Baghdad - Writings

As usual, there are those who deliberately fired live bullets and tear gas at the demonstrators despite the peaceful demonstrations in Hirak today, 25 October 2019, as they chanted `` Iran Libra Libra Libra ... Free Baghdad '' and their determination to stand and cheer against the corrupt and against Iran's control of the Iraqi decision.

The chants of protesters who had flocked to Baghdad's Tahrir Square since last night seemed to upset some masked elements in black, prompting them to fire live ammunition.

In turn, Western and local media broadcast footage documenting the repression of protesters at the entrance of the Green Zone after crossing the bridge of the Republic this morning, and the fall of wounded among the ranks of the protesters. Security elements are backed by Iran.

Demonstrators break the barrier of the republic .. And violent skirmishes with security forces

BAGHDAD / Obelisk: Demonstrators continued to flock to Tahrir Square in the center of Baghdad, an hour before Thursday night, while a large number of them began to march towards the Green Zone, crossing the bridge of the Republic, after they managed to drop concrete barriers, to face the firing of tear gas , Causing choking.

The protesters continue to try to cross into the Green Zone for the second time, but the security forces are working to disperse them, by various means, says the obelisk correspondent.

He added that the special force, which directed tear gas towards the demonstrators, pulled back, as the protesters rushed to the green. Federal police received them with flowers.

He noted that the force, which is dressed in black clothes, is currently shooting at the demonstrators and security forces also from the federal, wounding a large number of sides.

Activists commented that there were forces firing tear gas and firing live ammunition, although the demonstrations were peaceful and unruly.

On Thursday night, security forces dispersed dozens of demonstrators who managed to enter the Green Zone through one of its gates.

Here are the demonstrations that started on October 1, 2019, starting again in the historic march of the Iraqi people, towards freedom from corruption, and mismanagement of the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi, which proved a total failure at all levels, in which security instability disrupted, and the parties clashed on the center, and widened Unemployment, the country's debt has risen, and strategic fiscal reserves have declined despite the defeat of ISIS and the burden of the war on terror.

The continuation of demonstrations until the overthrow of the government, has become a fate between the state of Iraq or not.

The overthrow of Abdul Mahdi's government is essential to maintaining the country's democratic system, which is in response to the demands of the majority of the people represented by the demonstrations in Baghdad and all cities.

Here, the obelisk affirms that it sincerely supports the peaceful demonstrations that are far from sabotage and chaos.

The continuation of the demonstrations until the necessary political change is made, misses the opportunity for those who want to divide the country, exploiting any opportunity for a deep crisis that will bring down the democratic system.

"The resignation of the government today without providing an alternative means leaving the country to anarchy," Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said in a televised address carried by most local media after midnight on Friday.

Abdul Mahdi also spoke about the demonstrations, stressing that instructions had been issued that "no one should be arrested without warrants."

Demonstrations are last breath to save Iraq: UNHRC

Fadhil al-Garawi, a member of the Human Rights Commission, said that the Iraqi citizen is suffering serious violations. Friday's demonstrations returned "the last breath to save the country."

"The biggest challenge in these demonstrations is the new test of the security forces, which have been tasked with protecting the demonstrations and are supposed to be trained to deal with them," Garawi said.

"There have been a lot of violations in previous demonstrations, abuse and excessive use of force by firing live bullets, rubber weapons, tear gas and indiscriminate arrests, he added." "It was a black day for freedom of expression in a democratic country."

"Whatever the reforms, the citizen needs it to be implemented on the ground and needs his right to equality, housing, health, and work. These rights are not in harmony with the names of the reforms," he said.  "The Iraqi is shocked by the miserable reality and serious violations that happen to him every day."

He went on saying,  "today we are in front of a new station to restore confidence between the citizen and the government, and this demonstration is the last breath to save Iraq." Dealing with these protests must be with full caution and great effectiveness and speed of achievement with regard to service and economic affairs and at that time there should be actual committees in the provinces and give powers to the governors to apply these fixes," he added.
