Direct: The Arab Monetary Fund revealed the inclusion of the Iraqi market for securities officially in the system of Arab financial markets database with the Fund, as of the beginning of September 2019.

The Arab Monetary Fund, in a statement, that the number of Arab financial markets joined the database of the Fund rose to 17 markets with the accession of the Iraqi market.

The Iraqi Stock Exchange currently includes 95 companies, including 28 banks and 5 insurance companies, 23 services, finance and investment companies, and two companies in the telecommunications sector, in addition to 21 companies in the industrial sector, 10 companies in the hotel and tourism sector, and 6 companies in the agriculture sector.

The total market value of the market at the end of 2018 was about 11.356 trillion Iraqi dinars equivalent to $ 9.1 billion, thus being ranked 13th among the Arab financial markets in the market value.

The Fund said that it has started to calculate a special index for the Iraqi market for securities, based on the data as at 31 July 2019 as a base period .

The sample of the index of the Fund for the Iraqi market for the securities of 43 companies, representing a market value of about 80 percent of the total market value as at the end of 2018 .

It is noteworthy that the Arab Monetary Fund calculates, in addition to indicators for the financial markets that join its database, a general composite index, which measures the performance of the Arab financial markets combined, including the Iraqi market for securities as of September 1, 2019

"Salaries, grants, subsidies and social welfare are more than 96% of the monthly average of the operating budget of the Iraqi government," Obeidi said in a post on his Facebook page.

He added that "salaries occupied the highest rate by 54% to reach 2.72 billion US dollars, followed by the social welfare program by 25% and amounted to 1.247 billion dollars, then the program of grants, subsidies and debt service by 17% and amounted to 850.7 million US dollars."

Economists have stipulated that the agreement be made directly with Japanese, American, European or Chinese companies, without the need for an Iraqi contractor or broker to implement the idea projects.

Economists said the implementation of the plan should be under the direct supervision of the prime minister and the idea should also be supported by parliament.

The idea is exciting and worthy of thought and debate. But it cannot be considered a plan, but rather an outline of what could be the nucleus of a detailed plan of numbers, projects and methods of implementation.

It is well known that corruption is gnawing at the body of the Iraqi state, and that any construction project soon collapses because of corruption. This is a serious problem. For this we need mechanisms and controls to protect the project from infiltration of corruption. The owners of the idea suggested that the implementation be under the supervision of the Prime Minister. It is not clear to what extent this proposal will be successful in reducing corruption, but in eliminating it. Some have suggested that the UN be supervised. This proposal may not be accepted by the public.

Bureaucracy is the deadly disease of every serious project. Unless parliament passes a quick set of laws to solve the problem, the chances of success of the project may be few.

Iraq signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bank

(KEXIM).

cooperation in strengthening national capacities and financing

memorandums of understanding with the relevant authorities in the 
Iraqi government to achieve this." 

Al-Dulaimi said during the meeting "priorities of the government program in 
investing international support towards the rehabilitation of basic 
services and improve the reality of services in all provinces, and 
strengthen the file of economy, trade and investment through the 
effective partnership established by the Iraqi government with the 
Iraqi private sector."

For its part, the Korean Import and Export Bank stressed its keenness 
to provide means of support to the Iraqi government, indicating the 
most prominent work of the Bank in the regional environment of Iraq 
and the world, and ways to align them with the Iraqi government plan 
to achieve sustainable development in accordance with the global vision
