing that "this requirement cannot be easily implemented, because the House of the Territory and the Federal Government have an agreement on that and the agreement is valid until now, and in accordance with its implementation it is Send salaries to regional employees. "

He added, "The demonstrations taking place in Iraq and the resignation of the Federal Prime Minister led to the suspension of meetings between the delegations of the region and the federal government regarding the budget and the share of the Kurds in it," noting that "Baghdad will continue to send the salaries of the employees of the region until the two sides reach an agreement in this regard."

SULAIMANI — The Kurdistan Region has yet to begin implementing a new oil deal with the federal government as final details have yet to be agreed with Baghdad, its president Nechirvan Barzani told Reuters.

“The deal was signed but a lot of details have yet to be agreed. They have a caretaker government at the moment,” Barzani said, referring to the cabinet in Baghdad.

Last year, Erbil and Baghdad agreed an early deal that most of the oil produced in the Region would be transferred to national state company SOMO in exchange for budget funds beginning this month.

But the exact budget allocation has yet to be agreed and the two sides also need to decide how to service Kurdistan’s debt in which oil was used as collateral. At the moment, Kurdistan Regional Government’s exports stand at around 400,000-500,000 barrels per day (bpd).

Several informed sources have told NRT Digital Media on background that no oil has been delivered yet, pending the passage of a new federal budget.

Under last year’s budget, the Region was supposed to send 250,000 bpd to SOMO, but never did. In retaliation Baghdad cut the amount of money it sent to Erbil, only transferring enough to pay public sector salaries.
