Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) signed a resolution to disapprove of President Donald J. Trump’s national emergency for the crisis on our southern border.

The President had a one-word response for the Democrat-led bill: “VETO!”

The stakes couldn’t be clearer, as Vice President Mike Pence laid out in an interview with Fox News. “A vote against the President's national emergency declaration is a vote to deny the humanitarian and security crisis that's happening at our southern border.”

This morning, three state Attorneys General explained the Constitutional authority President Trump used in declaring the national emergency. “Unlike President Barack Obama, who unlawfully used executive power to create new laws or rewrite laws Congress enacted, President Trump is lawfully using executive power to address a crisis worsened by congressional inaction,” Ken Paxton (R-TX), Curtis Hill (R-IN), and Jeff Landry (R-LA) write.

“The facts matter — these facts show the president has acted lawfully and within the scope of discretion Congress and the people vested in him. Congress should support President Trump.”

Conservative commentators angrily called out Republican senators who on Thursday continued to back President Donald Trump by voting against a resolution overturning his border wall national emergency.

A dozen GOP lawmakers joined Democrats in approving the measure to reject Trump’s declaration. Trump tweeted he would “VETO!” the resolution.

High-profile writers on the right lambasted the Republicans who stood with Trump ― including Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) ― on Twitter, on television and in opinion columns.

Bill Kristol, editor-in-chief of The Bulwark, tweeted a link to an op-ed that described the vote as “a stain on the GOP, the undoing of years of promises to America that they were the party of the rule of law, of the Constitution, of the separation of powers, and limited government.”

“That may have been true once,” wrote Andrew Egger in the piece shared by Kristol. “But those days are clearly over.”

Charlie Sykes, also of The Bulwark, told MSNBC’s “Hardball” that it was “certainly a beginning of something” that 12 GOP senators broke with Trump. But he criticized the “spinelessness” of Republicans who did not.

“It could have been bigger and it should have been bigger,” Sykes said. “Now I think that a lot of senators who understood this was an easy vote, this was a red line vote, and yet they chose to cave in, they chose to go along with the White House rather than the Constitution.”

Jennifer Rubin wrote in The Washington Post that “if Trump told” the Republicans who stood with him “to amend the Constitution and toss out the Bill of Rights, they’d likely do it.”

“After all, Article I means nothing to them, so why should any other portion of the Constitution?” added Rubin, who said the GOP had “sacrificed its principles and decency for ... what? For the right to sit in the Senate, doing nothing? For fear that they cannot justify themselves to the mob Trump has drummed up?”

Rubin also predicted Trump’s presidential downfall:

 

In all likelihood, barring an act of political suicide by the Democrats (i.e., nominating an unelectable, self-described socialist), he’ll be out of office and facing prosecution in less than two years. And the Republicans who defended and enabled him? They’ll have gone down with the ship.

Michael Gerson, an ex-speechwriter for former President George W. Bush, did not comment on the vote itself. But in an op-ed for The Washington Post, he said a reality gap had opened up “between the GOP and the rest of our political culture.”

“The rift between Republican perceptions of the president and the view of the broader public” which has “grown into a chasm” was now “the main political context of the 2020 campaign,” he added.

Gerson also asked three questions of the GOP:

 

Why have Republicans fallen in line with a politician who has sometimes targeted their own party and leaders for populist disdain? Why have conservatives come to the defense of a leader with decidedly unconservative views on trade and foreign policy? Why have religious conservatives embraced the living, breathing embodiment of defining deviancy down?

While I support the wall and immigration policy reform,  I have to say that I'm impressed that the some Republicans voted against the resolution, for whatever reason.  It shows that that they aren't hardliners that will just vote for their parties ideas no matter what they personally think.  They all (R and Ds) need to think for themselves and not just go along with their parties ideas.  That might promote compromise.  Just a thought!

