Baghdad - Journal News

Khawla al-Asadi, director general of the Rafidain Bank, said on Wednesday that the 7 billion dinars damaged in the Rafidain Bank by rain in 2013 has no material value because it is damaged, and the Central Bank of Iraq had to change.

Al-Asadi said in a statement to the «Journal News», that "the money that was destroyed is old money and has become obsolete and is no longer the case of other documents, which are destroyed annually because of the lack of validity for use, such as exposure to tearing or omission by washing at home or foot.

On the other hand, experts in the financial and economic affairs pointed out that "the decision of the Central Bank to destroy the seven billion dinars as being unusable is a decision that falls within the routine and usual decisions in dealing with damaged banknotes, which are destroyed annually."

The specialists pointed out that "the timely management of the Central Bank of Iraq, represented by Dr. Abdel Basset Turki as governor of the bank and head of the Financial Control Bureau made its decision in a correct and sound and free from legal excesses."

The Iraqi parliament had hosted Ali al-Alaq, the current governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, and asked him a question among the questions about the work of the Central Bank and the monetary policy in the country. He replied that the value of banknotes that are damaged does not mean the value written on them, but in practice value a few cents "Noting that" the Central Bank dealt with the subject in accordance with the controls and instructions in force, and reviewed the volume of achievements achieved by the Central Bank in the last four years as the strengthening of the Iraqi economy. "

It is noteworthy that "the Central Bank has received the certificate of management of international cash and was able to maintain the cash reserve and reached to 60 billion Iraqi dollars, despite the difficult years experienced by the country as a result of fighting the price and low prices of oil and the central bank to exit the gray area and follow-up As well as control of the Iraqi currency auction and eliminate the gap in the dinar exchange rate between the supply and circulation in the markets by eliminating speculations and filling the gaps in the mechanism of the auction work that has been developed since 2004. Video .. Central Iraqi billion dollars .. Compare the cost and the cost of building Burj Khalifa

Sinking 7 billion Iraqi dinars rain water scandal will not be repeated in the new building of the Central Bank of Iraq, how can rain to penetrate the building up cost of $ billion, according to a report broadcast by the channel event entitled "New Iraqi scandal .. the central bank of one billion dollars."

This shocking figure has angered Iraqi activists by comparing the cost and cost of Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.

The Iraqi Central, which is one of the innovations of the global engineer Zaha Hadid, the current dispute is not the same project, but the cost and the way to be introduced to an Azerbaijani company and not put it as a global tender.

The unfair comparison is not between the cost of Burj Khalifa and the central Iraqi, but also between that cost and the amount allocated to the Iraqi budget and between them and the amount allocated to the ration card.

Iraqi life has become difficult because he believes that what enters his pocket of dinars is not comparable to what the government pays billions in a stone or leave it under the rain.

:twothumbs: I Agree, KDuesing, AND The Very Best Of Your Week To You!!! :tiphat:

The time and events do not line up so I'm pretty sure the real reason Ali al-Alaaq is feeling the heat for this is for other reasons.

I, too, think Nouri al-Maliki is behind all this while there likely was NO water damage and the Bicraqi Iraqi Dinar were stolen and pilfered or funneled to the Insanian Terrorist Machine. Seems like the clean up records would be produced if they really did exist. Also, the serial numbers of those notes should be able to be traced to see if any were destroyed by the CBI due to the noted damage.

As well, I think Nouri al-Maliki and Ali al-Alaaq need to be removed entirely from their current corrupt practices and some one with the necessary credentials installed as the REAL (not Acting) CBI Governor to complete the Monetary Reforms.

I may be mistakenly hopeful but believe there will be more encouraging news in the next while. My simple mental model is drastic action needs to be taken in Iraq to crimp off illicit income to the Insanians to meet the intent of the sanctions on Iran. Simply allowing currency swaps between Iraq and Iran in Bicraqi Iraqi Dinar would instantly give the Insanians a HUGE boost in buying potential once the Bicraqi Iraqi Dinar increased in value do to a ReInstatement or ReValue.

So..................................................We Wait and See!!!

Parl't to question sacked central bank governor over 'damaged' money

Ali al-Alaq

The Iraqi parliament’s chamber of information will host in a session on Wednesday with the sacked governor of the central bank in the wake 7 billion Iraqi dinars being declared damaged due to rain.

Former Central Bank Governor Ali al-Alaq, members of the board of directors and director of the Iraqi Trade Bank will be hosted in the session, according to a statement from the parliament.

The statement pointed out that the agenda also includes considering the appeals filed on the validity of the membership of some of MPs, in addition to voting on the wording of a resolution about the recent decisions of the previous cabinet.

Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi sacked Alaq from the governorship of Iraq’s central bank after the latter announced the damage of billions of dinars due to rain, informed political sources said on Friday.

Alaq's announcement of 7 billion dinars being damaged at the Rafidain Bank because of rain has drawn sharp political and social criticism, with calls for the federal government in Baghdad to open an investigation into the incident, which may reveal much corruption.

