Elizabeth Warren Comes Out in Favor of Tax Cuts – If You’re ***

On Thursday, 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren reintroduced the Refund Equality Act.

This bill allows married same-sex couples to amend previous tax returns from the IRS and change their filing status from single to married to receive tax refunds.

“The federal government forced legally married same-sex couples in Massachusetts to file as individuals and pay more in taxes for almost a decade,” Warren said in a statement. “We need to call out that discrimination and to make it right — Congress should pass the Refund Equality Act immediately.”

According to NBC News, the Joint Committee on Taxation released a report Thursday which said “taxpayers who were in same-sex marriages prior to the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act in 2...

Well I'm no Democrat but fair is fair. Where does it say in the tax code that a legal marriage is only between a man and women? If it does then it needs to be changed. If they have a legal marriage certificate then they should have the ability to file jointly.  Religion has no relevance in this legal issue.

What is fair?  What should our standards be?  Should we live for man made laws or the laws set by God?  Sure we are to obey the laws of the land but we are also to vote in the people we believe will set laws in favor of Gods eyes not just to win votes from a particular group.  How were the standard of laws first set and what were they based on?  (the Bible, Gods word)  This is why Warren is speaking out on this issue.  Purely vote related, the same as reparation.  As you can see, I'm totally against *** marriages but all have the right in their own hearts to please themselves in this world instead of the future  and what is pleasing to God.  I can only pray that we get back to Bibical standards that are only good instead of mans depravity that only promotes a fallen world that was not the intentions of our forefathers.  I have to agree that this should not be a religious issue but it should be a "GOD ISSUE".

What about those people who don't believe in God (any god or Deity) that get married in a courthouse that only legalizes their marriage?  God had no place in the process by the involved parties by their choice?  Does that exclude them from certain tax benefits?  Gods laws don't cover every situation.  Not every person believes in a God.  So with that being said, Gods laws and man made laws can be adhered to at the same time.

There are OBVIOUSLY irreconcilable differences BETWEEN God's Laws AND Man's Laws THAT ARE NOT BASED ON God's Laws. Adhering to God's Laws are what made THIS GREAT NATION Of The United States Of America.

OTHER Nation's Foundational Principles for laws CONFIRM God's Laws AS THEE Basis For Man's Laws.

DEVIATING from AND/OR REJECTING God's Laws WILL BRING THIS GREAT NATION TO DEPRAVITY AND DESTRUCTION!!! History is replete with examples of what happens when a society REJECTS God's Laws.

True.  I could get into a whole different conversation about that but I hate those debates.  People who believe Gods laws need to accept that some laws that have been passed (such as same sex marriage) need to be recognized and respected even if it goes against your values and beliefs.  After all, they are Laws!

Cranman, I see you have the support of several with your 1st answer as I have the unsupport of a ruby master which that is perfectly fine with me.

You ask about the ones that don't  believe in God or a deity and state that God has no place in the process by their choice. The only thing true in this statement is that these things are of their own choice.  but if one is truly to believe that there is no supreme being then they must ask how did their very breath come to be.  I just don't believe there is a man or woman out there that does not believe in a supreme being.  In fact I don't believe in atheism as described because God has put in every humans heart a belief thru nature and His creation.   Of course many suppress this belief but in their heart of heart they know it is so.  Anyway all of this is to say if mans law is to overcome Gods law then we are a man to be pitied and without hope.  Not only for our nation but the hope of eternal afterlife.  Gods place should be counted as all around us.  He is holding up all things that ever was and ever will be.  He didn't  just make us and leave us to our own depravity.  He still sits on His throne and man nor demonic spirits can or will thwart His plans.

I suppose you are as firm on where you stand as I am, but I know for sure my mind is made up.

Thank you for opening the door for me to express my love and total dependence on Him.  I just wish all could see His goodness and His sovereignty.  He is over ALL things.

Nicely stated.  As for the ruby givers,  they are entitled to give them as they seem fit.  I just wish they would explain why they give them.  I have received a few in the past myself.

In a perfect world that would happen.  Since man never has been, nor will be, perfect we do the best we can.  Everyone has the choice to believe what they believe and practice as such.  I understand that the law of God should always be held over the law of man.  But unfortunately, for some issues tolerance needs to be practiced and have faith that the world will not fall in to depravity just because some things we don't agree with occur.  I really didn't want this thread to turn into a debate about religion.  Just expressing my opinion on the above story.

So, WHAT, pray tell, is the "some" tolerance for depravity THAT DESTROYS???!!!

A little murder OK???!!! A little abortion OK???!!! A little stealing OK???!!!

What portion of Man's Law is built on quick sand AND what portion of Man's Law is BUILT ON THE SOLID FOUNDATION OF God's Law???!!!

The portion of Man's Law built on quick sand is a tear on the house of society where the portion of the house built on quick sand breaks off and falls into the ABYSS. The rest of the house is left to exposure to the elements ESPECIALLY the ensuing generations.

I say again, I was responding to the above issue that started this thread.  I don't know what to tell you if that 2 people of the same sex being married is to much for you tolerate.  I don't and won't get involved in every moral issue that tend to go against others belief because it is a losing battle.

Your last post asked if murder, abortion and stealing was ok with me. I took that as if you have no tolerance for anything that goes against Gods law. My apologies if that's not what you meant.  So you are saying you can tolerate 2 people of the same sex being married?  Great.  If not great.  I don't judge or care.

Don't label me either.  I don't understand how you can place a label on me as if you know everything that I stand for or believe. As if from this site and our limited conversations you know what I have done in my life for my country,  family and friends.  This happens easy and often on different threads and tempers rise and nasty things get said. I've learned to tolerate what I can and avoid things  that I can't.  I have a nasty temper but am wise enough to avoid situation that don't warrant it coming out.  So again, please don't label me.

You know, in my past experiences in leadership  roles when your orders or statements are misconstrued or not clearly understood  it is often because  the orders or statements were not presented clearly. Notice I said some times. I'm going to leave this conversation now because neither of us is understanding what the other is trying to say.

That's the problem with typing responses sometimes. It may require a small novel to get a point across.

Ha. That wasn't  a threat. It was me acknowledging that I get riled up and angry over things that I shouldn't and I try to avoid that from happening.  A little defensive aren't you?

Never said I was leading you.  I was merely referring  to times in my life where I was misunderstood  in my communications.  You were in the military.  Were the orders you gave or were issued to you always clear and concise?

Maybe you don't understand as well as you think you do.
