‘I Followed the Directions of the President’: Read Gordon Sondland’s Explosive Impeachment Testimony

In explosive written testimony, European Union ambassador Gordon Sondland told House impeachment investigators that he was just following orders when he pressured Ukraine to investigate the Bidens and the Crowdstrike conspiracy in exchange for the release of hundreds of millions in U.S. funding for Ukraine’s defense.

In his testimony, Sondland insists he was acting at the direction of the president of the United States:

Trump Made Me Do It:

Secretary Perry, Ambassador Volker and I worked with Mr. Rudy Giuliani on Ukraine matters at the express direction of the president of the United States. We did not want to work with Mr. Giuliani. Simply put, we played the hand we were dealt. We all understood that if we refused to work with Mr. Giuliani, we would lose an important opportunity to cement relations between the United States and Ukraine. So we followed the president’s orders….

As a presidential appointee, I followed the directions of the president. We worked with Mr. Giuliani because the president directed us to do so.

The Quid Pro Quo Was Real:

Mr. Giuliani’s requests were a quid pro quo for arranging a White House visit for President Zelensky. Mr. Giuliani demanded that Ukraine make a public statement announcing investigations of the 2016 election/DNC server and Burisma. Mr. Giuliani was expressing the desires of the president of the United States, and we knew that these investigations were important to the president.

“Everyone Was in the Loop”:

Everyone was in the loop. It was no secret.

Vice President Mike Pence Knew:

I mentioned to Vice President Pence before the meetings with the Ukrainians that I had concerns that the delay in aid had become tied to the issue of investigations.

And So Did Secretary of State Mike Pompeo:

We kept the leadership of the State Department and the NSC informed of our activities. That included communications with Secretary of State Pompeo,

I will just leave this right here....You decide.

10 Things You Should Know About Gordon Sondland's Testimony Today. In the end, there was neither a quid nor a quo. The only victims were the egos of some bureaucrats who felt ignored for a while.

The U.S. Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, delivered testimony on Wednesday and the Democrats are gleeful.
So far, all of their witnesses have been a complete dud, but today that are claiming Sondland has proved their case. What they are pointing is the Ambassador's "guess", but that doesn't prove any impeachable conduct.
It changes nothing. Despite the media claims today, Sondland is yet another witness who can't testify to the Democrats' accusations. Listed below are 10 key points.

1) The most important quote out of this hearing from Sondland was at the beginning: "My testimony is I've never heard from President Trump that the aid was conditioned on the investigations."

2) Sondland relates a conversation he had with President Trump:
SONDLAND: What do you want from Ukraine?
TRUMP: I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. I just want Zelensky to do the right thing, to do what he ran on.

3) Q: Did President Trump ever tell you personally about any pre-conditions for anything?
Sondland: No.
Q: Any pre-conditions for the aid to be released?
Sondland: No.
Q: Any pre-conditions for a White House meeting?
Sondland: Personally, No.

4) Once again, Sondland said "President Trump never told me directly that the aid was conditioned on the meetings.
"The only thing we got directly from Rudy Guiliani was that the Burisma and 2016 elections were conditioned on the White House meeting. The aid was my own personal, you know, guess.”

5) Sondland said he remembers pushing for probes into the Burisma natural gas company, but he did not link it to Joe or Hunter Biden.
The other witnesses who have already testified said they believed there was corruption at Burisma, which paid Hunter Biden's firm $3 million.

6) The media is definitely over reacting today, but Sondland's testimony is nothing new. He has consistently said he never knew why military aid was held up and was told repeatedly there was no quid pro quo. At the most, the aid was held up for 55 days.

7) Sondland attributed much of his concern to Trump's “directive” that his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani be involved in any Ukraine effort.
The Democrats are basing their case on the fact that Trump said to Sondland, "Talk to Rudy". The GOP counsel said it was a suggestion, not an order, and we already know Giuliani has often freelanced.

😎 The Vice President's office categorically denies Sondland's claim that he told Pence he was concerned about withheld aid. and they issued the following statement:
“The Vice President never had a conversation with Gordon Sondland about investigating the Bidens, Burisma, or the conditional release of financial aid to Ukraine based upon potential investigations."

9) Chairman Schiff said today that impeachment is a legal process, but he previously claimed it was a political process. That is the justification he used to deny due process to Republicans.
They have no right to subpoena witnesses, and the rules are blatantly biased.

