Kurdish deputy warns of the dangers of non-delivery of oil exported from the province to Baghdad

Political | 07:15 - 15/06/2019

BAGHDAD -
Kurdish MP Ahmad Haji Rashid on Saturday sent a memorandum to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), warning of the dangers of non-liquidation of oil exported to the federal government.
"It is not hidden to you that the financial demands of the citizens of the Kurdistan region were included in the federal budget law with the participation of everyone, according to his position and responsibilities entrusted to him. In return, the region has committed to hand over (250) thousand barrels of oil per day To the company Sumo exclusively, has found this matter full flexibility by the corresponding federal state and took into account the conditions experienced by the region of the accumulation of past debt, and a good faith in the law that in the event that the region can not deliver oil, the federal government is obliged to pay the dues of the region, F Here employees' salaries and in the case of non-delivery Sastqta amount of damage from the region's share of the Peshmerga forces in addition to the salaries of the drawer to the budget of the Ministry of Defense, this is happening for the first time and thus the salaries of the Peshmerga is subject to interpretation and the interpretation and the shortage. "
He added that "from this point we hoped the provincial government to take the same step of the federal government and meet the good faith in the best of them and to receive the oil specified in the law and thus end the chapters of mistrust between the two governments and certainly, the delivery of this amount for the share of the region was in the interest of the territorial government excellence , But regrettably, the KRG has not taken a step in the right direction and has not delivered oil. The Federal Government, the House of Representatives and the Finance Committee have been particularly disappointed by the lack of regional initiative to hand over oil, so it is necessary to try all of us and invest in all our relations Not to return to the first box and create a safe atmosphere for employees to receive their salaries at least during the current year, so I do not hide that the reaction of the Iraqi street and some political parties too passive and trying to the potential effort to hamper the efforts of both parties.
Rashid pointed out some obstacles:
1- A parliamentary delegation from the Sunni community, including the members of the Finance Committee, met with Turkish officials in the upper pyramid of the leadership of the Justice and Development Party and senior government officials. They put forward the issue of stopping the export of oil from Kurdistan region by Turkey. The answer was shocking to us, saying that the Iraqi government was not serious about this. The subject, and whenever there is the Iraqi government raised this issue by the ambassadors or consuls of Turkey working in Iraq and if Iraq is serious, Turkey is ready to stop the export of oil in the Kurdistan region provided that the Iraqi authorities stop the call against Turkey, 6) billion US dollars.
2 - Attempt by some political blocs represented in the Finance Committee to increase the amount of damage caused by non - delivery of oil and added to the total damage such as revenues of border ports and taxes until the deduction of the amount of the share of the region and this will reduce the amount allocated to salaries of employees of the Kurdistan region.
3 - Claim some members of the Finance Committee of the audited statements by the federal government in the era of Haider Abadi for employees of the Kurdistan region and the calculation of the amount of salaries and distribution on this basis.
4 - Calculation of the amount of loans accumulated for Iraqi banks in the region and the deduction of part of the benefits of the region to meet the amounts of those loans.
5 - Hosting the Federal Oil Minister to know the exact data on the extraction and export of oil by the region through the Turkish port of Ceyhan or by tankers and the calculation of amounts and the calculation of the region as revenues.
6 - Hosting the Director of the Border Ports Authority and the Customs Authority to find a solution to oblige the region to implement its commitments to customs tariffs and agricultural calendar and support the local product.
7 - There is a proposal by some political blocs that in the absence of commitment of the territorial government to hand over accurate data on the number of employees will begin the federal government to deal with the provinces like the rest of Iraq.

Agreed CF . . . I've got a " shopping list " of firms that have nothing to do with Iraq: some firms going into Iraq are of interest to me.

Regardless whether y'all invest in or outside of Iraq, I would suggest to everyone to do a mountain of research ( hopefully y'all are ), lengthy track record of success and/or failures along the way and to do due diligence with the professional investment groups before you sign on the bottom line with anyone.

Dang ! Can't wait to have such " problems "  of choosing the firms for investment. Here's to hopefully July :praying:being the month we can get off the Crazy Train  :cheesehead:

Big Salute & Happy Father's to all you " Big Daddys " out there.  :salute:CF . . . y'all have a great day and fingers crossed. :tiphat:

Kurdish population significantly reduced in disputed territories since October 2017: Official

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Most internally displaced Kurds have not yet returned to their homes in disputed areas after they were displaced following the events of Oct. 16, 2017, acording to a Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) official.

Adalat Omer, an advisor with the KRG’s board of affairs for disputed territories, on Tuesday claimed that since October 2017, “more than 100,000 Kurds were displaced and resettled in cities in the Kurdistan Region.” He continued “so far, the majority of those displaced have not returned to their homes,” notably those from Kirkuk, Khanaqin, Khurmatu and Sinjar (Shingal).

In response to the Kurdistan Region’s historic September 2017 referendum on independence, Iraqi forces and the Iran-backed Hashd al-Shaabi militias mobilized against the Kurdish Peshmerga in Kirkuk and other disputed areas.

Constant attempts at demographic change is seen in the areas that fall within article 140 of the Iraqi constitution, as the remaining  Kurds are being pressured by Arabs to leave their home and their land,” Omer stated.

“They are using tactics such as kidnappings, killings, and the burning of their lands, along with their liveluhoods.”

According to Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution, the fate of disputed territories between Erbil and Baghdad requires a referendum in said contested areas to allow people to decide whether they want to be governed by the KRG or the Iraqi government.

“Prior to October 2017, Kurdish citizens represented 97 percent of the population in some areas. Since the Arabization campaigns have brought in Arabs from central and southern Iraq to occupy Kurdish houses, only 20 percent of Kurds remain in those areas,” the Kurdish official explained.

In recent months many Kurdish communities have been forced to leave their homes because others have made claims on their lands using the same deeds they were given in previous Arabization campaigns enacted during the reign of Saddam Hussein.
