The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, sent a cable of condolences to the family of the late Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Judge Izzat Tawfiq Jafar, who was given a long time following an unfortunate traffic accident.

A condolence message conveyed by a presidential statement said: "We have received with deep sorrow and regret the death of the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Izzat Tawfiq Ja'far, following a tragic traffic accident. We extend to you and the Iraqi people our deepest condolences and sincere condolences. To serve Iraq and its people, which will remain a source of pride for the family and for all of us.

The leader of the National Coalition, Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the General Conference of the Iraqi Tribune, Dr. Iyad Allawi, condemned Judge Izzat Tawfiq Jaafar, head of the Integrity Commission,

Allawi said in a press statement on Friday that the values of care, sincerity and dedication that paved the way for the deposed leader confirm that Iraq has lost its spearhead in the fight against corruption and spoilers.

Allawi offered sincere condolences and condolences to the family of the deceased and to the employees and staff of the Integrity Commission and all the Iraqi people.

The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, on Friday sent a cable of condolences to the family of the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Izzat Tawfiq Jafar, who died of the impact of a traffic accident on Thursday on the road to Erbil - Dohuk.

Accused the MP of the National Wisdom Movement Ali al-Badiri corrupt parties to stand behind the death of the Chairman of the Integrity Commission Judge Izzat Tawfiq Jaafar.


Al-Badairi said in a statement that there were doubts about the death of the head of the Integrity Commission. It is likely that the incident will be orchestrated by corrupt parties involved in corruption operations, and it is feared that it will be revealed in the next stage. 

He called on the security forces to open an investigation, to uncover the circumstances of the incident, away from any political pressures or other, stressing that the investigation is quick, and reveal its results in front of public opinion.

Allawi said in a statement received by Alsumaria News, a copy of it, that "the values of care and sincerity and dedication, which paved the march of supervising the deceased, confirms that Iraq lost his departure spearhead in the fight against corruption and spoilers."

The Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, thanked the Iraqi people for the death of the Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Judge Izzat Tawfiq.

"I thank all the Iraqi people for the death of the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Izzat Tawfiq, may God have mercy on him, the impact of an unfortunate incident, we received the news of his occurrence with great sadness and sorrow," Abdul Mahdi said in a statement received by the agency.

"We have lost an honest and responsible judge who we are most in need of at this critical stage of his good qualities and great experience, which enabled him to be at the head of the most important anti-corruption bodies."

"I especially commend his colleagues the judges of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption, which faces the most dangerous files, which the late deceased has a key role in the detection and follow-up."

Abdul Mahdi concluded by saying, "I also give my thanks to all those working in the judiciary, their families and loved ones, and I hope that the deceased will be able to take care of the deceased with his mercy and bring him into his paradise

Chairman of Iraq’s Integrity Commission dies in car accident in Duhok

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The chairman of the Iraqi Commission of Integrity, Judge Izzat Tawfiq Jaafar, tragically died on Thursday in a car accident in the north of the country.

The accident occurred in the province of Duhok, in the autonomous Kurdistan Region, according to the Commission’s statement.

He was transferred to a nearby hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, a medical source told Kurdistan 24 on Friday.

 

 

The Commission praised Jaafar’s “dedication in carrying out his duties to the nation. He never wasted a minute and was always keen to carry out the tasks entrusted to the organization with wisdom and knowledge,” the Commission added.

Jaafar was a Kurd, born in 1970 in the city of Mosul. He is survived by his wife and six children.

In 2009, he was appointed as the Vice-Chairman of the Commission of Integrity. On July 5, 2018, he was promoted to Chairman of the Commission.

Car accidents in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are one of the most common causes of deaths and injuries in the region. Over the past decade, nearly 23,000 people have died as a result of collisions and crashes across Iraq, according to the Health Ministry.

“In the past ten years, 66,000 car accidents took place in Iraq, in which 22,952 people have been killed and 79,000 more wounded,” The ministry previously stated.

Politicians have questioned that the incident that killed the head of the Integrity Commission, Judge Izzat Tawfiq, may not be an accident, demanding the opening of an investigation and knowledge of the circumstances, especially as this raises many question marks.

A member of the Security and Defense Committee MP Mohammed Karbouli said in a statement quoted by "Asharq Al-Awsat" that "it is not possible to simply rely on the premise of fate and fate in the death of the head of the Integrity Commission."

He stressed Karbouli on "the need for the responsible authorities to open an investigation into this incident to know the circumstances because many question marks will remain pending in the event that the matter is not investigated."

For his part, said the leader of the coalition, Ali al-Sunaid that "the Iraqi government is required to open an extensive security investigation professional on the traffic accident, which was exposed to the head of the Integrity Commission in the province of Dohuk and led to his death."

 "It is not unlikely that the incident was planned to prevent the head of the Integrity Commission from detecting files of corruption, and also confirmed that it does not exclude the involvement of corrupt in the incident."

MP for the wisdom stream Ali al-Badiri also did not rule out that "the parties accused of corruption are behind the fabrication of this incident."

"There are doubts, in fact, in the case of the death of the head of the Integrity Commission, the incident may be orchestrated by corrupt parties involved in corruption, and is afraid to disclose in the next stage."

"The Iraqi security forces should open an investigation to uncover the circumstances of the incident, away from any political or other pressures. The investigation must be quick and its results revealed to the public opinion."

The deputy head of the parliamentary solution bloc Mohammed Karbouli first chirp on Twitter, wondering by saying .. Was the incident really spend judgment ?, asking for an investigation.

The death came days after Tawfiq announced his intention to open files of major corruption, in the framework of the campaign currently led by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi through the Supreme Council for the fight against corruption.

Secretary General of the Party of Solution MP Mohammed Karbouli, on Friday, on the fulfillment of the head of the Integrity Commission Izzat Tawfiq after a traffic accident in the province of Dohuk.

Al-Karbouli said in a tweet on his personal account in Twitter: "Did the Dahuk incident, which led to the death of the head of the Integrity Commission, was a judgment or an act?"
