Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the Chargé d'Affaires of Qatar’s Embassy in Iraq, Mr. Hussein al-Fadala.

 

Mr. Al-Fadala conveyed the greetings of his country's leadership to Prime Minister Barzani. He congratulated the Kurdistan Region for the success of its recent parliamentary election, hoping that the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government will be formed soon.

He expressed his government’s willingness to further develop relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Prime Minister Barzani gave a brief overview about the economic and financial constraints, which the Region witnessed in the past years. He also highlighted the current indications of the Region’s economic recovery, particularly following improvement of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad and resumption of talks to settle differences between the two sides.

He also highlighted the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and the current efforts to form the new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government, which has reached its final stage.

They discussed the situation of the displaced persons and refugees who took refuge in the Kurdistan Region and the importance of their return to their places of origin. They stressed the reconstruction of the areas affected by the war against ISIS.

Mr. Al-Fadala said that a Qatari business delegation is to visit the Kurdistan Region to explore investment possibilities. Prime Minister Barzani welcomed the move, for which he stressed KRG's full support.

Halabousi invites Qatari official to visit Baghdad

[Asharq Al-Awsat] Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohammed Al-Halbusi received Qatar's Ambassador to Iraq Khalid Hamad Al-Sulaiti on the occasion of assuming his duties.

During the meeting, Speaker of the House of Representatives called for expanding economic exchange, encouraging companies and investors to invest in Iraq in all fields, and contributing to the reconstruction and construction in the liberated cities.

Haboussi discussed the development of parliamentary relations between the two countries, and directed the invitation to the head of the Qatari Shura Council to visit Iraq.

Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Halabousi invited the President of the Shura Council to visit Iraq, while calling for expanding economic exchange and encouraging companies and investors to invest in Iraq.
"The Speaker of the House of Representatives received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Iraq, Khaled Hamad Al-Sulaiti on the occasion of his duties," the office said in a statement, noting that "the two sides discussed the development of parliamentary relations between the two countries."
"Halaboussi congratulated al-Salaiti on his appointment as ambassador to Baghdad and wished him success and work on developing relations between the two countries."
Al-Halabousi called for expanding economic exchange, encouraging companies and investors to invest in Iraq in all fields and contributing to the reconstruction and reconstruction of cities liberated from terrorist gangs.
Halaboussi called "the head of the Shura Council to visit Iraq."
He also visited Halabusi, the Central Committee to compensate those affected as a result of military and terrorist operations in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, according to another statement issued by his office.

DOHA:  Qatar Chamber (QC) is looking to strengthen its cooperation with the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce. Qatari and Iraqi businessmen are looking forward to studying projects and opportunities to establish partnerships and develop trade and economic interests between them and benefit from memorandums of understanding and agreements signed between the two countries in all fields, Qatar Chamber Chairman, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani.

 

Sheikh Khalifa was speaking after receiving the visiting Chairman of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce Chairman, Abdul Razzaq Al Zuhairi and the accompanying delegation. The QC and the visiting delegation discussed ways of cooperation between the two sides and reviewed issues related to investment between the private sector in Qatar and Iraq.

The QC Chairman pointed out that there is a desire to increase the volume of trade exchange which is still without the aspirations and potential of the two countries. Sheikh Khalifa said that Qatar and Iraq have strong brotherly relations and that there is keenness to develop these relations, particularly in the business and trade sectors, pointing out that Iraq has great fundamentals and boasts of investment projects that can be Qataris enter it.

He stressed that Qatari and Iraqi businessmen are looking forward to studying projects and opportunities to establish partnerships and develop trade and economic interests between them and benefit from memorandums of understanding and agreements signed between the two countries in all fields. He pointed out that there is a desire to increase the volume of trade exchange which is still without the aspirations and potential of the two brotherly countries. He expressed the hope that the coming period will witness the beginning of a new phase of joint cooperation between the business sectors in the two countries.

For his part, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi said that the State of Qatar is a unique investment destination and that there is a desire from Iraqi businessmen and investors to get acquainted with the opportunities available and that the past period has witnessed a close relationship between the business community in the two countries through mutual visits to trade delegations, paving the way for increased partnerships between the two sides, especially in the industrial and agricultural fields.

He added that the Iraqi market is an important gateway to the Arab and Gulf markets nearby, pointing out that there are many investment opportunities that Qatari businessmen can enter, especially in reconstruction projects, which allow the Qatari companies working in the field of building materials and contracting to establish major strategic projects that serve the two countries. There is a government encouragement to facilitate the establishment of business in Iraq, and that the government adopts economic thinking seeks.

Al-Zuhairi who said Iraq is an attractive destination for foreign investors, called on Qatari investors to explore the investment potential in Iraq.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Bin Ahmed Al Obaidli and Abdulrahman Al Ansari, members of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Chamber.
