BAGHDAD - Mawazine News,
a leader in the coalition of state law, on Sunday, 4 scenarios to get out of the crisis experienced by Iraq after the angry demonstrations, while pointing out that one of them is to stop the constitution.
Mohammed Al-Sihoud said in an interview with Mawazine News correspondent that "the heads of the blocs have 4 scenarios and they have to go towards one of them to correct the course of the political process, and the first scenario is a ministerial change. Everyone has equal rights and duties. "
He added, "The second scenario is a government change either the dismissal or resignation of the government and this leads us to one of two things either chaos that eat green and hard or the formation of a government of the same blocs that formed the current government and therefore change the faces is not only, the third scenario is to stop the work of the Constitution and dissolve parliament and form a government "This is an emergency for a year.
He pointed out, "The fourth scenario, which is important and must be agreed upon by the political blocs, legislation just law for elections (individual law, the highest votes, multiple constituencies in the province) an independent election commission selected by the Supreme Judicial Council, resulting in a parliament capable of assuming its legitimate responsibilities The new government adopts the principle of equitable distribution of wealth, which we now lack, where the quota has left class distinction and deterioration in the level of living and service, corruption and waste of state funds.

A former adviser to Abdul-Mahdi advises him to resign for not being able to rein in the ruling parties
Laith Shubar, former prime minister's adviser, renewed his call for "Abdul Mahdi" to resign from his position, stressing that he did not succeed in restraining the ruling parties to play on the ropes and their emotions and beliefs.

"Mahdi must resign because he could not rein in the ruling parties this year," he wrote in an article published today. "He could not convince people, despite the many good qualities that most of our politicians do not have to convince them that he is in their side and not." On the side of these political forces that aim to swallow everything .. and could not convince them that his national decision is stronger than outside interference .. Therefore, day after day, optimism in its introduction after a year became a curse and loss of confidence does not work with new decisions or reform packages first, second and third. .

"The survival of Abdul-Mahdi will expose him to blackmail by the political forces more and eventually will give him a scapegoat for the accumulations of its failure, corruption and badness, and then this date will disappear from the virtues to replace him with a black end and a conclusion not deserved," he said.

If Mahdi resigns it will be total chaos, not good for us investors. Having said that, he needs to be more assertive. For example, I don't know why he hasn't told the CBI to stop the auctions and to move to a market economy already. That's one of the demand s of the protesters.

Political Reform in Iraq  20 October 2019

logo_.png

The treatment of Iraqi political forces with the legislative demonstrations differed between the fearful anticipation and the invisible and invisible investor. Many Shiite political forces did not hide their concern and amazement at the rapid and angry protest action that swept the streets of half of the Iraqi provinces, especially as this protest clearly indicated the responsibility of these forces. Which managed power and economy in what the country reached because of its mistakes, failures, inability and limited experience and perceptions, the concern of Shiite leaders and actors reached echoes in the street and its results appeared in the nature of the actions taken during the events and after the demonstrations, and in the nature of the statement It was not too late to declare bias to the demonstrators and warn against the architects. The other half of the powers

There was no clear reaction of the political actors to the demonstration, but the implicit rhetoric was conducive to the demonstrations in the hope that it would exert considerable pressure to weaken the dominance of the Shiite forces on the joints of political and security decision and later allow the Sunni forces to develop the discourse to improve the positions, and obtain privileges and concessions in the structure. Power and the state in general, and to mobilize more evidence of the mismanagement of the Shiite political actor and fragment of his powers and depend on his decisions and the domination of others. What confirms this logic is that the demonstrations do not extend to the Sunni areas and the Sunni street away from them, and only to monitor and support the media.

As for the Kurds, the region remained comfortable with what is happening in the center and south to demonstrate mismanagement and politics, chronic instability and the need for the Kurds to get rid of this bitter reality by protecting the demand for independence and separation, or at least make it alive and personal in the agenda and political bazaar, what need Kurds to stay within a central state Its poles and its people are wrestling with crises from every side? Threatened by security anxiety and widespread fighting? . The Kurds in their internal position more upbeat than the Sunnis and what they would like if the demonstrations continue to loosen the grip of the authorities in Baghdad more, although they are worried about calls for revision and amendment of the Constitution so as not to lose their big gains, but they are largely reassured that they can thwart any such endeavor reduces They have enormous privileges, even if the parliament succeeds in implementing the draft amendment to the Constitution.

Unless the Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish political forces combined, which ruled the country, are plagued by bad deeds and attitudes, they are facing a major and dangerous turning point. The struggle of the Iraqi national movement, which wants to disperse the Iraqis and group them into a single national identity, seeks to build a new state without longitudinal, racial or nationalist extremist lines. An Iraqi generation that has dominated the history of the hundred years of the Iraqi state with all its failures and protrusions. Competing for authority

We can describe it and understand it, but in any case put the political class in front of the crossroads either reform and conscious response and readiness for this societal change with a political psychological understanding, social phenomena, economic class, or waiting for the collapse of the system, which remained rigid calcified ineffective, a result known to each system To this stage.

Unless the regime reform itself peacefully and accommodates the message of protest, the slogan of the demonstrations will be turned into a total coup rather than a call for political reform.

The angry public has not called for the overthrow of the regime so far, but demanded its reform, and the opportunity is still available, if the political class has the wisdom necessary to maintain the situation. Under control and to lead change with minimal losses.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Iraq on Monday called on the federal government in Baghdad to fulfill promises it made to protestors and implement its reform package.

The announcement comes after a recent wave of violent, nationwide protests which began in early October. The demonstrations have reportedly led to the deaths of at least 100 people and thousands more injured.

Security forces cracked down on protesters, with many accusing them of using excessive force and gunfire to prevent the demonstrations from spreading.

The central government in Baghdad also imposed a curfew and cut internet connections in many southern provinces where the unrest was taking place.

“We call on the government to implement its promises in the reform package, and to give the Iraqi citizens the rights guaranteed by the constitution,” Fadhel al-Gharawi, a member of the Iraqi human rights commission, said in a statement.

“We call for those who gave orders to attack peaceful demonstrators with live bullets and arrest them to be held responsible, whether they are commanders or others, and that they are brought to justice.”

Violence permeated protests since they began in Baghdad and spread to major southern cities, marking the worst instance of instability since the so-called Islamic State was defeated nearly two years ago. Many were killed by direct sniper fire.

On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi said his government was committed to improving living conditions and affirmed that an investigation into the deadly demonstrations would be announced “soon.”

The Iraqi human rights statement underlined the need for authorities to announce the results to the Iraqi people “with full transparency and accountability of all the negligent who caused this humanitarian tragedy.”

“The families of martyrs and the wounded should be compensated,” it added, “and all detainees should be released.”

Activists have told Kurdistan 24 that another major demonstration is planned for Baghdad and other cities on Oct. 25. This follows the Shia religious observance called Arbaeen, during which millions of worshippers will be marching to holy sites in Iraq.

IMHO - If the Parliament had been doing THEIR job (for the Iraqi citizens), since being elected, they would not be worried about their building being stormed by demonstrators.

Kind'a sounds like an admission of guilt to me;  (we haven't done sh**te for the people,  we know it and now we hope that the demonstrators don't come to burn the place down or find us at home).
