Alsumaria News / Baghdad
announced the Jordanian Royal Court on Friday, details of King Abdullah II and Iraqi President talks Barham Saleh , as he emphasized the need to strengthen economic cooperation, especially to extend an oil pipeline from the city of Basra to the port of Aqaba , the Jordanian Red Sea.

The Jordanian monarch and the Iraqi president agreed during their talks in Amman to "expand cooperation between Jordan and Iraq in various fields, especially economic, trade, investment, energy and transport," the statement said.

The two sides stressed the need to proceed with the implementation of a number of joint economic projects, especially the oil pipeline from the city of Basra to the port of Aqaba and the rehabilitation of the road between Amman and Baghdad and the establishment of a joint industrial zone on the border between the two countries.

The pipeline is supposed to transport crude oil from the giant Rumaila field in Basra, southern Iraq, to export ports in the Jordanian port of Aqaba, providing Jordan with part of its oil needs.

For his part, Saleh said during the talks that "the implementation of the project is strategic for Iraq."
In April 2013, Jordan and Iraq signed a framework agreement for a 1700 km pipeline project to transport Iraqi oil to Jordan at a cost of about $ 18 billion and a capacity of 1 million barrels per day.

Iraq, which has the world's third largest oil reserves, estimated at 143 billion barrels, after Saudi Arabia and Iran, hopes that building the pipeline will increase its oil exports and diversify its ports.

Jordan, which imports 98 percent of its energy needs, hopes the pipeline will meet its crude oil needs of around 150,000 bpd and get 100 million cubic feet of natural gas a day.

The two countries are linked to a previous agreement that would supply Jordan with about 30,000 barrels per day of Iraqi crude oil, in addition to 1,000 tons of heavy fuel, but the deal is stalled as a result of deteriorating security conditions in Iraq.

Tehran (AFP) - Iraq's new President Barham Saleh made his first official visit to neighbouring Iran on Saturday, calling for "a new order in the region".

Saleh met his counterpart Hassan Rouhani to discuss trade, transport links and efforts to tackle dust pollution that plagues areas on both sides of the border.

"It is now time for a new order in the region that would meet the interests of all countries in it," Saleh told a Tehran news conference, according to a translation provided by Iran's state broadcaster.

"We believe Iran has an important role to play in this new order," he added.

Saleh, a 58-year-old moderate Kurd, was elected last month to the largely ceremonial role of president.

Rouhani said the two countries aimed to boost trade from $12 billion to $20 billion.

"Security and stability in the whole region is to everyone's benefit. We do not need any foreign interference in the region," Rouhani said.

Iran has been highly influential in Iraq since the toppling of Saddam Hussein in 2003, and was a key partner in pushing back the Islamic State group in recent years.

But Iran has also been blamed for factionalism and poor governance in Iraq and its consulate in the southern city of Basra was burnt to the ground during violent protests earlier this year.

Iran, Iraq consider using local cash in mutualtrade.....Iran says it is discussing a plan with Iraq to switch to dinar in trade instead of the US dollar.

The announcement was made by Iran’s Ambassador Iraj Masjedi who said the plan had been devised in response to recent US sanctions that restricted Iran’s access to the greenback.

“Considering the problems that have emerged in dollar-based banking transactions, a joint proposal between Iran and Iraq is using Iraq’s dinar in trade,” said Masjedi.

An alternative plan, he added, would be to use barter mechanisms to carry out imports and exports with Iraq.

The official was speaking as Iraq’s President Barham Salih was visiting Tehran on his first trip to the Islamic Republic.

President Salih told his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani during a press conference that Baghdad was determined to boost trade with Tehran. He made the announcement only days after his country rejected a US deadline to stop importing Iranian gas under new American sanctions.

“I have come here today with a clear message from Baghdad: We appreciate the importance of relations with Iran and these economic, cultural and political relations are rooted in history,” Salih said in a joint news conference with Rouhani.   https://www.presstv.com/Detail/2018/11/18/580406/Iran-Iraq-consider-using-local-cash-in-mutual-trade?fbclid=IwAR1-7vH_DsNuqeeVFq3oIckRgqrIXQgWPr0YMsBaGivG_sAytbIuOIzBX6o Sun Nov 18, 2018

Well, if they start giving Iran IQD before any kind of RV, then we know there is no RV coming up anytime soon.

I would think Trump would have a "conniption" if Iraq started handing over IQD to Iran and then RV'd the currency.

However, maybe this is a hint of imminent RV.  In the words of Synopsis, "Could be somethin', Could be nothin'."
