Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - The governor of the Iraqi Central Bank Ali al-Alaq said that the rain "damaged" about seven billion dinars (about six million dollars) within the Rafidain government.

Baghdad has seen recent heavy rains flooded many of the streets, but Rafidain Bank did not announce the exposure of his money to drowning.

Al-Alak said in an intervention during his attendance at the parliament session on Monday that the rainwater had entered the coffers of the bank and caused damage to the banknotes stored in those safes.

"In this case, Rafidain Bank requests the replacement of these securities by the Central Bank," he said, adding that the bank keeps documents to prove the validity of the issuance of currencies that have been damaged.

Al-Alaq said that the Central Bank, in accordance with its instructions and regulations, "replaces the currency when exposed to damage due to various accidents such as drowning, burning or anything else."

Lawmakers have already said that the losses of Rafidain Bank because of the rains amounted to ten billion dinars, but the sources said the amount estimated at seven billion dinars.

The damage included various categories of the Iraqi currency.

Al-Alaq pointed out that the losses do not actually mean seven billion dinars, but losses include only the value of printing the paper, which starts from two to four cents.

Thanks Buti , Yota . GA DV's. This is very interesting. Safes are flooded in 2013 before Alak is Governor. One account say 12 billion .One account says 10 Billion . The last says 7 billion. Rafidan never announced that the damage occurred. Something has taken place here . Either theft ,water damage or destruction on purpose to reduce the note count . Interesting
