The Iraq protests perpetuate the tepid relationship between Baghdad and Washington

- 4 Hours Have Passed

%D8%A8%D8%BA%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%AF-%D9%88%D9

Iraqi-American relations are heading towards a chill with an unexpected trend from the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to be completely subject to the Iranian will.

The latest signs of the deteriorating relationship between Baghdad and Washington at this stage, through the promotion of the team close to Abdul Mahdi, the idea that the mass protests witnessed throughout the country recently, against the political system accused of administrative and financial corruption and mismanagement and failure to meet the needs of the population and left thousands of victims among the dead and wounded It was based on US motives for economic competition between the United States and China.

In an attempt to explain the reasons for the outbreak of protests in Iraq in this unusual way, those close to the Prime Minister promoted information indicating that the United States moved the recent demonstrations in Iraq in response to Abdul-Mahdi's recent visit to China, where he signed contracts and memoranda of understanding with Chinese companies, has It harms the interests of American companies in his country.

Senior officials in Abdul-Mahdi's office appeared to be convinced of this account, and various state agencies were even harnessed to hit the protest movement hard, although the prime minister said earlier that the United States understood the motives of Baghdad's opening to Beijing in the area of infrastructure, a sign of a decline. The cost of Chinese construction compared to Western and American standards.

Iraqi political sources revealed to "Arabs" that "Tehran encouraged Abdul Mahdi's concerns about the US reaction to the Iraqi economic opening to China, and provided through loyal officers in Iraqi intelligence services misleading information about US moves to encourage a protest movement against the government in Baghdad."

Advisers to Abdul-Mahdi deliberated this scenario as a hard fact according to which the demonstrations were dealt with excessive violence, which resulted in the presence of about 8,000 dead, wounded and detainees.

But at the same time, the prime minister has received intelligence estimates that underestimate the reports of US involvement in activating a protest movement aimed at toppling his government.

Demonstrators said the Iraqi government did not want to acknowledge the fact that the 16-year-old failure in Iraq was the main driver of one of the broadest protest movements in the country's modern history.

With the Iraqi government insisting on granting the American conspiracy theory the widest scope to influence the course of security dealing with the protest movement, the magnitude of the great contradiction between the positions of Baghdad and Washington during this crisis has emerged through the way each party in interpreting the details of the phone call between Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi And Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, against the backdrop of the demonstrations. Both Baghdad and Washington gave a different account of what happened in the call, which embarrassed Baghdad so much that it seemed to tell the US official what he did not say.

The text of the statement distributed by the Iraqi government that Abdul-Mahdi received a phone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, noting that Abdul-Mahdi reviewed during the call "developments in the security situation and the return to normal life after the lifting of the curfew, and confirmed the control of security forces and stability, and provide the government a package Of reforms and procedures and continue to provide more in the coming days to meet the demands of citizens. ”

The official statement added that the US Secretary of State expressed "confidence in the Iraqi forces, stressing the position of the United States in support of Iraq and the efforts of the government to enhance security and stability."

But the statement released by the US embassy in Baghdad after the call contained different signals. Pompeo spoke with Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi. Secretary Pompeo condemned the recent violence in Iraq and noted that those who violate human rights must be held accountable.

Pompeo "reaffirmed that peaceful public demonstrations are an essential element in all democracies," the statement said, adding that "violence is not permitted in demonstrations either by security forces or demonstrators."

According to the US statement, Pompeo "deplored the tragic loss of life over the past few days and urged the Iraqi government to exercise maximum restraint." The strategic framework between the two countries. ”

The statement also said that "Pompeo urged Prime Minister Abdul Mahdi to take immediate steps to address the demands of the demonstrators through the enactment of reforms and the fight against corruption."

Informed government sources said that the US embassy resort to publishing a different story from the Iraqi government to the details of what happened between Pompeo and Abdul-Mahdi, reflects the extent of tension in the relationship between Baghdad and Washington.

The tension is not related to the file of the demonstrations, but goes back to months ago during which the United States refused to receive Abdul Mahdi, because of his gray stand on its conflict with Iran in the region.

Earlier, the US administration received Parliament Speaker Mohammed Halbousi and then President Barham Salih, who met his counterpart Donald Trump.

But Washington has rejected Abdul-Mahdi's request to visit him and meet Trump on three occasions after he hesitated to respond to clarify his country's position on the crisis between the United States and Iran at a time of growing confidence in Washington that the Iraqi Prime Minister is almost entirely subject to the will of Tehran.

