The Secretary-General of the Iraqi Cabinet Hamid Naim al-Ghazi, on Monday, the importance of resolving the file of government contracts and daily workers, in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers issued in this regard.

The Secretary-General stressed during his chairing a meeting of the Committee on the preparation of a mechanism to address the issue of temporary contract workers in government institutions, the need to achieve job stability, and equity of all segments of society.

In a statement, the Secretary-General called for the revision and enactment of laws on the provision of pensions and social guarantees to workers in the private sector, indicating the importance of such guarantees in attracting manpower to work in the sector .

The participants also reviewed the laws related to the transfer of employees of government contracts to permanent owners, as well as discussing the administrative and financial matters related to the settlement of this file, in addition to reviewing the draft laws of social security and social security, as they are important for workers in the private sector.

The committee, which includes representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Council of Counselors, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Finance, Planning, Labor and Social Affairs, recommended that an expanded meeting of the Committee be hosted by a number of experts and specialists as well as representatives of the private sector and civil society organizations And providing guarantees for and development of public and private sector employees

Cabinet Approves Second Annual Report of the AML / CFT Council

The General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers announced on Thursday the approval of the Council of Ministers on the second annual report of the Council against Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism.

"The Cabinet approved the second annual report of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Council of 2018 presented by the Central Bank of Iraq," the Secretariat said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement added that "the declaration, which came in accordance with the provisions of Article (7 / XIV) of the AML / CFT Law No. (39) of 2015, stipulates that the Tourism Authority shall prevent the criminal acts according to its law No. (14) of 1996 "He said.

"Iraq seeks to protect financial institutions, non-financial businesses, non-governmental organizations and society from the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing by providing the necessary information quickly and accurately in coordination and the concerned authorities," the report said. The Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers said that efforts must be coordinated and overcome the obstacles to implement the government curriculum set by the government and its policy to focus on developing the reality of the business environment and improving the investment climate in Iraq.

He added that the adoption of real steps to attract investment to the country, in addition to activating the partnership between the public and private sectors to implement strategic projects that reflect positively on the national economy and in line with the aspirations of Iraqi society.

This came during the expanded meeting held at the Secretariat building, attended by representatives of the relevant sectoral bodies, as well as representatives of the private sector and a number of local experts and investors; to review and amend the laws, legislation and procedures for improving the business and investment environment in Iraq.

The meeting discussed six main axes: the preparation of a database of the land offered as investment opportunities, facilities and bank loans, ports and customs, registration of companies, granting of entry features, and promotion of the tourism sector.

And discussed ways to address the procedures associated with each axis and identify the parties involved, and the meeting included a discussion paper proposals submitted by the Iraqi Economic Council on the facilities granted by the government to support the private sector.

The meeting concluded with a number of recommendations. The most important of these was to set the beginning of next week as the deadline for including proposals for the development of these axes, taking into consideration the legal cover for the procedures that will be amended and agreed upon before finalizing them to the Council of Ministers for decision. To organize and manage business and investment projects to promote the country's current situation in different sectors.
