I can't shake the feeling however, thats theres something else going on behind the scenes and this in part is designed to distract. These folks are a real caution, huh.

Abdul Mahdi's government is preparing for a difficult second year .. Crises are escalating

Political | 04:32 - 06/09/2019

BAGHDAD - The
government headed by Adel Abdul Mahdi, is preparing to enter its second year, which seems to be difficult under the emergence of internal and external crises, perhaps the most intense waving of the leader of the "Sadr", Muqtada al-Sadr to lift his hand from the government, which contributed to granting support in agreement with the coalition of Fatah Hadi al-Amiri, in October 2018. The government is also required to resolve other thorny issues such as interrogation and possible dismissal of some of its ministers, as well as external crises related to the border with Kuwait, and the aftermath of the bombing of the PMF headquarters.
On Thursday, Sadr's leader, Muqtada al-Sadr, threatened the government that it would renounce it if it did not take a tough stance on some issues, warning of a "riot state".
"This is a declaration of the end of the Iraqi government," Sadr wrote in a tweet on Twitter. "This is a shift from a law-controlled state to a riot state. If the government does not crack down, I declare my innocence." "Peace, my country," he concluded.
Sadr's comments coincide with the waving of some deputies of his alliance (others), to question some ministers of the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi in the next legislative term.
Parliamentary sources said that "deputies from the Alliance, insisting on the need to question ministers accused of corruption in the government of Abdul-Mahdi," adding that "this has troubled some deputies of the Fatah alliance, who still support the Prime Minister and his ministers."
She pointed out that "the government suffers from many problems, most notably the differences in views within the understandings of Fatah and others that supported the formation of a year ago on its performance," pointing out that "serious external crises await the government in its second year, most notably, the return to talk about legislation to remove US troops And terminate or amend the security agreement with Washington. "
According to the sources, "among the external crises is also the targeting file, which targeted the headquarters and weapons depots belonging to the Popular Mobilization, and Israel is considered the first accused to stand behind them, in addition to pressure on the government to move to Moscow to buy a modern air defense system despite the previous US rejection of such a step, except On the escalation of the dispute with Kuwait over the demarcation of the maritime border in the waters of the Arabian Gulf, and revealed the Iraqi media to Baghdad to make a formal complaint to the United Nations about it.
The government of Adel Abdul Mahdi was formed about a year ago with the direct support of the "conquest" led by Hadi al-Amiri, and "Saeron" supported by the "Sadrists", after the two coalitions managed to persuade the majority of parliament to vote to give confidence to the government.
Raed Fahmy, a member of the government program follow-up committee, said in a televised interview that "interrogations are one of the normal acts that the House of Representatives can do," and called for "activating the accountability procedures against corrupt ministers." .
"The government did not function according to the government program," Fahmi said.
In parallel, the government is under heavy pressure from faction leaders of the Hashd to take a firmer stance on the bombings of Hashd headquarters, which Israel accuses, an Iraqi government official said.
"The government is waiting for investigations to be completed because any hasty step in this dossier could lead Iraq into an external crisis with the United States, which supports Iraq in its war on terror through its leadership of the international coalition," the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Meanwhile, the parliamentary bloc "Sadikon", the political wing of the movement of Asaib Ahl al-Haq, to include the issue of the dispute with Kuwait in the agenda of the next parliament session, calling for "the use of all means to defend the borders of Iraq.
" "We confirm our support for the Iraqi government's move, which submitted a memorandum of protest to the UN Security Council regarding the recent abuse, but we in the parliamentary bloc" Sadikon "parliamentary believe that this step is not enough," stressing the need for the government to defend the Iraqi border using various means guaranteed by customs and laws International.
The bloc called for hosting the ministers of foreign affairs and transport in the next parliament session, to see the steps of the government in this file.
