so this is your "value added" contribution to DV?.......

Thanks for making my point!    CL

And what is your valued added contribution? To never question? To accept everything at face value?

Thanks for making my point. Without different opinions this would be rather boring. To be a patriot is to question authority not to bow down to it.

I think my "value added" here can speak for itself...

As to how you define being a Patriot ......In my world it's a little more involved....!

You have a good day....

Nice attempt at "shaming".....

Same concept for you....."value added"........what is it you add to this site?

How do you add to a positive culture on this site.....?

CL

Same as you, I suppose...I provide articles with links when possible...and present them in a respectful and polite manner with regards to other posters, without succumbing to peer pressure or abandoning my personal or political convictions....and provide some humor along the way in off topics, rumors and occasionally the weekly chat, though not recently.

I agree there is a lot more to being a patriot, but it begins with opening your eyes and being willing to question the actions of our leaders. Denying questionable behavior and refusing to look at facts as presented is more cult-like than patriotic. There is no question our system is corrupt from top to bottom. Any patriot would expect more than lies and excuses from our government.

A discussion moderator or debate moderator is a person whose role is to act as a neutral participant in a debate or discussion, holds participants to time limits and tries to keep them from straying off the topic of the questions being raised in the debate.

Perhaps moderator is not the correct title...

B/A

I can assure you that I constantly moderate myself, otherwise I would have you in tears everyday.

So now you're the "word police"?

You are going to define what this site represents by redefining free speech on this site?

Pathetic and delusional.....

It really might be better if you took your devisiveness else where......it's getting old!

JMO.       CL

They don't believe in free speech as is seen in every post made by them. For example, B/A posting the definition of Moderator, is an attempt to get to stop debating because Moderators "shouldn't get involved ".

I don't know what @Adam Montana thinks of my political views or my method of debating. But the one thing I do know is that Adam wants the site to get traffic and vigorous debate does that.  If he has an issue with me there's a section for Mods that he would tell me his issue in.

CL what is the point of discussion if opposing views are not appreciated. What if I said if this was my site you would gone because I disagree with you. I suppose I would be considered The Deep State or George Soros. Most people here on DV don't even wander to this part of the site because they don't find politics entertaining or stimulating. Then there are those of us who enjoy the banter.

Gratefully, Adam may not appreciate everyone's views on politics, but he does seem to appreciate the worthiness of everyone's input and their right to express themselves. Basically it is good for business. Imagine how boring it would be if I wasn't here for everyone to neg... It would become a boring lovefest of hand holding and singing Kumbaya.

B/A

Free speech  except when it's a moderator joining in the debate, RIGHT

This is EXACTLY what you do. You refuse to even consider reading something from the other side.

That's not true... I happily posted a damming article yesterday about Biden and his voting against the rights of Americans... Even CL thanked me for it.

I said in a post just the other day, the Democrats have no one I will vote for at this point. I freely point out problems with politicians from both sides. Have you ever seen something you didn't like with any of them, other than they oppose Trump? There are conservatives who oppose some of his ideas. Being a conservative yourself, do you condemn them for having an opposing view to Mr. Wonderful?

For the record... "moderators" here are not expected to have a neutral bias or lack of opinion when acting as a normal member and participating in conversations.

The only time they have "neutral" stances is when it comes to interpreting the rules of the forum... I ask that they keep their personal feelings out of any actions that they may take as a moderator.

Their personal views are not expected to change because they are a "moderator" here, nor do I ask them to act (much) different than they would otherwise.

The fact stands that they can ban someone if they get annoyed enough  but for the most part, the mods here are just normal people like you and I, and they deserve the same respect and considerations as you and I. No more, no less.

Carry on.

Next we'll get organized for a coup and POLITICAL power shift around here ( in the textbook Socialist/ Social Justice/ Vision  tradition, of course) as a climate change is needed in our microcosm......

Hello LGD....It's not that...Infact I'd like to explain that my post ( which got promptly negged, which I did expect, along with others on this issue) was simply and genuinely only asking for a clarification but that was deemed by someone here as something deserving an immediate punishment (?????) evidently.....For some strange reason, I add.....

Point being that whoever prepares the icon part appearing on every post a member writes.... maybe in your case  forgot and/ or didn't show clearly enough near your name and symbol ( unlike other Mods, as far as I remember, where it says unmistakenly "Moderator") the word "Moderator"...That in some of us created confusion

I hope I was clear in trying to explain ...

Now ( thanks to CL who was so kind to post the whole Mods names  thing)  it's been solved.....

Are you sure????? A Moderator a neutral  participant??????

In that case, then...Houston, we indeed have a problem!|!!!!  JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!

It's almost impossible to remain neutral...And certainly not in Politics

But one choosing to be a Mod could try and supervise coldly , detachedly, without letting his political feelings show

Like a referee in a soccer ( or football, basketball or whatever sport) game ...Avoiding to symphatize and side with either team.....

But that's probably asking for too much...Ok

Hmmm........I do not agree and am somehow surprised you say something like that...As you are undoubtedly an intelligent Individual

I personally would never think, nor write, nor say that to anyone here , no matter how different and far from me politically as ( at least so I was told, explained) we have all the same rights to free speech around here

Hope it doesn't turn out that story that we are all equal but some here are more equal than others.....

This is how I look at it.

If a Mod wants to participate in a lively discussion as a regular individual I have no issues with that.

If they do have to invoke their Mod powers and they use them fairly I have no issues with that.

If they become heavy handed then a person only has to drop Mr. Montana a note and ask him to look into it or another Mod if they prefer.

Lets stop the whining and get back to arguing and fighting over stupid stuff.  :D
