Abdul-Mahdi: Iraq must be a center of civilization, science and knowledge

 

 

BAGHDAD / Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Monday (January 21, 2019) announced the government's intention to award prizes to creators and inventors and adopt their work.

"Our inventors and scientists must strengthen Iraqi self-confidence, capabilities and competencies, not rely on importing solutions from abroad and remove obstacles and laws that hinder creative initiatives," Abdul-Mahdi said at the Iraqi inventors' forum on their third annual day.

He added that "Iraq must return to the center of civilization and science and knowledge to possess the fundamentals and characteristics of the advancement, and we should not just sing in the past of our civilization without continuing to progress."

He added that "crises must be the impetus for the creation of solutions similar to the experiences of successful countries that emerged from the wars more powerful and service to humanity inventions and technology provided to the whole world," noting that "inventions and discoveries are indicators of the progress of the United Nations and can achieve a breakthrough and move from one case to another" .

"The government is going to allocate rewarding prizes to creators and inventors and to adopt their work and transform them from theories to products," he said.