Over the past 15 years, Iraq has reportedly lost €194 billion of public funds. Corruption is responsible for this through methods including fake contracts and salaries for fictional employees.

Thank You, TigerGorZow, AND All The Best!!! :tiphat:

Maliki appointed him. Obviously because he can be controlled. He was appointed right after the money disappeared. He knew about it and  kept it under wraps for as long as he could. He works for Maliki not Iraq. That is why the currency auctions have been going on for so long. It is open money laundering and he has done nothing to stop it

Suron prepares herself for an exciting meeting to overthrow the central bank governor

Baghdad / Mohammed Sabah

The bloc threatened the House of Representatives to dismiss the Governor of the Central Bank Ali Al-Alaq from his post and to refer him to the judiciary unless he provides convincing answers in a meeting Wednesday on the health of sinking and the destruction of seven billion dinars in 2013, considering that the contradiction in the claims of the governor gives clear evidence of the theft of these funds in a way organization.

The alliance of Sowron, backed by the leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, a request to the Presidency of the Council of Representatives to form a committee of inquiry with the reasons to hold accountable for the damage of these large amounts, stressing that the investigation will lead to knowledge of all the waste of public money that happened earlier.
In the meantime, the Legal Committee in the House of Representatives put the name of the relations on the new edition of the currency "legal violation" resulting in the withdrawal of currency from the markets.
The MP said the alliance of Rami al-Sakini said in a statement to (range) that his coalition "submitted a request to the Presidency of the Council of Representatives to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the issue of sinking seven billion dinars in the Rafidain Bank," adding that "the answers of the Governor of the Central Bank in a previous session devoted To host it was not convincing to members of the House of Representatives. "
The governor Ali al-Alaq had confirmed before the House of Representatives on 12 November 2018 damaged nearly seven billion Iraqi dinars as a result of the entry of rainwater to the coffers of Rafidain Bank in 2013, which led to the damage of banknotes.
But Sakini says that "the fallacies that accompanied the talk of the relationship before the parliament calls for the formation of a commission of inquiry to find out the details of accurate and to identify the fact of the damage of these funds," likely that "the investigation will open other doors on many of the funds that have been wasted."
After the talk of the relations in parliament, the Central Bank issued a clarification last week about the sinking of seven billion dinars (six million dollars), saying that the incident occurred in Rafidain Bank in 2013 and the subject was addressed in a timely manner in accordance with legal formulations and expressed his deep surprise to raise this issue after five years .
The deputy from the province of Basra that "the central bank's story is unconvincing and contradictory with the proposals of the governor in the House of Representatives, who confirmed that the percentage of currency damage was 100 percent, and the relationship minutes after his speech, but we know all the serial numbers of this currency, .
"How did the central bank know the serial numbers of the currency after 100 percent damage?" Asks a member of the Foreign Relations Committee. "The answers were non-professional, and the money was not in the category of damage."
He added that "not to raise all the circumstances and uncertainty about this incident by the bank will give us another clear evidence that these funds were stolen in an orderly and codified manner," stressing that "a lot of blocs and deputies are demanding an urgent investigation with the Central Bank to know the fate of these funds."
The MP calls for the alliance of the other, "to question on the relations in the House of Representatives and referred to the judiciary to maintain public money," stressing that "the blocs and deputies will discuss the subject of the damage of this currency again with the Governor of the Central Bank."
The Presidency of the House of Representatives has included the subject of hosting the Governor of the Central Bank with members of the Governing Council and the Director of the Commercial Bank of Iraq on the agenda of the session on Wednesday.
The Supreme Judicial Council announced last Thursday directly Rusafa Court investigating the sinking of 7 billion Iraqi dinars due to torrential rain, stressing that he will hold accountable anyone who contributed to the commission.
Iraqi activists launched a campaign on social networking sites, to ridicule the declaration of the governor of the Iraqi Central Bank on the damage of 7 billion dinars.
In turn, MP from the coalition of state law Abdul Hadi al-Saadawi that "during the meeting on Wednesday will be discussed details of the incident with the Governor of the Central Bank to remove the mystery of the damage and sinking seven billion dinars in the coffers of Rafidain Bank."
Al-Sadawi said in a statement to Al-Mada that "talking about the sinking of funds in 2013 and the damage and replacing them with new ones are general guidelines that require further clarification by the Central Bank." But he said that "opening an investigation in the House of Representatives in this case will conflict with his investigation Judiciary now ".
For his part, explains the member of the Parliamentary Integrity Committee Abdul Amir al-Mayahi that "the House of Representatives will discuss in a meeting today put the name Ali al-Alaq on the currency with sinking seven billion dinars also."
Al-Mayahi said in a statement to Al-Mada that "the legal committee in the House of Representatives considered putting the name of the relations on the currency a clear legal violation," likely "the possibility of withdrawing these funds, which was named the relationship of the markets."
The MP of the coalition of construction that "the relationship bears responsibility for wasting money spent on printing the currency that put his name on them."