10-12-2019   Newshound Guru Breitling  ...

It [protesters] actually has an advantage for our investment.
Because it's putting pressure on the Iraq government to add value.

So not only are the oil prices going down,

not only has the reserve been depleted,

now you have people rioting because they are not being taken care of and they need to add value to their currency.

So it advances our investment

Everybody Was Hopping And Bopping To The Hanim Crocodile Rock ! :o

:D  :D  :D

Nominated by a religious party and the solution in the hands of parliament .. There are no sincere intentions to dismiss the "Mahdi" and hold the government accountable!

 Saturday, October 12, 2019

Private: Written - Hanim Crocodile:

If part of it falls, the collapse of the pyramid of serious corruption on the breasts of the poor .. This is the case of the ruling group in "Iraq", despite violent demonstrations in the streets there are still waving a stick of religious reference at times, and parliamentary support at other times; Hidden, there are those in their favor not to overthrow the government of "Mahdi".

Although he lacks a numerically strong bloc in the House of Representatives to provide him with the necessary support to implement his government program, and although he is said to be a consensual candidate for the two largest parliamentary blocs, “Sa'irun” and “Al-Fateh” (who also abandoned him and stood as the opposition), it is not enough. Because the number of their deputies combined no more than (105) only; and the number of more than (220) of the other blocs, and this number is enough to dismiss him, but it seems that there is no intention in the parliament to dismiss "Abdul Mahdi", and stop the waterfall flowing in the streets " Iraq, because the issue of corruption rampant in all parts of the country and its institutions if opened to accountability will affect all Including members of parliament.

Parliament can .. If he wants!

According to Article 61 of the Iraqi Constitution:

“The Council of Representatives shall have the following competences:

Eighth b

3. The Council of Representatives decides to withdraw confidence from the Prime Minister by an absolute majority of its members.

(C) The Ministry shall be considered resigned in case of a no-confidence vote from the Prime Minister.

Which means the possibility of a number of blocks to dismiss the "Adel Abdul Mahdi" in the case of incompatibility with them; for example, the lack of tolerance with regard to the work of economic bodies working in their ministries, and this requires (165) deputy, which can be achieved easily, but as We have already stated that there are no pure intentions.

For its part, the Parliamentary Finance Committee, that political parties are procrastinating interrogation of ministers in parliament.

A member of the Committee, "Siham al-Moussawi," in a press statement: "The parliament lacks seriousness in the interrogation of the ministers, including the Minister of Finance, Fuad Hussein," noting that political parties worked to delay the questioning of the Minister of Finance, "Fuad Hussein," within "Parliament".

She added, "Moussawi": "The political pressure hindered the interrogations of ministers and the work of the supervisory parliament," noting: "The questioning of the Minister of Finance may be completely blurred and will not be achieved."

Deputy accuses parliament of imposing royalties on the government!

On the other hand, the deputy, "Riad Al-Tamimi", withdrew from the file questioning some ministers.

He said, "Tamimi," in a statement: "In front of God and the Iraqi people and respect for the right and constitutional section tell the truth and God for what I say a martyr, announced my withdrawal from the file of questioning some ministers committed to investigate files that have not been proven administrative and legal violations so far."

He added: "Especially as I watch some of my fellow MPs, they impose royalties using the types of tricks to blackmail ministers, especially the ministers of transport, agriculture and communications, and all MPs know their high professionalism in the ministerial performance and reform of heavy legacies."

"I would just say that political money and influence is greater than everything."

Interrogation in the second legislative term ..

The MP for the Alliance (Saraon), "Mudar Alzerjawi," the completion of the files of the interrogation of some ministers within the parliament during the next legislative term, pointing out that the House of Representatives will be the decisive in the dismissal of ministers or not, according to their answers.

He said, "Alzerjawi," in a press statement: "The next legislative chapter will see interrogations of some ministers, especially as some of them have completed the files, which will be the implementation of the process of questioning." He pointed out that: "can not and will not be able to block any protection of any minister affiliated to it, if the files contain irrefutable evidence condemning that minister or prove his failure."

He added: "All parties are seeking to emerge today in good face by demanding services and accountability for negligence and the elimination of corruption, where it can not be unreasonable to stand blocks supporting the ministers against the process of interrogation."

Public hearing ..

For his part; announced the MP for the coalition (Saraon), "Salam al-Shammari," that the session to host the Prime Minister, "Adel Abdul Mahdi," after the start of the second legislative term will be public, refusing to turn it into a closed session ,.

