Economy News Baghdad:

Haikou Mas visited several countries as foreign minister and did not stay in any country for as long as Iraq. A country where Germany has invested so much. Mas wants to know if he deserves it .

A mild winter morning in northern Iraq. The white sea tent in the refugee camp Hassan Cham reflects the sunlight, the children surround the Foreign Minister, a 12-year-old boy presents himself as Ali. Mas asks him, "What do you want to become later?" , Ali replied: "There is no future ."

In Hassan Cham lives 5,200 people were forced to leave the area around Mosul during the fighting against a dipper. 5200 of the 1.8 million displaced people are waiting to return to their villages and towns in northern Iraq. But until that moment it will take a lot of time according to the Kurdish regional government. Where do they go? Their homes are destroyed, their land is mined, and there is no water or electricity. However, mas tries stimulation. Certainly, "there is a future," he says of Ali .

Mas met the new Iraqi government, although not complete

Mas was in a hurry. The new Iraqi government has been in power only since the end of October. Eight out of 22 ministerial posts have not yet been named by Prime Minister Abdul Mahdi. But Mas did not want to postpone the visit any more. He traveled to Iraq on Monday and spent three days there. The trip was also an attempt to make German foreign policy a success .

It has been a year since the Iraqi government declared victory over a preacher. The annual celebration of this anniversary in Baghdad began a few days ago with a minute of silence on the victims' lives and fireworks for the survivors. The government wants to spread optimism. Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali al-Hakim describes the security situation as "stable" and sometimes "excellent". In the presence of Mas, he called for the return of the 245,000 Iraqis who had taken refuge in Germany. Here, Mas agrees, adding that Iraq is on the way to offering new horizons to its citizens .

In an appeal to Hakim, Mas sees a confirmation of the German federal government's policy on Iraq: the German army continues to support Kurdish forces in fighting against Da'ash.Berlin has sent humanitarian aid and development worth 1.5 billion euros since 2014 .

As a development example, Mas visited the station where young designers and designers plan a good future for themselves and their country. "This place does not reflect the usual image of Iraq portrayed by many people in Iraq - including me, " he said in the Brooklyn and Berlin office .

But once you get out into the street, you can see Baghdad. In almost every corner there are cops with rifles. The car crosses the high barbed-wire walls through successive checkpoints, which indicate that a threatening danger has not yet ended .

Stirring is not over yet

Da'ash has now started beating from the ground, killing 45 people in November - the lowest toll in years but still high enough to spread terror. Most of the Da'ash fighters are suspected of turning to the Iraqi-Syrian border, with the Pentagon estimating their summer numbers at 17,000 .

For decades, one war has spread in Iraq, leaving behind devastation, both in lives and in the country. In many places, essential needs are missing, not only in areas previously controlled by the Islamic state. In Basra, people recently took to the streets to protest the water shortage, killing several demonstrators. Many roads, bridges, schools, clinics and power lines have to be rebuilt, and Germany is ready to do so. Mas is also ready to make investments, provided Iraq starts fighting corruption .
