Floridian
Okay, how is this reasoning? Does this sound reasonable/likely? The 5,000, 10,000, 25,000 and 50,000 become 5, 10, 25, and 50 after dropping 3 zeros They come out with a new 100 and a new 1 in the near future (I guess when they issue the new 5, 10, 25 and 50) That gives them: 1 5 10 25 50 100 250 500 1,000 That would make the dinar equal to the dollar in Iraq. Any ideas how the notes we hold will be handled? Do they drop our zeros or not? 1 2

How can they drop 3 zeros and still have 1,000? Floridian i know im trying to compare usd to iqd here but in america there are 12 denominations in bills. Seven are still being printed: $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. There are five larger denominations that are no longer being printed. But these are in circulation among collectors and are still considered legal tender: $500, $1,000, $5,000, $10,000, and$100,000.

That's true, 3n1, but the collector items are worth much more than face value, aren't they? The 3 zero notes that we hold will not have collector's value. I'm just trying to figure out how our notes will be handled at whatever exchange rate they decide upon. 1

It also includes sheets of America's largest denomination currency, the $100,000 bill, which is said to be worth about $1.6 million today. The gold certificate note, which bears President Woodrow Wilson's portrait, was used only for official transactions between Federal Reserve Banks. 2

Yes indeed, I would say that any denomination that did not have the 3 zeros to take off would have to be taken to the bank for new bank notes, kinda like taking all your pennys to the bank youve been saving. In mexico when they lopped off the zeros any denom that did not have the 3 zeros would have been taken to the bank I assume. 1

Laid Back
If this article is true, and a new 500 & 250 IQD notes are coming out to the local market, it means the RV will take longer. Why 500 & 250 IQD notes instead of 1-5-10-20-50-100 IQD notes? Just my humble opinion. 2 1
ChuckFinley
Could it be part of a larger transition plan where the value increases an having a 1000 note and above becomes to big to carry for daily transactions. Enter the 250 and 500, followed by to 1,5,10,50 and 100. 1
