Hamas vows renewed ‘intifada’ if US recognizes Jerusalem as Israeli capital

Terror group promises 'escalation,' says move would be 'violation of international law' and an attempt at a Jewish takeover of city

In a warning to Washington, Hamas on Saturday said US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel would lead to an “escalation” of the “Jerusalem intifada.”

The terror group said that if the Trump administration officially recognizes the Jewish state’s capital next week it would constitute “flagrant aggression” against the city and “a barefaced violation of international law.”

It said such a move would serve as a cover for a Jewish takeover of the city, amid the expulsion of Palestinians, and called on the Palestinian people to resist any such action through renewed intifada.

The “Jerusalem intifada” is a name given by some Palestinians to a wave of unrest and Palestinian terrorism that broke out in the West Bank and Jerusalem in late 2015.

Since that time some 43 Israelis, two visiting Americans, an Eritrean national, a Palestinian man, and a British student have been killed in stabbing, shooting and vehicular attacks by Palestinian assailants, and more than 270 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire, a majority of them attackers.

The violence has greatly subsided in recent months.

On Friday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s office warned of the potential destructive effects if Trump recognizes Jerusalem, a move they say would deny their claim to East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.

“The American recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel destroys the peace process,” Abbas’s spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement to AFP.

“The American recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and moving the American embassy to Jerusalem involves the same level of danger to the future of the peace process and pushes the region into instability,” he said.

Trump is due to decide by Monday on whether to renew a six-month waiver on moving the embassy. He pledged during his campaign to move the embassy to Jerusalem but renewed the waiver in May.

Reports emerged on Friday that Trump could again delay moving the embassy but recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The Palestinians see East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state and fiercely oppose any changes that could be regarded as legitimizing Israel’s control over East Jerusalem, which it captured in the 1967 Six Day War.

Israel annexed East Jerusalem and claims all of Jerusalem as its undivided eternal capital.

This has not been recognized by the international community. No countries currently have their embassies in Jerusalem, instead keeping them in the Israeli commercial capital Tel Aviv.

AFP contributed to this report.

I thought Mecca was their holy land...He stressed that "Jerusalem is our Holy Land and our land."

There is always some type of drama an crisis with these people. I guess now that ISIS is gone they need somebody else to kill.

Moqtada  al Sadr hasn't gotten his share of the news lately so it appears he's now concerned about a city in Israel an is back to his sabre rattling of killing Americans....

Iraq’s al-Sadr threatens to ‘liberate’ Jerusalem if Trump moves embassy

NAJAF, Iraq — Moving the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would be a declaration of war on Islam, influential Iraqi cleric Muqtada al-Sadr said Tuesday.

“Transferring the US Embassy to Jerusalem would be a public and more-explicit-than-ever declaration of war against Islam,” he said in a statement.

In a break with previous administrations, new US President Donald Trump has pledged to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and relocate the US Embassy there from Tel Aviv.

Sadr, a firebrand Shiite cleric whose militia once fought US occupation forces in Iraq, called for the “formation of a special division to liberate Jerusalem were the decision to be implemented.”

Sadr said the Cairo-based Arab League as well as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the world’s main pan-Islamic body, should take a decisive stand on the issue or dissolve themselves.

The Najaf-based cleric also called “for the immediate closure of the US Embassy in Iraq” should Washington go ahead with its promised embassy transfer in Israel.

Sadr supporters protesting against the lack of services and widespread corruption in the Iraqi state stormed the so-called “Green Zone” in Baghdad twice last year.

The protesters entered the parliament buildings and the prime minister’s office but did not attempt anything against the US Embassy there, which is Washington’s largest foreign mission.

The United States works with Iraq on a range of issues, notably with military backing for the Iraqi offensive to retake large parts of the country seized by the Islamic State jihadist group.

The final status of Jerusalem is one of the thorniest issues in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Israel considers Jerusalem — including the eastern Palestinian sector it annexed in 1980 — as its indivisible capital. The Palestinians want to make East Jerusalem the capital of their future state.

Trump vowed to move the embassy during his address at last year’s AIPAC Policy Conference, and he has indicated during his transition that he will follow through on that promise.