He said that "Mahdi" did not hold even a "whale" one of the major whales of corruption, although the Alliance (Saraon) has submitted a lot of files to the "Supreme Council against Corruption" as well as to the "Integrity Commission."

He explained, "Shammari" that: "The meeting to host the Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, after the start of the second legislative term will be public and refuse to turn it into a closed session; The program and plan of action are clear to the Iraqi people, and in just 100 days, but one year has passed since the government was introduced.

He pointed out that: `` The agreement with the prime minister was to hold all the corrupt to account, and from 2003 to 2018, including those who fled out of the country and chased him in order to return the money looted from the Iraqi people, which Abdul Mahdi has not committed to this day. ''

Nominated by a high religious party!

The former deputy prime minister, "Bahaa al-Araji," that any attempt to withdraw confidence from the prime minister, "Adel Abdul-Mahdi," means the failure of political blocs in the selection or not succeed in obtaining the "benefits."

He said, "Araji," in a press statement: "The political blocs contributed to the selection of the Prime Minister after being nominated from a religious high, and therefore the success depends on the cooperation of these blocs with him in the implementation of his government program, and vice versa as well."

He added: "Any attempt to withdraw confidence from him means the failure of these blocks in the selection or failure to succeed in support and accountability."

His success will expose the corruption of the parties ..

The former deputy prime minister, "Bahaa al-Araji," that the parties are the cause of the imbalance in the political process, noting that the success of "Abdul Mahdi" will reveal the corruption of some political blocs.

He added that: "The existence of the accountability and justice is contrary to the Constitution; and the solution is still in the hands of the government," adding that: "The House of Representatives to play its role and dissolve the accountability and justice."

He continued: "We must pass the oil and gas law to end the controversy between Baghdad and Erbil," pointing out that the rounds of oil licenses are contrary to the law and the Constitution, pointing out that: "The oil and gas law prevents foreign investment in oil fields."

Kurds reason to postpone accounting ..

A parliamentary source revealed the reason for the postponement of the session of the House of Representatives from Saturday to Sunday.

The source said, in a press statement: "The Kurdish deputies from the Democratic Party, the National Union and other Kurdish parties submitted a formal request for the presidency of the parliament to postpone the meeting on Saturday to Sunday to celebrate the Nowruz holidays," pointing out that: "The presidency of the parliament approved the request of Kurdish deputies; Saturday to Sunday. ”

He added: "The Sunday session during which the completion of the remaining cabinet cab of Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, may be put to the vote."

Treatment is economical first

Saturday, October 12, 2019

Many accusations have been leveled at the internal and external parties for intervening in the recent demonstrations, in mobilization or investment, but this does not eliminate the fact of economic motives as the main driver of the demonstrations. No one argues that the economic situation suffers from a real crisis whose elements are increasing and widening, and the obstacles to solving it, above all corruption, which are insurmountable to deal with. Thus, simply talking about the existence of a conspiracy and ignoring the real problem will not end the problem but turn it into a time bomb that explodes every time. Superficial procedures do not work as a pain reliever that does not cure the disease.

Rapid measures are required, but real treatment is in great economic steps coupled with the requirements of success and achievement, not drowning in the sea of routine, corruption and pressure of the blocs and armed groups for personal and factional interests.

For years, experts have been shouting: Only a real private sector and large investments can solve. This solution provides real jobs and not jobs in the government that exacerbates the phenomenon of disguised unemployment that weighs on the country's budget. The current investment law is minor, routine procedures are repulsive to the investor, and corruption hinders and increases the cost of projects, not to mention the subsequent extortion of investors by armed actors on the ground or clans in the project area. All these factors have made investment a big lie and a pretext for foreign assignments and foreign conferences only. We need real social security laws that guarantee the subsistence limit of the unemployed and pension rights for workers in the private sector like a civil servant, with strict enforcement of labor laws that guarantee these rights.

On the subject of terrorism, there has always been talk of social incubators and the need to address them politically and economically. The same applies to the external interventions that are being talked about.

They take poverty and deprivation as their incubator. Instead of treason and accusing others, the economic incubator must be treated with policies and strategic projects without neglecting the quick steps to address them.

If people are engaged in real jobs and earn incomes that provide them with a decent living, with basic services such as medicine, education and infrastructure, they will stand up to anyone who tries to stir unrest or destabilize security, because then they will defend themselves and their interests.
