So true! My Shia friend said after the last round of protest, the people that signed up for the low income money they promised, the protestors found the list of those peoples names in the trash dumpster.

Security forces used water cannons to disperse protesters who broke barriers at dawn Friday and entered the Green Zone, which is being taken by the government and diplomatic missions in central Baghdad.

Security source said that hundreds of demonstrators were able to enter the Green Zone at dawn today. The demonstrators began to lift the barriers on the bridge of the Republic of Moody to the Green Zone, after advancing from Tahrir Square where they rallied hours ago demanding the dismissal of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, and dissolve parliament.

 

Protesters gathered in large numbers in Tahrir Square in the center of the capital, carrying the Iraqi flag, and slogans including "I want a homeland", "go" and national chants. The authorities closed the bridges of the Republic and Al-Sunk in central Baghdad because of the increasing number of demonstrators and closed the concrete blocks entrance to the Green Zone from the side of Harthiya.

It is noteworthy that the security forces closed all roads to the Tahrir Square in central Baghdad, coinciding with the gathering of citizens preparing to demonstrate to demand reforms and eliminate corruption, while Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi called calls to overthrow his government and early elections outside the scope of the Constitution and the law as "adventure and chaos".

Security forces disperse demonstrators who crossed from Tahrir to the Green Zone

 

 

25th October, 2019

 

Iraqi security forces used water cannons to disperse anti-government demonstrators at the entrance to the Green Zone in central Baghdad, which includes official and diplomatic headquarters. A wave of protests resumed early this month.

After midnight, the demonstrators began to remove the first security barrier over the al-Jumhuriya bridge leading to the Green Zone. They gathered near the first gate of the Green Zone.

The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced on Thursday, the state of maximum alert in preparation for Friday's demonstrations, and the protection of institutions and public and private property.
