Baghdad can provide accurate information on weapons depots and camps belonging to pro-Iranian Iraqi militias in different parts of the country, but are virtually unable to bypass the strict financial control system that Americans occupy at the CBI. Read On ... In Baghdad, Zarif is aware of the government's reluctance to meet any Iranian demands - Two Hours Passed BAGHDAD - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif's visit to Iraq opened up an opportunity to compare the impact of a visit by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Baghdad on July 7. While traveling between the offices of senior officials and leaders of blocs, parties, clergy, and tribal leaders during a two-day visit, Pompeo's visit to Baghdad was limited to only four hours, during which he met with President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, leaving behind one of his aides to complete consultations. Pompeo made explicit warnings to Iraqi officials that the United States would not be able to turn a blind eye to any facilities offered by official Iraqi parties to Tehran in order to ease sanctions, while Zarif came to Baghdad to propose alternative formulas for trade between the two countries to the US dollar. According to sources close to the US minister asked the Iraqi officials clearly control the behavior of the Iraqi militias loyal to Iran, in the event of tension between Tehran and Washington, while the Iranian minister avoided any reference to this file, which is entirely subject to the management of the Revolutionary Guards and General Qasim Soleimani. Observers believe that the Iraqi government can meet some of the American demands, but is completely unable to meet any Iranian demands. Baghdad can provide accurate information on weapons depots and camps belonging to pro-Iranian Iraqi militias in different parts of the country, but are virtually unable to bypass the strict financial control system that Americans occupy at the CBI. But political leaders in Iraq took advantage of the presence of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif in Baghdad to announce their unanimous rejection of the war between the United States and Iran. The clearest expression of Iraq's rejection of the war came from Foreign Minister Mohammad Ali al-Hakim, who said that "Iraq is against US sanctions against Tehran," asserting that his country seeks to "stand with Iran in any way." Al-Hakim did not reveal the mechanisms that Iraq would follow in order to stand with Iran, according to observers, according to observers. During his meeting with Prime Minister, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi avoided expressing any clear position on the crisis between the United States and Iran, merely "deliberating" with the Iranian minister, "in regional and international situations and how to spare the two countries and the region sanctions and war risks. Of the region and how to maintain the nuclear agreement. " The Iraqi President Barham Salih, when he received Zarif, a step in talking about "Iraq's keenness to strengthen ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and its efforts to strengthen relations with the Islamic neighborhood and its Arab depth," reiterating that "Iraq seeks to be a point of convergence between brotherly and friendly countries, And a stabilizing factor in the region in order to build balanced relations with all countries, especially neighboring countries according to common interests. " Saleh discussed with Zarif "the latest political developments at the regional and international levels, and the need to prevent war, escalation and relaxation to the truce and the adoption of constructive dialogue to consolidate the foundations of peace in the region and the importance of joint efforts to spare the region sanctions and find political solutions to the current crises." For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halboussi said during his meeting with the Iranian minister that "Iraq is keen to maintain its relationship with the Islamic Republic of Iran and all countries in the region." But Halabousi pledged that Iraq will play a "pivotal role in reducing the escalation between Tehran and Washington, and will not be in any axis." The positions of political consensus in Iraq are rare, usually on formal issues, which means that the Iraqi political parties are aware of the small impact of their movement in the future of the crisis between the United States and Iran. He said that his country "does not want any military escalation and is ready to receive any initiative that helps to reduce the escalation and build constructive relations with all neighboring countries." When he finished his series of meetings that included various Iraqi events, Zarif went to Najaf to meet with religious authorities. Sources say Tehran may be counting on supporting Najaf in its confrontation with Washington, based on "one-sidedness" between the Shiites of Iraq and Iran's Shiites. According to informed sources, the Iranian minister focuses during his meeting with Iraqi religious authorities on the economic damage suffered by the Iranian people as a result of the US sanctions, and what could be further complicate if the United States attacked Iran. Tehran hopes to push religious leaders in Iraq to a pro-Iranian or anti-war position in the least regard for using it in its propaganda campaign against the United States. And the difference between the Iraqi political observer between the visits of Pompeo and Zarif to Iraq, that the first did not just give his instructions and went so only protested for four hours through which his message reached the militias of Iran, and Zarif, he needs to obtain statements by Iraqi officials to use to raise the morale of the interior And that these statements put an end to what is being circulated that the position of the Iraqi government is closer to the United States than Iran. The observer noted in a statement to the "Arabs" Zarif's keenness to be an official visit so he did not meet any of the leaders of the militias who became part of the political class after entering the House of Representatives. "Despite Zarif's soft pressure policy, the Iranian minister has received only loose statements that can be said without being backed by firm commitments. Which proves that Iraqi politicians are trying to escape the recognition that they do not have the ability to determine the location of Iraq from the war if they fall if they wish not to war, because they fear that the war is appropriate to reveal their weakness in front of the militias that will spread chaos in the country In case of war ". Zarif's visit to Iraq was seen as part of a public relations campaign in which Tehran sought to impress public opinion within Iran that its front had not been weakened by US threats.