However, the plan has brought warnings of far-reaching diplomatic repercussions, as well as the possibility of violence.

Palestinian and Arab leaders have warned that relocating the embassy could lead to mass protests and unrest. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has indicated he could revoke the PLO’s recognition of Israel and Abbas’s Fatah party warned the move “would open the gates of hell.”

Members of the Israeli government, meanwhile, have been vocally supportive of the plan, but Israeli security officials are reportedly preparing for possible violence in the wake of such a move.

The White House on Sunday appeared to play down suggestions that a move was imminent, with press secretary Sean Spicer saying: “We are at the very beginning stages of even discussing this subject.”

Jordan begins diplomatic offensive ahead of Trump move on Jerusalem

AMMAN (Reuters) - Jordan has begun consultations on convening an emergency meeting of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) before an expected move this week by U.S. President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, a senior Jordanian source said.

A senior U.S. administration official said on Friday that Trump was likely to make the controversial declaration in a speech on Wednesday. Recognizing Jerusalem would upend decades of American policy and possibly inflame tensions in the Middle East.

Jordan, the current president of the Arab summit, would invite members of the two bodies to convene if the recognition is extended, to “discuss ways of dealing with the consequences of such a decision that raised alarm and concern”, the senior Jordanian diplomatic source told Reuters.

“It could ultimately hamper all efforts to get the peace process moving and holds a very high risk of provoking Arab and Muslim countries and Muslim communities in the West,” said the diplomatic source, asking not to be named.

King Abdullah’s Hashemite dynasty is the custodian of the Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem, making Amman sensitive to any changes of status of the disputed city.

Word of Trump’s planned announcement, which would deviate from previous U.S. presidents who have insisted the Jerusalem’s status must be decided in negotiations, drew criticism from the Palestinian Authority and was sure to anger the broader Arab world.

The Palestinians want East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state, and the international community does not recognize Israel’s claim on all of the city, home to sites holy to the Jewish, Muslim and Christian religions.

Jordan lost East Jerusalem and the West Bank to Israel during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and says the city’s fate should only be decided only at the end of a final settlement.

“It is essential no unilateral decisions are made that would change the historic status quo of Jerusalem as an occupied city whose fate needs to be determined in final status talks within an overall peace package,” the senior Jordanian diplomatic source added.

The chest chants against Trump: For Jerusalem the Lord protects him and the people redeemed him and we are behind them dahir

sadir-500x288.jpg

BAGHDAD, Jan 3 (Reuters) - Sadr's leader Moqtada al-Sadr chanted on Sunday on a social networking site Twitter against US President Donald Trump's decision to transfer his country's embassy to Jerusalem and recognize it as the capital of Israel.

"Our Jerusalem is ours, not against others, despite the intransigence of colonialism and global arrogance," he wrote. "What do you think, Trump, but refute, and your days are only a number, and your collection is scattered?" And Jerusalem has a god protecting him and a people redeemed, and we are behind them a dahir. "

Palestinian officials have begun mobilizing international diplomatic support to convince US President Donald Trump not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel after reports that he intends to do so. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is in intensive contact with Arab and foreign leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macaron, Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan. AH

It would appear there are those folks that will not be satisfied with anything less that than the complete destruction of this Planet and it's entire population. Most of the World's leaders are totally insane. When the Inmates are Running the Asylum, well, this is what we get.

Kushner works only at the behest of the president..if the palistinies dont reconize isreal then the PRESIDENT will move the capital! this step makes it easier!

Jordan warns Trump of the consequences of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of "Israel"

Trend Press / Continue

Jordanian Foreign Minister warned Washington of serious consequences "if recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist entity.

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said he told his US counterpart, "Rex Talerson," that any declaration on this issue will provoke outrage in the Arab and Islamic worlds.

According to the BBC, there is increasing speculation that US President Donald Trump will announce the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist entity in the near future, in fulfillment of the pledge made during the electoral defeat last year.

Jared Kouchner, Trump's brother-in-law, said no decision had yet been made.

The warnings came after speculation that US President Donald Trump would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in a speech on Wednesday.
