Many years ago a theatre actress , Franca Rame-RIP, politically involved as a leftist along with her husband Dario Fo-RIP ( also Nobel laureate for literature a few years ago) was kidnapped, put on a van, raped by 4 self-proclaimed fascists , and then thrown out of the running van...That was one of the examples of fascist hate and violence in Italy

I happened to see them in one of Dario's theatre plays in the 70's.....Dario has been the most represented Italian playwright abroad ....He even got represented in the US by an American theatre company after he and Franca got denied US entry visa as they were tagged as " dangerous communist intellectuals" or something  like that back in the 70's
