Advanced Relationships
According to a presidential statement received by President Saleh at the official talks held at the Peace Palace in Baghdad with HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Iraq has a serious desire to build advanced relations with its neighbors especially With Kuwait to serve the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.

The President of the Republic welcomed Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad and his accompanying delegation, wishing that this visit would be a good opportunity to reverse the past and start a constructive relations page between the two brotherly neighbors.  
In turn, the Amir pointed out his country's keenness to support and enable Iraq to overcome the repercussions of the terrorist acts and its reconstruction. That Kuwait firmly believes in the importance of Iraq's security and stability.
The statement also discussed the latest political developments in the region and attempts to calm them in the interests of stability, as well as Kuwait's contribution to the reconstruction of Iraq, and relations between the two countries and ways to upgrade them to meet the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
The President of the Republic held a luncheon in honor of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait and his accompanying delegation, attended by the heads of the two Councils of Ministers and Representatives Adel Abdul Mahdi and Mohamed Halbusi and the President of the Federal Court Medhat Mahmoud and senior officials from both sides.
 
Regional conditions
In the context of the meeting, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi met with the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which was held in the presence of the two official delegations to discuss the development of Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations and opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
"We are honored to meet you in your country and among your brothers, because we have extensive ties and we have experienced many difficulties together and we have stood together against them and we have won them," Abdul Mahdi said in a press statement received by Sabah. He said: "I want to see Iraq develop and flourish and keen on Iraq as a shield for my country. Further development and that there are many things agreed upon and what remains of them can be resolved during the talks of the two ministerial delegations and follow-up implementation through the joint committees, praising the Iraqi government's directions and balanced policy and its positive use with the crises of the region.   
 The Kuwaiti delegation included Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Mr. Anas Khalid Nasser Al Saleh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Naif Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Minister of Finance and Mr. Minister of State for Services, Dr. Khalid Ali Mohammed Al-Fadhel, Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water, and Mr. Ahmed Fahd Al-Fahd.