10) The Democrats today referred to "Ambassador Taylor’s testimony based on his meticulous and careful contemporaneous notes."
Bill Taylor's testimony significantly contradicts that of David Holmes, who is scheduled to testify tomorrow.
Holmes' written statement includes supposedly exact quotes from the Sondland/Trump July phone call, but the quotes are solely based on his four-month-old memories.
Holmes admits "I did not take notes," and it did not occur to him to come forward about the call until last week.
In addition, Holmes admits he is motivated to bolster Democrats' case for impeachment.

Quoting the Rolling Stone

Those quotes are from the ambassador. His words... If you click the link you can read his entire testimony. I'm sorry you don't like them but again, those quotes (you know the paragraphs in italic letters) are his actual testimony. So it does appear everyone knew. Giuliani was running our foreign policy and he was under the direction of the president.... So what now, are going to bash the decorated veteran? The republicans have come up with 22 excuses for this matter and they are running out.

The American people are disgusted and I can't wait to see what comes in the next election.. We have already seen Trump and his shrinking number of worshippers losing elections in recent weeks.. His cult of personality is running out like they always do... Of course like any cult leader there will be those who worship him until the end... Seen it too many times.

MPs demand Zelensky, Trump investigate suspicion of U.S.-Ukraine corruption involving $7.4 bln

4 min read

KYIV. Nov 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian members of parliament have demanded the presidents of Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, investigate suspicions of the legalization of $7.4 billion by the "family" of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych through the American investment fund Franklin Templeton Investments, which they said has ties to the U.S. Democratic Party.

At a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Wednesday, MP Andriy Derkach announced that deputies have received new materials from investigative journalists about international corruption and the participation of Ukrainian officials in it.

"Last week, November 14, the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO), unnoticed by the media, announced a new suspicion to the notorious owner of Burisma, ex-Ecology Minister Zlochevsky. According to the suspicion, the Yanukovych family is suspected, in particular, with legalizing (laundering) of criminally obtained income through Franklin Templeton Investments, an investment fund carrying out purchases of external government loan bonds totaling $7.4 billion," Derkach said.

With reference to the investigation, he emphasized: it was money criminally obtained by the "family" of Yanukovych and invested in the purchase of Ukrainian debt in 2013-2014.

For his part, MP Oleksandr Dubinsky from the Servant of the People faction said that according to investigators, "the Yanukovych 'family' illegally obtained $7.4 billion and laundered the funds through an investment fund close to some representatives of the U.S. Democratic Party in the form of external government loan bonds."

Meanwhile, Derkach said that several facts indicate Franklin Templeton Investments' relationship with the U.S. Democratic Party.

"The son of Templeton's founder, John Templeton Jr., was one of President Obama's major campaign donors. Another fund-related character is Thomas Donilon. Managing Director of BlackRock Investment Institute, shareholder Franklin Templeton Investments, which has the largest share in the fund. It is noteworthy that he previously was Obama's national security advisor," Derkach said.

The MP said that the presidents of Ukraine and the United States should combine the efforts of the two countries to establish facts of corruption and money laundering with the participation of citizens of both countries.

"President Zelensky must pick up the phone, dial Trump, ask for help and cooperation in the fight against corruption and fly to Washington. The issue of combating international corruption in Ukraine with the participation of citizens, businessmen and U.S. officials should become a key during the meeting of the two presidents," he said.

Derkach said as a result of the meeting, it is necessary to build interaction between the Ukrainian investigating authorities and the U.S. Department of Justice to obtain information about the organizers of the bond issue, clients and beneficiaries of investment funds for each purchase, interrogate fund officials, etc.

As reported, on October 9, 2019, Derkach published official correspondence between NABU and the U.S. Embassy, according to which the first deputy of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Gizo Uglava, through his assistant Polina Chyzh, for a long time provided the U.S. Embassy with information that negatively affected the course of events in Ukraine and the United States.

Derkach said Chyzh received instructions from the representative of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine Hanna Emelyanova to provide information on the case involving Zlochevsky.

Derkach also announced the amount of money transferred to representatives of the Burisma Group, including Hunter Biden. According to documents, in general, in favor of Hunter Biden, Alexander Kwasniewski, Alan Apter and Devon Archer, Burisma paid about $16.5 million.

According to Derkach, ex-Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin repeatedly appealed to the NABU Director Artem Sytnyk in the framework of criminal proceedings for Burisma, but constantly received formal responses. The activities of Shokin, according to the MP, irritated then U.S. Vice President Joe Biden during his fifth visit to Kyiv in two years. The visit on December 7-8, 2015, was devoted to solving the issue of Shokin's resignation for the affairs of Zlochevsky and Burisma, he said.

"The subject of pressure was the $1 billion credit guarantee that the United States should have provided to Ukraine: Biden himself acknowledged the pressure in his speech to the U.S. Foreign Relations Council in January 2018," Derkach said.