 

In my opinion, anyone who agrees with all their parties ideas, resolutions and future outlook simply tells me that they don't follow the issues and are only hardliners.  Not really useful towards any cause and impossible to debate with.  Doesn't mean they are not a nice person though.  LOL

The Pentagon transfers $ 1 billion in funding for the construction of the separation wall

Direct : The Pentagon said it was decided to transfer one billion dollars of funding to support the process of planning and construction of the wall separating the border between Mexico and the United States.

Acting Defense Minister Patrick Shahanhan said in a memo to Homeland Security Secretary Kersten Nielsen on Monday that the transfer of funds was intended to contribute to the construction and planning of the "pedestrian fence" and the roads and lighting of the separation barrier between the United States and Mexico.

Last week, the Pentagon presented Congress with a list of $ 12.8 billion to finance construction projects, suggesting that it could use it to redirect funds to the US-Mexico border construction process.

Last month, President Donald Trump announced a state of emergency to finance the construction of the separation wall.

The US president's decision came after a wide debate between the White House and Congress over financing the construction of the barrier, which caused the longest partial closure of the US government in history.

Shahanhan explained that the Ministry of Defense has the authority to support anti-drug activities near the international border.

Hungary just finished their new border wall to stop illegal immigration and it dropped the crossings from 6,000 a day to 40.

 

Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s pledge to stop illegals from flowing into the country appears to be a spectacular success.

 

On the day its border fence was completed, the influx of illegals entering Hungary went down from 6,353 one day to 870 the next. For the remainder of that month, illegal border crossings were steadily below 40 per day, officials said.

“They don’t even try,” a local border guard told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “We haven’t had a Syrian in six months.”

Hungary’s 96-mile long, 14-foot tall double-line fence includes several layers of razor-wire capable of delivering electric shocks. And they laughed at Herman Cain when he suggested an electrical fence!

 

The barrier features cameras, heat sensors and loudspeakers ready to tell migrants they’re about to break Hungarian law if they as much as touch the fence.

Nearly every police officer in Hungary is part of a rotation to monitor the border fence at all times. Temporary military bases house the police while they do their rotation.

Additionally, Hungary will train and pay more than 1,000 volunteers to deploy as “border hunters”.

Illegals who are caught are arrested and dropped off on the Serbian side of the fence. They don’t get a chance to apply for asylum unless they do so at a “transit zone” where they are held in housing containers while their cases get processed, the Daily Caller report said.

In September 2015, thousands of migrants streamed across the border every day as they made their way north to Austria, Germany and Scandinavia.

 

“It was an invasion,” Laszlo Toroczkai, the mayor of Asotthalom, told the Daily Caller. “Illegal immigration is a crime in a normal country. It’s not a normal thing to break into a country.”

“By the mid-year it was well beyond 100,000 people who came across,” said Zoltan Kovacs, a spokesman for the Hungarian government. “You should at least have the ability to handle what’s going on.”

Kovacs added: “You might not like it, it’s not a nice thing, but … the only way to stop illegal border crossings is [to] first build a fence, man it, equip it, and also, in parallel, build up your capabilities in terms of legal confines, legal circumstances to be able to handle what is coming.”

So how far along is President Trump’s border wall coming along?

Senator John Cornyn unveiled a border and immigration enforcement bill on Thursday with fellow GOP lawmakers that would invest $15 billion over four years in border security and help fund President Donald Trump’s wall.

The bill from would authorize the physical border wall and technological advancements at the southern border. It would also put into law Trump’s desire to hire thousands more border patrol agents, immigration officers and judges. The bill also seeks to add resources to ports of entry and to local law enforcement in the border region. It would mandate a national entry-exit system for tracking people entering and leaving the U.S. with biometric measurements.

Liberal snowflakes keep saying that a border wall is a waste of money and will not work. Hungary just proved that incorrect. Of course, we know that they really want no border.

I like the effectiveness of building a fence or wall along their entire Southern Border. If people do not assimilate into the culture they immigrate into while maintaining their own culture, such extremes of thought and politics are bound to happen. Particularly if the new immigrants start attacking other based on religious grounds.
