If I understand correctly, the “next” “day” begins at sunset. So, likely Ramadan will begin at sunset on Sunday, May 5, 2019 whereas the fasting from sunrise to sunset will not begin until Monday Morning May 6.

Ramadan will end on sunset Tuesday, June 4 with the subsequent Eid al-Fitr that, if I recall correctly, lasts for three days.

It’s pretty sad we’ve been in this so long now we know Muslim Holidays better than Christian Holidays here in the states. I’ve started planning my vacations during Ramadan...... because as Adam says “Nothing Significant Happens during Ramadan” 😂 It’s been a safe bet the last 10 years. Although this year I might just bring my Dinars with me just in case.

I dont want to have to travel home just to get them before starting my new life 😜

  • yota691 changed the title to Worship and trade in Ramadan .. Months market in Baghdad, "almost empty"

As long as the month of Ramadan is distinctive in the lives of Iraqis whose famous markets such as the Shurja market are crowded with people from all parts of the capital and governorates to shop for the month of Ramadan, this is a specific market that is not equipped to provide the Iraqi family with all its requirements.

The market is almost empty. The

market is almost empty, as described by the owner of the spices shop in the market of Shorja Abdul Wahab Mohammed with the approach of the month of Ramadan, where he says that "What we are witnessing today is weak turnout by the families who used to buy different needs from the Shorja market in preparation for the month Ramadan, "noting that" turnout by families fell by half compared to last year. "

"What we are selling in the market is in the areas and malls at almost the same prices, so the families started to go to these markets and malls instead of bearing the burden of reaching the Shorja market," Mohammed said in an interview with Alsumaria News. "The owners of malls and markets in the regions started to know Where to bring the goods in bulk and to converge their prices with our prices and to let people get them what they need. "

Drop table Ramadan prices .. lentils

says shop owner food at Shorja Mohammed Hassan in an interview with Alsumaria News that "food prices did not rise the month before Ramadan as it was during previous years , but some of which fell as lentils , which is the basic table of Ramadan to reach the price of A kilogram of it 1000 dinars, while keeping the rest of their prices without an increase, such as rice, oil and pulses.

ExtImage-40525-1388176384.jpg

He attributed Hassan "weak turnout by the families on the market Shorja during the current year to the proliferation of large shops in the regions, which had a significant role in dispensing with the market Shorja, especially if we know that what the citizen needs in Ramadan are mainly food and juices are available in the markets Local ".

For her part, Umm Hanan said during her tour of the Shurja market in an interview with Alsumaria News that "she was offered to the market to buy scissors for sewing machines and not to buy to buy food."

She continued that it "has purchased all you need food and other materials , lentils, juices, spices and rice , the month of Ramadan near her home , which is located near Maysaloon Baghdad Square markets before", indicating that prices in these markets was a fair price . "

Remains Shorja favorite place

For her part, Khawla Hazem said in an interview with Alsumaria News that "shopping from supermarkets in the region are not going to go to the Shorja market because everything you need is in one place, while the person in the area of Shorja has the trouble of moving distances that may be far away to get the desired" .

"Prices may not significantly affect people's attraction to certain markets," she says. "The shurja market remains the favorite place for every Iraqi family over the years."

The spread of supermarkets

For his part, said economic expert Mohammed al-Tahan said in an interview with Alsumaria News that what we are witnessing today from the widespread spread of markets for the sale of food "supermarket" near the areas of the role of citizens has affected the commercial markets such as Shorja market and beautiful, "noting The order of goods and modernity in the supply of goods and goods in the "supermarket" has had a role in attracting the consumer more than the shops of Shorja, which does not have such things.

He explained that the citizen loves change and development even in the process of purchase and thus began these markets compete wholesale markets even at prices because the commercial companies began to provide these markets directly, "adding that" markets Shorja and beauty can not be dispensed with as representing the wholesale markets and the core of the economic life of the capital and even For the rest of the provinces. "

It is famous in the shops of Shorja market selling spices, cherries, bags, fabrics, glassware and other goods, which is a major source in Baghdad and even to the other provinces.

The market of Shorja from the old and famous Baghdad markets dates back to the late Abbasid era .. It was named Rihani market ... Then was replaced to the market of Attarin and finally called the market Shorja

(Reuters) - Experts say it is difficult to see the crescent on Sunday evening while members of the start-up committee in Tehran will be sent to mountainous areas, a member of the start-up committee of the office of Iran's Islamic Revolution Leader said.
In my opinion, in a statement to the Fars news agency, "the monitoring and vision of the Crescent with the naked eye will be accompanied by the difficulties of this night and if it is achieved and the reports of the monitoring and vision committees received the support of the Leader of the Revolution, his fatwa will be issued at 10 pm on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan In this case, the month of Sha'baan will be 30 days. Before the month of Ramadan .. Iraqi citizen complains about rising food prices

Al-Ahed News - Baghdad

Iraqis prepare tomorrow or later to receive the month of Ramadan, which is one of the most expensive months of the year on the household budget, which drives them to spend up to double the usual expenses on the food basket during the month of Ramadan.

Where prices of goods and goods began to rise for more than a week in several provinces of the country, notably Baghdad, Mosul, Salahuddin, Dhi Qar and Muthana, which raised the resentment of citizens, stressing the limited purchasing power and inability to obtain basic needs.

The rise in prices of goods, goods and food in light of the difficult living conditions suffered by the Iraqi people, due to increased unemployment and high fees and levies imposed by the government on the Iraqis to fill some of the oil habits affected by the decline in prices globally.

"The state should support the markets and help orphans and martyrs during this holy month, but we do not see any clear support by the state for the citizen," said Ali Jabbar, a government employee from Baghdad. Home ".

"All the countries of the world in Ramadan are cutting prices, except for Iraq, where the opposite is happening," said Mohammed Hamid, a vegetable seller. "There is a shortage of electricity. We can manage it, but where does the poor go?"

In contrast, Maitham Radhi considered that "prices are rising during the month of Ramadan because of the high demand and poor citizen it is difficult to live during this month and there is no control from the state and these prices are rising every month."

It is noteworthy that the high prices in Ramadan is not limited to the food basket alone, not including the expenses  for the purchase of clothes and other needs of the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which ends at the end of Ramadan, such as meat that is dealt with and donated during the feast as one of the religious rituals of the feast.

If nothing else, the education of the citizens effort has culminated if the shopkeeper refers to thousands as singles. Now just release the LDs and adjust the rate...internationally. Or was he actually referring to lower denominations and meant exactly what he said? What compelled the writer to clarify what the man said in parentheses? Smoke or mirrors? That made my spider senses tingle. It implies that the deletion of 3 zeroes is already in the works or at least in the minds of Iraqis.

LMAO!!!! These band of thieves can even agree on a day to start their Ramadan...

Curious to see if this holy month falls in line with the previous 15 that I’ve been associated with such as in price gauging, bombings an even less parliament participation.

This is not a 30 day holiday for these people but a month of supposed fasting an worship. I was hoping that we wouldn’t be here for another one of these do nothing holy months...
