BackgroundEdit

Allawi was born in 1947 in Baghdad to a family deeply involved in Iraqi politics. Following the 14 July Revolution the family left Iraq due to links with the government under the monarchy.[1]

Shia Muslim, Allawi was part of the Iraqi exile community in London during the rule of Saddam Hussein. He was one of the organizers of 'The Declaration of Iraqi Shia', a statement released in 2002. Before being appointed by the governing council in 2003, Allawi was a professor at Oxford University. Ali is son of Ahmad Chalabi's sister, making him Chalabi's nephew. Having worked as a merchant banker in London, he was elected as a Senior Visiting Fellow at Princeton University for 2008-2009.[2]

He earned an S.B. in Civil Engineering from MITin 1968, and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1971.[citation needed]

Later workEdit

In January 2007 the Independent newspaper published an article by Allawi outlining a blueprint for peace in Iraq. Allawi recommended devolution within Iraq, economic and political regional integration in the Middle East, and the setting up of independent boards to oversee reconstruction and security issues.[3] The article was praised by Independent commentator Patrick Cockburn, who argued that it was "by far the most perceptive analysis of the extent of the disaster in his country, and how it might best be resolved. It is in sharp contrast to the ill-thought-out maunderings of experts and officials devising fresh policies in the White House and Downing Street".[4] Allawi has since written The Occupation of Iraq: Winning the War, Losing the Peace and The Crisis of Islamic Civilization. Both books were well received by critics and the reading public. The New York Times Book Review called The Occupation of Iraq "...the most comprehensive historical account of the disastrous aftermath of the American Invasion."[citation needed] In October 2009 the Washington Institute for Near East Policy announced that The Crisis of Islamic Civilization was awarded the Silver Prize of its annual book prize. In December 2009, The Economist named The Crisis of Islamic Civilization one of the Best Books of 2009.[citation needed] In a recent interview with The Diplomat he discussed his views on modern Islamic civilisation. He considers that, as a result of the expansion of Western colonial powers and modernisation over the last 200 years, Islamic civilisation is fast losing its élan and has been reduced to two aspects - political and religious - while economic and cultural aspects no longer affect the Muslim world.[2]Allawi was appointed a Visiting Research Professor at the National University of Singapore in 2013–2014. In March 2014, Allawi's biography of Faisal I of Iraq, published by Yale University Press, was released to wide critical acclaim.

The Turkmen Front on Thursday, not to give a ministerial portfolio Turkmen "systematic scheme, while accusing minority deputies the government of their special grades.

The head of the Front, Arshad Salhi, said in a press conference held in the House of Representatives and attended by Alsumaria News, "The right that some people stand against the assumption of Turkmen any ministerial portfolio within the Council of Ministers is only a systematic scheme," noting that "the distribution of ministries and special grades are in the manner of agreements Political away from professional. "

He added that "the Turkmen component was exposed to the ugliest deliberate intentional," addressing "the political blocs who were negotiating in the formation of the government (it seems that your conscience dies when the maturity of the Turkmen component)."

He stressed that "the deputies of the Turkmen component signed a document that the Turkmen take the post of Vice President and a ministerial portfolio and handed over to the President of the Republic, who also did not adopt the project and handed over to the political blocs and then negotiate to the Prime Minister, but the argument that they want a joint document and the document they have three months ago Muslim to all parties to the political blocs. "

For his part, Saeb Khaddar said during a press conference with the participation of representatives of minorities in parliament, "We representatives of minorities within the Iraqi Council of Representatives surprised us with the special grades of the bodies, directors and agents have been these degrees of representation of minorities," noting that "we object to the marginalization of ingredients from Christ and Sabean and Isidin and Shabak And the rest of the other components not to mention any representative of these components within the list of special grades sent to the House of Representatives.

Oil falls as investors eye the top 20 and OPEC meeting

15918.jpg

27th June, 2019

Oil prices fell to dissipate some of the strong gains made in the previous session as traders awaited the G20 summit in Japan and the OPEC meeting with other producers of crude to decide on extension of production cuts

Brent crude futures fell 42 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $ 66.07 a barrel

US WTI crude futures were down 33 cents, or 0.6 percent, at $ 59.05 a barrel

Oil prices rose more than 2% to their highest level in nearly a month supported by US government data showed a larger than expected decline in crude stocks, with exports reaching a record high and sudden decline of stocks of refined products

US President Donald Trump will meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at the G20 summit, which begins Friday in Osaka, Japan, to seek a breakthrough in negotiations to end the trade war that has adversely affected global economic growth

The next day, OPEC members meet with other producers, including Russia, in the group known as OPEC +, which agreed in December to cut supplies by 1.2 million bpd from January 1. The agreement expires on June 30

The US Energy Information Administration said crude oil inventories in the United States, the largest producer and consumer of oil, fell 12.8 million barrels last week, exceeding analysts' expectations of a decline of 2.5 million barrels
